Edit- visit on 11/2019: Great service, minimal wait. Our server (Bridget I think) was AWESOME. She handled a large party fantastically. The food is ok. I really enjoyed the onion rings and fried pickles. The salmon was delicious as well but I was hoping (by the description) that the "sauce" was more of a "crust". Even though it was more of a sauce, it was pretty delicious and the salmon was cooked wonderfully. The jalapeno ranch dressing on the salad was a bit hot for a salad but was great with the fried appetizers. The mashed potatoes were good. I ordered their highest priced red wine (I dont recall the name but it was from Mondavi) and it was very good. For a stop in Locust, it's good food but it could be top notch with a few tweaks. I'm hoping to see the few tweaks in the future.

Original visit: They're still getting used to things but they are doing a phenomenal job! This is the best restaurant opening I've been to in Stanly County. They learned quick that they needed to hold people at the door and seat them slowly. So while the wait was long, once we got to the table it was great service and everything went smooth. I tried every plate at our table. So I'll do a quick review of all of them.
Chargrilled Oysters- holy cow. Fantastic. I can't wait to go back to try their steamed ones.
Chicken fried deviled eggs - surprisingly delicious!
Fried pickles - they were ok. The Spears were the best. It mentioned something about jalapenos on the menu and we thought we'd get fried jalapenos in there too but there weren't any.
Crawfish etouffe - this was my actual dish and out of all 6 meals it was one of the top of the dishes. rice was a little mooshy. But this was a great dish with lots of crawfish and I will eat it again.
Guiso plate- the taste was good. Personally I think if they put the rice and beans all together with the meat more like a soup it would be great and that's actually how my friend ate it after my recommendation.
Brisket street tacos - this was the other winner of the table. The brisket was really tasty. I'm going to get this for myself next time.
When pigs fly - this one was probably in third place of all of the meals. Very tasty. The onion jam mixed with the ham and the marinade of the chicken was a beautiful combination. Very tender chicken too.
Hangersteak- the taste was great, it was cooked great however it wasn't cut correctly, therefore it was a bit tough to eat. If they cut it on a 45 this would be a fantastic meal.
Mashed potatoes were great.
Buttermilk pie - nope. Didn't work for me. I only got it because they were out of the pecan cobbler. They need one more dessert. Something with fruit.
Atmosphere is wonderful. They've done a great job remodeling this restaurant.
Parking is a bit funky but apparently they have some plans to make it better. I look forward to watching the success of this restaurant in the years to come. Great job!
Back again for an app. Had the shuck shack junk bucket. Great deal for 15.00 and perfect for a small meal for one. They don't have crab crackers which made that interesting. They did precut them but it was still hard to get all of the meat out. That's my only complaint. It didn't have an amazing flavor but it wasn't bad at all. I would probably rather do just shrimp or just oysters next time.

(This restaurant has closed as of Sept 2020. It is now called Outfitters Mercantile - selling merchandise instead of food. We were very sad when it closed. We really enjoyed it. I think all the closures & 50% capacity restrictions from COVID is what did them in. While open they were a great place to eat).

Food was great. Service was top notch. We actually tried Outfitters when first opened & were kind of disappointed but we really enjoyed our meal tonight. I had planned to have the Friday dinner special of BBQ ribs and chicken but waitress caution that the BBQ sauce was a honey (yay) chipotle (boo) mix. I can't tolerate spicy hot food so got the sirloin. The meat was cooked perfectly, ordered medium rare, and seasoned just right. My husband and I do not like overly spiced foods and sometimes even steaks come out smothered in pepper. Let the customer season with pepper if they want. This steak had just the right amount of pepper and coarse salt which I loved. The brussel sprouts were delicious. They have some sort of bacony-sweet flavor that complimented them perfectly. Not over powering. Not overly greasy like some places. I like to taste my food and think seasoning should enhance food, not overwhelm it. Outfitters hit the mark. My husband got the chopped steak and it was huge. Options are for a lot of toppings but he special ordered it with onions and gravy and asked them to leave off the peppers and mushrooms (which he doesn't like). His entree was perfect. He got a sweet potato casserole which he said was really good & green beans nicely done. I forgot to mention my side salad. Very nice. A nice mix of fresh baby greens, thin sliced onion, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, and cukes... all perfectly proportioned, no toppings buried the salad but were a nice topping of each. The balsamic vinaigrette was good, light and not too sweet. We were very pleased with our meal and look forward to another meal there again. LOL.. I ate the salad before I thought to take a picture. It was so good & fresh.

We had lunch on Thursday and decided to have dinner tonight. The wait staff is the bomb, sometimes they do not get the credit they deserve!! I got the prime rib, it was awesome, my husband got the Texas Trio, so much food and oh, so good. Awesome sweet tea, and the side salad was perfect with house made ranch dressing. Definitely a jewel in the rough. We had the privilege of meeting the owner and her Dad, thank you for bringing this restaurant to our nearby small town.

