J. B. Schmelzer, D.D.S., General Dentist

Dr. Schmelzer was extremely nice and informative. Usually I am hesitant to go to the dentist but him and his wonderful staff made me feel very welcome. He whitened my teeth as well as fixed some of my orthodontic problems and he has always done a great job with my teeth. I can always trust him with my teeth. Thank you Dr. Schmelzer!!

I am not one to write reviews; however, I really must in this case. I have never been a fan of going to the dentist and have had numerous issues over the years with trying to find a dentist office that was great both in terms of the dentist, and the staff. I can't believe how great The Schmelzer Dental Clinic is, and I actually look forward to going. Everyone there, from the front desk to the dental chair and music is wonderful.
The Schmelzer Dental Clinic is great about billing and coverage issues. They make it very clear what is covered and what is not and there are no surprises.
I wholeheartedly recommend Bucky DDS and Staff for all ages.

I drive from Columbus to Marion to see Dr. Schmelzer because I truly believe he provides the best dental care. He provides advanced technology to get the best results and is passionate about his work. I have been going to Dr. Schmelzer for the past 5 years and always feel welcome and receive the best service. I couldn't ask for more.

I started going to Dr. Schmelzer back in 2000 he redid my orthodontics (they were not done right from the previous orthodontist). He has always had very good chairside manner, he explains every procedure he is about to perform. I also started taking my children to him as a fegular dentist and an orthodontist. They love going to the Dentist now, he and his staff are so very friendly! Thank you to the Schmelzer team!!!!

Finally found a great dentist! Dr. Schmelzer is very professional, yet at the same time caring and friendly. My husband has finally found a dentist that knows how to make a good set of dentures too! Thanks Dr. Schmelzer!

I would like to say " Thanks So Much",,starting with Ms.Bridget ( I hope I spelled it right) on helping me get approved ,, to the Ladies in the back working with "The Wonderful" Dr.Schmelzer for making me smile AGAIN.. Everyone is polite, respectful, and generally more concerned about my dentures fitting and looking best for me then the money..I will definitely Recommend this place...

Best Dentist in Central Ohio. We have been going to see Dentist Schmelzer for years. I would recommend him to anyone.

Great dentist, unfriendly office staff.

Though the staff were quite nice to me, the dentist himself was extremely rude. He didn't care that I was in a lot of pain due to one of my fillings that fell out, which led to exposed nerves in the tooth, and extreme pain. He didn't use (or even suggest using) a local anaesthetic, and passive aggressively rushed putting a temporary filling in my tooth. He didn't even clean out my tooth before putting the temporary filling in. Now I'm experiencing extreme shooting pain coupled with a migraine. So now I'm in an even worse situation than I was before.

I am leaving my original review below but have changed my rating based on the treatment of my partner. She in in a wheelchair and there is no wheelchair access, but that wasn't a big deal I just helped her down the two flights of stairs. Once she was in to see the doctor he was very mean to her and made several cripple jokes. I had a fine experience with him so I am not sure if he hates women the handicapped or both but I would not reccomend him.

Dr. Schmelser and his staff are very friendly and he is an excellent dentist, he is the only dentist I have ever had that caused me 0 pain. even the injection of Novocaine was pain free. It took quite a while for the topical anesthetic to take effect, which is normal for me, typically dentists lose patients and inject Novocaine prior to the topical anesthetic taking effect dr. schmelzer waited for the topical to fully numb my mouth and then injected the Novocaine. I am very satisfied with my experience and would highly recommend you visit this dentist.

Horrible!!! I made an appointment for my child specifically for orthodontics because she needs braces. While on the phone I made sure they accepted our insurance. They said yes so I made the appointment. Today I drive 45 minutes to get there. While he was doing the exam he informed me that he only does braces for patients who have been with him over the years. What??? I don't understand why they would set up an orthodontic appt for a new patient then. Thanks for wasting my time!!

My first appointment was for a check-up, and he said there were a couple fillings he "didn't like the looks of". I'd had them for years and never had a bit of trouble with either of them, but I trusted him (I shouldn't have), and let him replace them. The charge was many, many hundreds of dollars, and about 9 months later, one fell out! I was just watching TV, not eating anything, and this lump was suddenly in my mouth, and I felt this huge gaping hole in my tooth. I called them about it, and was told that yes, they would fix it, BUT I'D HAVE TO PAY AGAIN! So, anyone I hear of that's looking for a dentist, I steer them away from this guy. A couple relatives have stopped going to him because of what he did and tried to do.
