Very affordable place to stay in Lake Placid. 10min walk from Mirror Lake and Main St. The property is old but I loved the vibe, kind of like an old movie (or your grandparents home!). Check-in was easy, my key was not at the front desk but staff was readily available to assist me. Bed were comfortable. Only one negative thing being the lack of heating in the rooms, but they provide warm fuzzy blankets and space heaters in each room. Loved the convenience of having a fridge and microwave. There is a parking up front. However, it is shared with the on-site restaurant so finding a spot later in the evening may require some waiting. I am overall happy with my stay and would book here again!

This place was great to us. We needed one night for a resting day before our hike. The check in was the smoothest check in I’ve ever had. The keys were waiting for me at the counter with my name on an envelope and that was it. Nice! The place is a bit rusty, old school and rustic furniture but beautiful still. It’s basically a whole vintage experience which is exactly what we were looking for on our day 1. Thank you 🙏

The old St Moritz Hotel still a Lake Placid bargain. Not as pretty as some of the other hotels, we enjoyed 2 comfortable nights there. Our double queen room had ample room, hot water. Coffee, tea was always available downstairs at all hours (keurig). Assorted teas, good Donut blend coffees. An extremely large community room downstairs saw plenty of usage. Wife needed it for her laptop wifi. The rooms themselves had 5 bar 5G service. The gals at the desk were fabulous.Lake Placid shopping district very short walking distance away. Walked there all days of our visit. Vegan, vegetarian? We are. And highly recommend 2 places that served us well. The Green Goddess (5 ☆) and the Dak Shack(4.5☆) They are a 1 minute drive on same street- rt 86- but headed towards Saranac Lake.
In a nutshell- This hotel saved us big bucks! The inside is beautiful!
No elevator. We were on floor 1. No problem for us, but inquire. Good luck!

We came for a ski trip and unfortunately booked the wrong hotel. We contacted the hotel service and a wonderful lady named Paloma helped us! She was able to help us get to the right place and helped with all our issues.

I recently stayed at the Pines and had a great experience. The rooms are little older, but very comfortable and perfect for a shorter getaway. The beds are very comfortable. I appreciated the free and accessible parking. The motel is well located, steps away from the Main street. You can easily walk to many local attractions, which is great. The staff is very helpful and take great pride in accommodating you to the best of their abilities. Special thank you to Yuri who ensured that my stay was exceptional. This motel offers great quality at an affordable price, I recommend!

A short walk to downtown. A large great room, beautiful porch, coffee tea water available. Rooms are cean, comfortable bed, a little outdated but nice, nice bathroom, small TV screen, a very responsive and friendly staff. Rooms need a little soundproofing.

We've stayed here twice over the past decade. Dated and quaint, but rooms have been clean and comfortable. Best part is the value $89 for a king bed is pretty much as cheap as it's going to get anywhere, let alone a few minutes' walk to a tourist main street.

The Pines Inn surprised me after my staying in this old but well maintaned hotel for the bad reviews I read, on the contrary, I must have to say that it was a good experience, nice place to stay, clean, we were provided with towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo etc. with a nice quiet neighborhood, shopping centers, restaurants and convenient to major tourist attractions. All in all, I will come back with my family the only person in the recption was nice and courteous but we have to wait for him a few minutes. Thank you Pines!

Good value for money compared to the prices in the area. The photos of the rooms look way better than they actually are. I just needed a place to rest my head for the night so didn't need anything special. This place fit the bill.

The free parking right in front is convenient.

Honestly, it was a great stay, but there is no manned fromt desk. You just find your key laid out on the desk with your name on it. It's a little odd, but everything worked out during my stay.
Sad couldn't see the famed hot tub

We ate at Redneck Cafe. Very nice. Large covered outside eating area very nice. Food was fresh and smoked brisket was good. We did not stay at hotel. They don't build hotels like this any more. It's a classic brick building.

We had a great experience here. Although the rooms are very dated, they are clean and the staff very helpful. The photos show the age but again very clean. Jill was very nice at the front desk. One thing to point out, there are no elevators and although we had a first floor room it was up 2 fights of steps. Close to main street with a restaurant on the property.

This is a wonderful location with easy walk to downtown. The Lake Placid trails are a very short drive or bike away. The room was updated and comfortable. The price was very resonable. I would recommend this Inn to anyone I know. Lots of space in the common areas to spread out.

The hotel is very nice they changed the rules and allowed me to get a refund as some things came up! Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are beautiful and the hot cocoa is warm!

This is a great place if you keep in mind it is a 111 year old place. The room is pleasant, albeit smaller than most hotel rooms, though in line with what you would expect for a turn of the last century place. The on premises bar/restaurant is pleasant as well with good food and reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend as long as you keep in mind it is a historic hotel (the old Hotel St. Moritz).

What can I say? From the live music with burgers and beer on the porch on Friday night to the excellent service and family atmosphere, this is the place! I have stayed there many times and Jill is the ultimate hostess. The hotel is quaint and historic. It is nothing like a chain hotel with all the trappings but if you enjoy peace and privacy in a timeless setting, you will love this Hotel.

Great receptionist. Free coffee in the lobby and they aren't open for breakfast. Had a pleasant stay, rooms were very clean. We stayed in one of their two bedroom offering that has three beds and sleeps up to 6 people

What a pretty throw back to an earlier time. The Pines was originally built around 1910. Its old its quaint but best of all its a mom and pop operation. Jill and Frank run the Pines basically single handed. They keep this century old hotel running. You see them doing everything. Front desk, housekeeping, building maintenance, bookkeeping, loading up the wood stove in the great room, plowing snow in the parking lot....you see Jill working the bar and tables in the cute restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights while Franks masters the kitchen. They do one hell of a job facing incredible odds.
The hotel is old and beautiful. Being a hundred years old its not perfect or totally quiet but it makes up for it with the charm of another more romantic time. The Lobby is like walking back in time. The great room is just beautiful and like entering a Victorian era Lodge. Our room was spacious the furniture looked like it came with the hotel from 1910. Some pealing wallpaper and cobwebs showed how difficult it is to maintain a 100 year old place on your own.
The bathroom was clean and updated. Room was always warm even though it was below zero outside.
Considering the rates were reasonable and it is a mom and pop I can overlook some shortcomings and be happy to support hard working families and enjoy something different from the huge big box hotels.

We look forward to planning our next visit to Lake Placid and staying with Frank and Jill at their beautiful Pines Hotel.

Jill was helpful, hospitable and friendly. Clean comfortable room and comfy Tempur-pedic mattress bed. Great location. Five minute walk to downtown and Mirror Lake, which is nice to walk around. Nostalgic place, not your typical chain hotel.