My husband and I LOVE this place, it is our favorite local restaurant by far! I always get the sirloin with seasoned fries and he always gets the club sandwich and it is to die for every single time, especially the perfectly seasoned and crispy fries!!!! The service is always very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere of the place is very cozy and family friendly. Our picky 8 year old even loves it! We are always looking forward to the next time we can go!

Wanted a steak but the Tuna is my go to and it was awesome!
If you even come close to the area, go out of your way even to have a great meal and dining experience!

What a nice experience! Our dinners were both done exactly as we wanted, and when my husband wasn't real thrilled about one of the sides, they happily replaced it, no questions asked. The service was excellent and done by a team that really made for an enjoyable dinner. We don't eat out often, and when we do, I frequently end up thinking that I could have made whatever we ordered for half the cost (or less). But this meal left us with no such thoughts.

Went for Lunch today as a “Little lunch date” with my Husband! The atmosphere was awesome very rustic and elegant at the same time. Loved the background music and not too loud.
The Food was the best around. My Husband had beef tips and rice and I had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Green beans. Very good and tasty and green beans you got to try they are fresh but cooked enough to be good!
Service was great and will definitely be back!

Incredible service and exceptional food!!! You get the unexpected here. Great welcoming atmosphere and casual experience. I can't say enough about how good their food is. Try this place out. Worth the drive if you are not local. You won't regret it!!!

First of all this please is gorgeous! A lot of time and care went into making it not only a restaurant, but an experience. The lunch specials weren't simple off the cuff dishes but well thought out appealing choices, and I promise you the one I had was downright delicious. Above and beyond that the staff there were overly friendly and eager to help. A wonderful experience.

We LOVE Cassi A (alias Drew Barrymore) as our server at Outfitters!! She is so nice , personable and a great asset to a great restaurant!!! The food is AWESOME, and everyone treats you like you are their best friend!! It is the best thing to come to Locust in a long time!! We look forward to seeing her and the whole staff again.!!!

Great food and great service at reasonable prices. The oyster Rockefeller was amazing as well as my porkbelly Reuben was very tasty. It's not a traditional Reuben, a great creation to say the least. The staff was very attentive and food came out fast with no issues. Considering this was the first day of opening, I was very impressed! The owners are great down to earth people who are very welcoming. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu and see what the bar has to offer.

The boyfriend and I came here to meet for dinner. Our server Miranda was amazing! The drinks were strong enough for my boyfriend, the tea was like hummingbird nectar... the appetizer (deviled eggs) tasted amazing, steaks were cooked right... sides 10/10. We also enjoyed the desserts. Lava cake and pecan cobbler, with the coffee that comes with them. Bathrooms were very clean, and so was the dining room. Hostess was also very sweet!! We will be back!

My family and I enjoy Outfitter’s Steak & Seafood in Locust, NC. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the service is great. My granddaughter and I sometimes go there during the lunch specials, which are very reasonable. Our waitress today was Ann. She was friendly, fun and very efficient in getting our order in and out quickly. She recommended the Cordon Bleu Burger and it was awesome! I also enjoy their Mac and cheese, it’s so creamy. My granddaughter always gets the child size steak tips and they cook it exactly how she likes it! I highly recommend Outfitter’s Steak & Seafood as a great place to eat. 5 stars!

This place was awesome in every way. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had appetizers, soup, and steak. Everything tasted amazing. You definitely have to try the chicken fried deviled eggs! Kids loved all their food as well! 5 stars!!!!

Went to eat here the other night and I have to say that I was impressed by the service and the atmosphere along with the food. My waitress Jenny is an absolute five star waitress! Wonderful personality, very attentive, and knowledgeable of what’s on the menu. Although I didn’t get to try a lot I will say the food that I did get was excellent.

Tried Outfitters for the first time last night and it was a great experience!! I had the hamburger steak with garlic red mashed potatoes and some INCREDIBLE mac n cheese!! Service was exceptional and the atmosphere was quaint. Ask for Michele... she was FANTASTIC! Great neighborhood place even though we drove from Charlotte. Vince Koob was the acoustic entertainment and did NOT disappoint!! We will DEFINITELY be back!

First visit to Outfitters. Ordered burger and mashed potatoes. It was very good. Our waitress was Bridget and she was very friendly, made sure we were satisfied with everything and kept our drinks filled. Very friendly. Will be back.

Outfitters in Locust catered our daughters wedding 2 weekends ago and the food was incredible!!!! Tom and Pam are amazing to work with and they provided us with a meal that we are still getting complements on. We highly recommend Outfitters for all your catering needs!!!! Thanks again Outfitters!!!

When I go out to eat steak I usually get a ribeye but not tonight. I got the sirloin and it was the best steak I have ever ate. My daughter loves the chicken fry chicken. Now for our waitress, Ann B. She was GREAT! Can't wait until we can go again.
