Antojitos Tonatico

Absolutely delicious! I work in Waukegan and end up driving by this location about once or twice a month, so I've been meaning to try it out for a while. I should not have waited so long! Friendly service, well lit, and simply amazing food. I will be making this a regular stop.

Good food, fair prices, served quickly by pleasant waitress. Nice colorful environment, interesting specialties.

If you’re not familiar with this hidden gem, you’re missing out! They have it all! The flavors, the variety, the home style cooking and the service with a smile! They also do catering! And let me tell ya, they’re amazing to work with! Super professional and on top of everything! They recently catered my parents 50th wedding anniversary of about 200 guests and it was an absolute success! Everyone loved the food and service! I highly recommend Antojitos Tonatico!

This place is a hidden gem in Waukegan yet it's a staple for those who know... "IYKYK" Service is always friendly, albeit sometimes can seem slow because there's usually just one person serving, taking orders, food running and bartending. Don't let that deter you. The food is top quality and the prices are fair. This has definitely become my go-to spot.

They have the best menudo in town, their portions are generous and very reasonable prices. Great customer service by who I believe is one of the owners and also by the staff. Their pickled carrots are the best, which that alone is a reason to go eat there.

Pozole was amazing. I tried both green and red, and I can't wait to come back.

We drive all the way frome Janesville Wisconsin just to be able to eat real Mexican food I believe that this is the only town in Waukegan Illinois that actually makes real Mexican food anyone who really wants it this is the place to go they brought real Mexican food all the way from Mexico I wouldn't change anything in this place it's perfect more then perfect here in Janesville Wisconsin they have Mexican restaurants but none of there food actually taste like Mexican food like they try to cook it's just that there food is not 100 percent Mexican food there food is from other countries around Mexico and it doesn't taste all that great they should bring it here to Janesville

This owner takes a lot pride in serving the highest quality of ingredients. My preference here is chicken enchiladas. I have never had enchiladas anywhere, that have pure tender white chicken like this place. If your in the area please stop and patronize this eatery..

Quality food with reasonable prices and five star service. The lime water is amazing.

Delicious crispy chicken tacos with even better service. The owner was incredibly friendly and passionate about the 22 year history of the family restaurant, and the quality of the food with everything made fresh in-house.
From the tortilla chips, to the made-to-order guac (which has jalapeño!), to the salsa (good heat & flavor), everything is made fresh in house. Will certainly be visiting Antojitos the next time I'm back in Waukegan.

Service and food was good! Very clean establishment. Our food came out relatively quick and the tortillas were very delicious. Believe they are handmade. At least they tasted like they were! We will return here. There are a few things on the menu we still need to try. Recommend giving this spot a try!

Had a burrito and it was awesome, probably best authentic Mexican food I have ever had. and price is very reasonable. I will be back again and again.

Excellent restaurant for truly mexican food. Generous portions and very good quality food at really reasonable prices. I really liked the presentation and plating for the food we ordered, very nice attention to detail. The place is nice, fresh and a warm beautiful atmosphere along with friendly service. I will definitely recommend.

We dined in on a Saturday. Waitress was quick and very sweet. We got our food quick and it was all amazing as always!! We had the gorditas and tamales con mole rojo!! Great experience!

Red Pozole and tinga quesadillas are my favorite.
You definitely want to bring cash or else they do charge 3.9% credit card fee. 💳

Amazing food. It's a little pricey compared to most restaurants in the area but it's totally worth it. We got the "chubbys" or Gorditas and they WERE HUGE and jam packed with meat! I would def. Recommend them. Thanks for the great food and service 😊😊

Amazing hand made tortillas make a great taco shrimp dinner a la diabla so yumm. Best I had in a while.
