Great Spot!!

Friendly, clean, cozy coffee shop experience. I used to live in Durham, and loved going to both locations. (Note: Also a location, downtown by Whole Foods). They do sell coffee equipment for home use + beans.

Although, I do miss the vanilla yogurt with homemade granola + punch card system.

Expertly made cortado and espresso with locally roasted beans. Given the abundance of great coffee shops in the area, I was impressed that this one exceeded expectations. Relaxed vibe and exceptional coffee. Plenty of seats with plugs in a large open space, but no extra comfy seating. Would come back.

We had a pleasurable experience here for coffee. Everyone remained distant in their seating after getting their food or beverage. The staff was friendly, not highly interactive or engaged, but friendly. I had a latte that was ready in a timely manner and was delicious. This is a great place to meet up for a working meeting.

My favorite thing about JCGW is the atmosphere. When I went, it was laid back, friendly, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. My other favorite thing is this is the rare example of a coffee place that does both coffee and food well; what I ordered (caramel latte, spinach tart, and ham and cheese pastry) was delicious, warm, crunchy, and the coffee smooth and well balanced. Incredible coffee and well executed breakfast items mean that I will come back again.

My first time visiting this quaint and cozy place. I was so excited to get the almond butter toast that I forgot to take a picture. The presentation was beautiful. The toast was topped with a delicious almond butter, fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, and lemon zest. Garnished with a swirled orange slice on the side. Customer service was outstanding, everyone greeted you with a smile and was very helpful. If you're ever in the mood for some delicious coffee or a fresh baked pastry, biscuit, or muffin, give this place a try.

Love this place! Always so clean, friendly, and dependable on their coffee, which is incredible. Their kitchen items are so good. It’s the pastries, sandwiches and breakfast burritos that keep us coming back!

Great specialty coffee spot. Helpful and friendly staff. They are pulling shots on a Slayer. I had a cortado, it was fantastic. The food options are incredible too, and they make you feel good. I had a sweet potato scramble (it looked so good I forgot to take the picture first). I did not buy a pastry but tried the sample and it was great! Definitely recommend coming here.

Adorable little coffee shop! Loved the seasonal flavors, my friend had pumpkin spice and I tried the maple cinnamon and both were delicious. The baristas were so friendly and nice and helpful.

I really like it in here.

It’s bigger on the inside than it seems from the outside. It’s quiet and you can eat and eat your food.

There are a lot of people here working and focused. They do have outdoor eating and parking is limited in the back but plenty in the front.

Nice, quaint, quiet place to get your work done.

I went on a quest last year to find the best oat milk lavender latte in Durham, and I'm proud to crown Joe Van Gogh the winner! I absolutely love this place, and it's a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up. The London Fog scone is also to die for, and I try to get there as early as possible in the day to be sure I'm one of the lucky few to snag one. Parking can be a bit of a challenge considering how many other businesses are in this mall, but nothing too terrible. I look forward to returning very very often!

I don’t usually drink coffee but if I do it’s always here

I love how it’s gay friendly. Everyone is so nice and the service is amazing.

I don’t know his name but my favorite employee or coffee barista is a young black man. He is super nice and to be awesome quite cute :)

Personally my best coffee days are when he works :)

This particular Joe Van Gogh is very well spaced out, with plenty of seating, a fast pickup counter, outdoor tables both uncovered and covered, and ample space for quiet work to be accomplished.

The breakfast pastries are fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend a Latte with their homemade Sea Salt Caramel syrup! Delicious!!

Good coffee and great baked goods. If you order online it is always ready on time. Almond macaroon cookies are the best cookies maybe ever.

During the pandemic, I've been mainly a Starbucks person due to the safety and convenience of the drive-through, but now that the whole family can be vaccinated, we wanted to branch out and support some local coffee shops. We stopped by today for coffee, tea, and brunch-style food and had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the coffee, chai, and food were delicious, and we appreciated the covered outdoor seating. With a toddler in the house and an extended family member in cancer treatment, we also appreciated the masking in line and sanitizer available (note to add that the folks eating indoors obviously did not have to keep their masks on). All in all, exactly what we were hoping for from a cool, local spot and we'll happily be back! Thanks for a great morning!

Macadamia milk is mind blowing. I still think about the orange blossom latte every day.
