Small Box Music is the best music store around. Firstly, the vibe of the store is great. When you walk in, it feels like a place where you can hang out with a coffee and friends and talk music. Secondly, the entire staff is very knowledgeable and down to earth. It doesn’t matter if you are buying, looking, or just wanting to hang out. They make you feel welcome. Thirdly, they have a wonderful selection of new and used guitars, amps, effects, accessories, and anything else you may need. Fourthly, the repair shop will show your guitar some love. Whether you are just getting a little tuneup or having an overhaul of something. They will get your guitar playing better than before. Throw in amazing and fair prices and you have Small Box Music. I’ve personally purchased multiple guitars there and had them do tuneups on my guitars as well as installation of pickups, and switches. But, don’t take my word for it, stop in for yourself. You’ll be glad you did!

I purchased my last guitar here and I am more than happy with everything. I wasn’t even expecting to buy anything when I went into the store but there was a Taylor that spoke to me, not to mention it wasn’t priced like it was from a small locally owned store so I had to get it. I will be back for sure. Thank you!

I brought my instrument in for a restring. I’m new to it and Jason was full of information for me. Quaint shop, just a very pleasant experience. They were very nice to my dog Harri too😉

Small Box is an awesome music shop! They always offer fair prices and have great deals on new/used gear. The shop inside is a comfortable setting that openly invites anyone to come in and shop. In addition to that, all the employees are great people and easy to work with. They do a great job at fixing up all of my guitars as well. The level of service they provide is second to none.

John and the team at Small Box are some of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met. Their passion for musical instruments and their people skills make for a great experience every time I am in there. A quick trip to buy something as simple as a set of strings turns into a 30 minute conversation with staff and other customers as we talk gear and family. The staff knows me by name and even asks about my family. John even knows my kids’ names. That’s customer service you don’t find anywhere else. They have top notch gear and can order in anything you need. They also give back to the community with raffles and donations to great causes. I know it’s difficult to do that in today’s economy, especially as a small business but they care more about community presence than taking people’s money. I will continue to do all my business at Small Box and I recommend them to everyone I talk to regarding music needs.

Small box is an absolute gem for our area. On staff, you’ll find some of the areas top musicians who are beyond knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a must stop for me during the annual acoustics for autism where John opens his doors for a good cause. Good people. Good gear. Buy local.

I've known John and the Small Box Crew since before they opened. This store is a true Northwest Ohio gem! The staff is patient and knowledgeable, the prices are competitive, and the gear selection is excellent! They have treated my family very well over the years, and they certainly have earned our business! Definitely worth checking out!

Small Box is a fantastic local music store. I’ve had the opportunity to play live music there multiple times, and while I don’t play guitar, the rest of my band always end up discovering beautiful instruments for these sessions. Their selection is wide, and their customer service is also fantastic. Would highly recommend them to someone looking for a guitar, especially something a little special.

Bought a Kala ukulele there and had another restrung. Very happy with the service I received. No issues. Fair price. Friendly staff. I also traded in a guitar and feel that they were very fair with the price they gave me for the guitar. Satisfied customer.

I can confidently say this is one of the best music stores in the city. Extremely down to earth and helpful staff, and a very good selection of gear for all budgets. Their website is also incredibly well laid out and easy to navigate. Having their inventory online is a godsend for anyone who likes online window shopping and/or buying from home. Cannot wait for my next visit!!!

Went in to get a guitar for a 3 year old to start playing. The staff was amazing and helped us so much! They suggested getting a ukulele for her to start and move up in size as she grows. They said if she doesn’t like it, bring her in and we’ll find one she does, but she loved it! Great place, great atmosphere, great prices!! Could not recommend any more, and it’s the only place we’ll ever go!!!

One of the best music stores in the area! I take my guitars here for setup and they always have the coolest gear in the store. Never know what you're going to walk out with. Can't recommend enough!

5 stars because I can’t give more. I have many stories but here are two indicative of the kind of service you’ll get at Small Box. In an early trip I bought a guitar from a new line. I was the first to buy one and was told that John said the first buyer got a tweed, hard shell case thrown in with the purchase.

Story two: during the pandemic I ordered a guitar that was out of stock. John delivered a different guitar to tide me over and said I could make the change when the one I ordered arrived or keep the one he brought. This kind of service is routine there. I have never heard a musician say a bad word. These folks are GREAT!

I've been going to John and Small Box Music since they opened on Conant Street and before. They've always been extremely helpful. They go above and beyond to cater to their customers. I could not ask for a better shop. I love these guys and what they do for the music community!

As a former employee, I have seen the care and attention that goes into each and every piece that is selected to be sold in this wonderful little gem of a shop. The owner is a stand up guy and all of the employees are kind and helpful. Small box and all of its people are truly a treasure to have in our community!

I drive an hour and a half to visit this store every month or so. Best Taylor selection around, knowledgeable and friendly staff and they work hard to make sure you always leave feeling happy about your purchase. I’ve bought dozens of items from these guys and anytime an issue arose they bent over backwards to make it right.

Hands down the place to go for all things guitar. Whether you are going in for a top-tier Taylor, or simply to strum your dream guitar that you can't yet afford, they treat you the same. They might even jam with you a while. Pro-tip: stop at the Village Idiot nearby for the best pizza in town, and have a few beers to loosen up a bit. Then, walk down to Small Box and buy a guitar or two. Finish off your afternoon by walking across the street to Amity Ink and get a tattoo as a memoir.

The guys working there was great. I got to test an electric guitar as a beginner! He was very kind and helped me hook it up to try it out. Very nice environment.

Never had such fair and honest and enjoyable experiences with both buying and selling gear than I have for years at Small Box Music. John and the boyz are the real deal in every way. Highly recommend.
