Super cozy and historic Bed and Breakfast. Room was incredibly clean. Bed was grand and I slept great. From the pen and welcome chocolates to the comfy robes, it all demonstrated that the proprietor notices and cares about the smaller details. Even the amenities like the shampoo and conditioner were high quality. All for a very reasonable price. Oh and the breakfast was tasty with generous portions.

If you need a place to stay in the area, go for this one!

We had the Kingsland room for two nights. It was very spacious, with a lovely bathroom, lots of storage and a sitting area. This B&B is impeccably maintained and professionally decorated. Our host was Mike, the owner, who is very personable, but not over bearing. He’s there for conversation, but you’re also able to enjoy your breakfast in peace. Our breakfast for ample and the food was delicious. We arrived after the 6 PM check in time but self check in is very easy. so you don’t have to be on the B&Bs schedule, Mike sends you a text message with the check-in instructions. It couldn’t be easier or more secure.
This is a lovely B&B and we would stay here again if we were in the area.

We really enjoyed our two night stay. The wallpaper, floors and lots of other stuff are original to this house. The host, Michael, was very friendly and did a wonderful job with breakfast. It was an easy check-in and he gave complete instructions on using things like the TV and AC in the room. We stayed in the Oakbrook Room. The mattress was perfect and we slept very well. Breck, the dog, was friendly and sweet. The house is beautiful. Thank you

Very clean and comfortable room (Oakbrook). Parking and location made our points of destination accessible. The host, Mike, was attentive and the breakfasts were superb. We know where we will stay next time we are in the area. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed one night here, first time in a B&B. Great experience, Mike was an amazing host. Breakfast was so good, best french toast we've ever had! Definitely did not leave hungry. Also, loved getting to see Mike's dog Brick!

We stayed in the Grand Colonial on our way to the Adirondacks and were thrilled with the stay! Of all the 11 nights we were in hotels, this was by far the best in terms of the room, the breakfast and of course the host, Mike! He was so helpful in pointing out places to eat (some much was closed on Sunday) and gave us some tips on finding diamonds at the mine too! We loved hearing the stories about the area and the inn itself. We would definitely stay here again if passing through Herkimer. 5 stars+++

Mike is a wonderful host, and his breakfast is phenomenal! You can't go away hungry. And Brick is such a wonder dog. We brought our two dogs, and the service with dogs is excellent. We left our there, and Mike said he would send them back! We plan to return!

If I could give "Grand Colonial Bed & Breakfast" 5000 stars I would. Mike is an outstanding host from beginning to end. His hospitality is more than perfect. The breakfast is absolutely the best I've ever had. Mike goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at home. He works with you to address any questions or concerns and treats you respectfully. His dog Brick is so lovable. Thank you so much for everything.

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Colonial Inn!! Mike and his dog Brick were great hosts! Mike really went of his way to make sure things were comfortable and relaxing for us. Our two pups enjoyed it also as there is a huge area out back to enjoy sniffing and stretching their legs! Breakfast is unbelievable so make sure you are ready for some delicious food! We were full most of the day!! Would definitely recommend staying here if your up in that area. I know we would again!

We stayed in the Kingsland Room and it was spacious, nicely decorated and sparkling clean. It’s quiet season so we had the place to ourselves. Breakfast was on time and very good, coffee was strong. Would definitely stay again.
Brick the dog was quiet and friendly, barely noticed he was there.

We stayed with Mike for 5 days and we had a blast. Mike was very personable and the breakfast was huge! You wouldn’t need to eat again until dinner time. Our favorite part of our trip was sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch and relaxing. We will definitely be back.

What brings someone to Herkimer, NY? I was in town for a soccer tournament. The Grand Colonial was a great alternative to a hotel. I had never stayed at a B&B. I was worried it would feel like someone was watching my every move, but it was quite the opposite. We most often had the place to ourselves and could easily come and go as we saw fit. It is a beautiful home nestled within a neighborhood, so it felt less like a hotel and more like staying at a friend's house. The owner, Mike, was really nice and I enjoyed our breakfast conversations. And watching Brick (the dog) dance on the hardwood floor in excitement at seeing us was a treat as well. They keep Brick behind gates, so you do not have to interact with him if that is your preference. I have nothing negative to say about the experience.

So glad we found this place. We were looking for somewhere to stay near Cooperstown, this was about a half hour north and was perfect! This place has a lot of charm and it comes with off street parking which is great. The room was comfortable and cozy and came with streaming service access. Mike (and his dog) was great from when we first got there to when we left. He thinks of everything, from chocolates in your room out menus and coffee carts to post cards to send home. The breakfast was amazing too! There was everything you can think of on the menu, waffles pancakes, eggs, pastries. I would definitely stay here again. 5 stars all the way!

Fantastic place to stay! We spent the weekend in the area for our first mining trip and Mike was super nice and great at communicating to make our stay perfect. The empire room has an extremely comfortable bed and breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would love to come back and see brick again!

We stayed in the Kingsland room during the baseball HOF induction weekend. The room was spacious for me, my husband and our 18 mo old child. Michael went out of his way to accommodate our early check in and late check out. The breakfast was amazing! Plenty of choices and food! The house itself is beautifully decorated and the guests within the house were all very friendly. Thank you for the great stay!

THE BEST B&B experience we've ever had! The home is perfectly maintained, as are the grounds. Each room has a theme and the attention to detail is meticulous. The breakfast will send you back in time to your warmest childhood memories of a home cooked meal. We'll stay again for sure!

My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay with our dog, Reggie, at the Grand Colonial Bed & Breakfast. Mike and Brick are wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The Inn is beautifully appointed with much attention paid to the smallest detail. This Inn is by far, the most comfortable and thoughtful place we have ever stayed in our journeys. The cleanliness of the entire property is superb and we really appreciated all of the precautions taken to ensure our safety. Mike's culinary expertise in the kitchen creates the most unbelievably decadent breakfast. His French Toast, eggs & hot chocolate are selections to write home about! If anyone's travels ever take them to the Herkimer area, this place is a must. It is truly a hidden gem that travelers should take advantage of.

Stayed here for two nights this past weekend. From check in on I felt very welcomed and comfortable. The room was beautifully decorated as was the entire home. Bed very comfy. Mike was very thorough in explaining all their COVID protocols in place which put my mind at ease. I particularly appreciated his reviewing evacuation procedures in case of an emergency. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Mike and his cohost “Brick” made for an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. I only regret not having more time to relax and enjoy this lovely colonial home.
