We enjoyed our week-long stay in the Rose room at the Lionel Champlin Guest House in Jamestown during June. It has the comfort of today and charm of a turn of the century home. Lisa, the proprietor, sets out a delightful self-serve breakfast with homemade treats and coffee in the morning...including organic granola and ample snacks. It is located in a quiet neighborhood a block and a half to town, eateries, shops and the ferry. It is very relaxing sitting on the front porch or if you like to sleep with the windows open. The other guests were lovely as well. A+++

We stayed at the guesthouse over July 4th weekend, and loved every minute of it.
The guesthouse itself is beautifully appointed and when you are there, you feel like you are part of a large family. The weather was so cool, we even kept the windows open during the night, and slept soundly.
Lisa is a great host, and even drove us down to the boat since we arrived late for our tour. Can’t wait to visit once again and stay at the Lionel Champlin!

The Lionel Champlin Guest House is a true gem. Lisa (the owner) is so lovely. She puts so much care and detail into her beautiful home and ensures the ultimate comfort and hospitality for her guests.
Our family enjoyed the gorgeous apartment upstairs. There was more than enough room for all four of us in this beautifully renovated, clean, comfortable apartment with a full kitchen and views of the harbor!!! She even had fluffy bath towels for us.
She took time with us to show us around the home and there was a lot! Fresh coffee and pastry in the morning. There was a kitchen with access to the fridge and snacks. The front porch is the perfect place to catch an evening breeze and stretch out. There are even maps in the hallways that show were all her guests were from.
It is so nice to have found the Lionel Champlin Guest House and to meet Lisa. She truly cares about each of her guests and provides the most wonderful experience. I cannot recommend this beautiful B&B enough! Go and stay, you will LOVE it!

If you have the opportunity, this is a must stay! Lisa was attentive, accommodating and so friendly- she made us feel welcome and at home before we arrived, during our stay, and beyond.

Lisa’s hospitality and attention to detail flourishes in this well kept historic home. We were delighted to walk into a beautiful foyer with delicious fresh baked cookies awaiting us! The kitchen/sun room is a step back in time with modern amenities which served us well. We were lucky enough to stay in the Rose Room which has a beautiful view of the Newport Bridge.

Overall, it was a magical experience that would be hard to find anywhere else. I look forward to staying again. In fact, we’ve already booked our next trip!

Stayed on the third floor. Gorgeous views of the water, sailboats and the Newport bridge. This charming 19th century building has been renovated for the comforts of a 21st century audience. Plenty of plugs, a quiet air conditioner, large, light bathroom and multiple windows to catch the breeze off the bay. The owner is so helpful and provides many extras like beach towels and bakery made breads. Truly a relaxing 5 days. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is so lovely every time I visit. This year Lisa renovated a gorgeous sitting room with a handy kitchen/coffee & snack area everyone can use. It's really beautiful with stained glass and I love having a quiet sit and coffee there.

The rooms are always immaculate and I like that all of them have their bathrooms so I can try different rooms and always land in a comfortable spot. I like color and art in Rose room best, but I think Captain's room has best view. Thank you Lisa for always making my visits special. I deeply appreciate your genuine spirit of hospitality.

Clean, comfortable, beautiful, quiet, well-located, relaxing...this was the PERFECT place for me, a solo female traveler looking for a quiet place, to unwind after touring places like Newport and Providence. The host is very kind and helpful and gave excellent recommendations of places to see/go. I would definitely stay here again! Oh, and the Rose Room is extremely beautiful with a comfortable bed. Ahhhhhh.

Lisa is exceptional. Everything is welcoming, laid-back, and easy. She throws food at you rapidly, which adds to the experience, since if you're here you're probably eating anyways.

She's great, our room in the Captain's Room had an absolutely phenomenal view. Everything was clean and particular, but it carried a most excellent hippie gothic Victorian vibe without any fluff. So incredible. We loved it.

