Anthem Blue Cross: ANTI-patient

I am a 69-year-old female, retired teacher in California. I fell and broke my femur in four places. I need an open reduction, rods, screws, and a ton of physical therapy. The doctor recommended an acute Rehab center, but it was too late to do much of an intervention and request for reconsideration. Yes, I managed to get a rebuttal filed, but it wasn't my best work. I was in severe pain. I had nothing to do but stay where I was and wait for the next proposal.

I contracted Covid-19 and had to do 10 days of isolation. At the end of that, I was sent to rehab in a local facility. That facility offered excellent service and a Physical Therapy program with ample support and versatility for their patients. I was growing and improving daily. I was told that the insurance would cover me through August 4. So I had a timeline I was using.

I was notified on Friday, August 25, that I would not receive any services following that day (in reality although the actual termination date was 8/27 but there is no PT offered on the weekends). I asked for an extension and was told that it would be reviewed by an outside unbiased source (yea, right).

On paper, it might appear that I don't need any more help, but there are things I have not learned and am afraid that I will never learn: Stairs (I have stairs inside and outside my home), how to take a shower, how to manage cooking, etc when I cannot stand or reach items. I live with my husband in our own home. Both of us are 'retired.' I am self-employed with a newspaper and provide music lessons and art lessons for our tiny, isolated community, as well as sponsor the community garden through my nonprofit.

In reality, my husband has dialysis three days a week, so I am alone for 6 hours, three times a week. The cat has failed to show any signs of learning any helpful skills. There are three inside stairs - not a lot - but enough to set me up for failure. None of this makes any difference to ABC, I haven't received my second denial, but am expecting it by noon today.

When we signed up for secondary coverage, we had no idea that we were also giving up the concept that an actual physician would be the one deciding whether you needed this treatment or that. Imagine that: A doctor making the decision regarding your treatment. How revolutionary.

So our EXTRA payments and planning have actually COST us money, training, and convenience. There has been no mention of home health care. There has been no discussion offered about continued home physical therapy alternatives.

This program has been a waste of money and offers very little in the way of decent explanations and alternatives.

They have some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced they're not passionate about what they're doing they're only there to take your money I just switching over to these people and I am already highly regretting it I thought that my old plan was a problem but my plan isn't a problem since I've been having to deal with athem insurance for two weeks I've been taking off of very important medication, making me switch doctors that I've been dealing with for years, switching to Anthem has not benefit me whatsoever they have done nothing but hurt me and I have a severe disability. There is nothing worse than being kicked while you're already down dealing with people who arent passionate about their jobs I thought moving towards Anthem I will be dealing with better customer service but I'm not they make my other insurance people look like angels. THE GRASS ISNT GREENER ON THE OTEHR SIDE LIKE I THOUGHT. You can tell the bosses aren't good people by their agents! Who's training these people
