Love this store, I’ve bought two kayaks from them and the service is always top notch! Even with my kayak down for repair and parts taking longer than expected, they made everything right with me and took care of me. Looking forward to saving up a few bucks to buy my next kayak!

My family and I thoroughly enjoy going to this store! Every time we’ve been there, more than one employee has kindly told me to let them know if there’s anything that can help me with, and never in a pushy way. The folks here really care about the outdoors and helping others find their path out there, too. They have a pretty wide variety of products, including a great shoe section.

Extremely helpful guy works there! They didn’t have the right size shoe to hold my voluminous, fleshy foot meat, but the guy was kind enough to steer me in the exact right direction.

Came here seeking for a pair of Birkenstock Arizona to replace my old ones. They did not have my size in stock but the sales person was so nice to tell me to go to the store that carries a full range of Birkenstock. Because of this, they have me as a fan. Excellent customer service, they carry a wide range of outdoor clothing, shoes, equipment. Come check them out.

Wonderful company. I traveled 2 hrs just because they were the only ones close enough that had the kayak I wanted in person. Extremely helpful and friendly. Nice selection of gear for all kinds of outdoor stuff. Would suggest maybe some other rod, reels, and baits outside of fly-fishing. But still a company worth going to for outdoor needs.

I've been going here for 10 years, and they've always taken great care of me. This is a good place to get high quality outdoor gear that is a step up from the stuff you get in chain sporting goods stores. Process are always reasonable, and they have occasional clearance sales where you can get some really good bargains.

This is the best outdoors shop in Wilmington! Love the wood floors, the name-brand selections and the staff. You're not gonna find walmart quality selections here, it's all the fine quality outdoor equipment. They even carry locally made products! The staff are experienced outdoors people who want to give you the best value for your money. My go to store to prepare for my long backpacking trips. Got a Big Agnes tent today that I've been wishing for for years to replace my old heavy tent. And it was on sale! Woo!!

I don't normally write reviews, but this time I just had to! I just had an amazing experience at the Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Wilmington, NC. I am preparing for a trip and purchased a couple pairs of The North Face (quick drying) pants that I love. One pair had to be transferred from another store to get my size and that just took a couple of days. When I went back to the store to pick them up neither the salesperson nor I checked to see that the security device had been removed. (For whatever reason, it had not alarmed when I exited the store.) To my surprise as I was packing I discovered the device and went back to the store to have it removed. I explained to the salesperson that I needed a new eye glass retainer and as compensation for my extra trip to the store, I would appreciate that as a token gift. He said he was sure he could take care of that. He was very gracious and sincerely apologized for my troubles and inconvenience. As he was packaging my pants he handed me a $20 gift card, thanking me for my patronage and again apologizing for the inconvenience!

Now - that is customer service! I love the merchandise this store offers and now I especially appreciate the customer service!

Amazing store and very friendly staff. They answered all my questions and got my properly measured for bag size. Great selection of gear. I only wish I had more time and money to spend while I was there.

I had an issue with my Hobie kayak with the Mirage pedal drive. I called Great Outdoor and the woman who answered told me "Cameron" was most familiar with the Hobie equipment. I brought the Mirage drive to the store expecting to leave the drive there and having to pay a bunch of money. Cameron looked at the drive and identified the problem. He answered all my questions and told me the part would have to be ordered. He offered to let me take home a loaner drive to use until the part came in. He went into the back and came out with a drive and said he was going to remove the part I needed and install it in my drive. After he installed it and made a few adjustments and I was on my way. I live about 50 miles from the store so I didn't have to drive back up to pick it up and the price was very reasonable. Cameron was very knowledgeable, pleasant and professional.

I have been coming here since they opened and Pete and his crew always deliver excellent Customer service. My Yeti's zipper broke and Pete went out of his way to contact Yeti and within days had a new Hooper. This is why you shop local. Thanks again for another great experience in your store !!

Unfortunately they didn't have the pack I wanted. But Bryan was so incredibly helpful and really took the time to explain everything. All the staff is super nice any time I'm in there. I will definitely be back to pick up some gear!

Although I have never made a single purchase from this store I have to say it is one of the best all around outdoor stores I have been in. My Father and I were recently getting some ideas on what we wanted in a kayak. Well GOPC had a plenty for us to look at as well as an abundance of other high quality outdoor items. Unfortunately I do not remember his name but an older gentleman that worked there was so very helpful when answering our questions and pointing us to the right people in the industry to help us get started. It was certainly an A+ experience for us and I will definitely be going back...

I had an awesome experience here purchasing my kayak. The staff was very friendly and helped me through the entire process. They even helped me load it on my car! They have everything outdoor related that you could ask for. If you're an avid adventurist I can't recommend this place more!

Lost my Yakima rack and kayaks on the highway..needed new parts...Jason and Pete were outstanding to deal with. I didn't feel up to it, Pete installed it for me, in the rain!!