I decided last minute to book a trip to Newport for Father's day weekend and found this place. We stayed in the "apartment" with our 2 girls (1 and 4yo). We had a private entrance to an upstairs single bedroom suite with kitchen. There was a walk in closet in the master bedroom which was the perfect nook to put our little one's pack n play and our toddler just slept in bed with us. Next time, I think I'll bring a small mat so she can just sleep on the floor because the bed is a queen and my toddler likes to take up half the bed.

It was super clean and everything just had that high quality, solid feel. It was not dusty or cheap feeling like many other airbnbs and bed+breakfasts we've stayed in. It was one of those places that looks even better in person than in the pictures.

Lisa, the inn keeper, was so welcoming and accommodating, it felt more like we were staying at a friend's home than an inn. She also prepared yogurt and fresh picked strawberries one morning and fresh bread the other, which we enjoyed on the front porch each morning. Both so delicious...I felt like I was on farm. Within a 2 min walk are also a few amazing restaurants and a small brewery. Plus, it was half the price of many other Newport inns. It was just the place we needed to recharge from the pandemic. We will definitely be coming back!

We loved our stay here. Came up here to do some sailing and we could not have found a more perfect place to stay. The Host, Lisa, was attentive, engaging and friendly. Very well kept, beautifully decorated And furnished Inn. Thank You. We'll be back soon.

Recently stayed at LCGH (December 2020-January 2021) in the lovely third floor apartment with views of the Narragansett Bay, Newport, and the Newport Pell Bridge. Spectacular sunrises!! Beautiful space with recently renovated kitchen and bathrooms. Thank you Lisa for making me feel so welcomed. Highly recommend staying at this lovely home while exploring Jamestown and surrounding communities.

This is a lovely, small, welcoming guest house. The hosts are friendly and very helpful for exploring the area. The breakfasts are delicious. Jamestown is a charming, small town, with some great restaurants, Jamestown Fish is a favorite and world class. Newport is ten minutes away over the bridge with many shops, restaurants, and a beautiful drive on the Ocean View drive. And of course the mansions are a great place to visit.

Loved this gem nestled on a quiet street in beautiful Jamestown RI. We walked to see the sun rise by the water just 2 blocks from the inn. Lovely homemade goodies are available throughout the day and the owners are very accommodating and kind. I haven't slept that well in a while. Room was beautifully decorated. We will be back. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I stayed here over Labor Day Weekend and absolutely loved it.

The owners, Lisa and Rusty, are very warm and welcoming. Although we weren't able to make it in until late (2AM) the first night, the two of them made sure we would be able to find our room easily and left the light on for us.

It is not a proper B&B in that there isn't a full breakfast - they openly advertise this - but they do leave out baked goods, fruit and coffee that were great. Definitely more than we were expecting, delicious too.

We stayed in the Captain' Room and were really impressed. The website doesn't completely show how good some of the views are. It has a few steps that lead to a reading area with a beautiful view of the port. The bathroom in the room was really nice. There were two sinks and everything was quite luxurious and new. The rest of the room was really pleasant, with all kinds of neat furniture, decorations and books.

We wish we could have stayed longer because we didn't have time to fully utilize the house. Downstairs had plenty of space and amenities that were great for getting air, on the patio and porch; and reading in the living room.

Overall we were very happy with the Lionel Champlin Guest House. We are anxious to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I've stayed here several times now, in all seasons. Lionel Champlin is SO cozy and perfect at every time of year. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and all decorated well. Its location is perfect - one block from the docks/harbor area, and two blocks from the main street, which has many cute dining and breakfast options. Lisa and Rusty are very hospitable and I can't recommend LCGH enough!

I just spent a relaxing weekend at the Lionel Champlin Guest House. I can't remember when I slept so soundly. I was in the Blue Room, which reminds me of weekends at my grandmother's, only with a wonderfully hot shower in the attached bathroom. The owners of this B&B were very welcoming and showed us how to get to the main attractions on the island - Beavertail and Fort Wetherill. I also enjoyed a great cup of coffee while reading the newspaper in front of a warm fire. While RI may not be the best winter vacation destination, the beauty of Jamestown shines regardless of the weather. I can't wait to return to this B&B during the summer.
