Howard's restaurant

I just moved to Flat Rock, AL about 6 months ago and happened to find Howard's on my way to Ft Payne. I eat here about twice a week because it's SO good. The food is always hot and fresh on the buffet, homemade and delicious. The burger off the menu is always good too. My kids pick Howard's over any other place when we go out to eat. The staff is super friendly and we're treated like family each and every time we are here. My daughter is visually impaired and they do anything they can to accommodate her. This place is hands down my favorite.

This is a wonderful family restaurant and the staff treats you like your part of the family. One of my favorite places to eat because the food is delicious, the environment is clean and welcoming, the price is fair, and the staff goes far and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Definitely recommend!!

From their awesome breakfast to country style lunch buffet I’ve never been dissatisfied with a meal I’ve had. The pizza is delicious and you can customize your orders easily! I use the cake.net online ordering service and my lunch is always ready when promised.

I’m glad that we have a place like Howard’s so close by that offers great service and delicious food. I may be bit of a regular since Siri always tells me how far it is from the office to the restaurant! 🤣😂

We had never eaten here till recently and think we have been around 3 times in the past month. We have loved everything we have ordered!

I swung by Howard's on my way from Tennessee home to South MS for a good breakfast and was not disappointed. Obviously, it's a hotspot for the locals, and it's not hard to see why. Service wasn't immediate, but not slow either for a busy Sat morning. I thoroughly enjoyed my fried eggs, pork loin, and cheese grits all cooked like home cooking. I would make it a point to visit again if given the chance.

We are in town for the weekend from Bluffton, South Carolina. We accidentally found Howard’s. It is Absolutely phenomenal!! Excellent service!

Best French Dip stromboli EVER. Sweet servers. WE LOVE THEIR CHEESY BREADSTICKS!! Excellent red velvet cupcakes, strawberry shortcake cupcakes and chess bars.

There's also a display at the hostess station, where you can purchase wax melts and candles. They smell amazing, come in adorable country-style packaging and are priced beyond reasonable.

Wasn't brave enough to tackle the the 24 oz burger but the 10 oz sure was good! Excellent and friendly service. If I'm ever back in Ider Alabama again, I will definitely eat at Howard's.

Had a private event here for our family Christmas. The food was EXCEPTIONAL. The service was EXCELLENT. They served a pecan cobbler that was to die for.

After an afternoon hike at DeSoto Falls, Howard's was the perfect food stop on the way home! The buffet was delicious with four main dish choices and plenty of sides, all were great! I was craving a good country diner and this hit the spot! And the service was awesome as well!

Every little town has its own hometown restaurant. Howard's fits that bill for Ider. It is very nice, plenty of room, good service, and the food is very good. Prices were reasonable. What more can you ask in a restaurant?

Update, it has been three years since my original review, but I happened to be passing through this area again with my mother, and I told her that we needed to carve out time to eat at Howards. Once again, the food, service, and atmosphere were great. Though we were not from town, we sparked up a conversation with a family next to us, just like we were from there.

In my mother's words, it was like going back in time to those restaurants that she grew up eating in. I have never heard her say that about any place I have taken her, and she still talks about eating there in the months since we went. I guess i'll have to find an excuse to take her back.
