The Game Haven

I've now used this store three times now, primarily for purchasing Pokemon card singles. Their online setup is on par with most larger places online to purchase cards which is impressive. Their prices are a bit higher than TCG Player, but when you factor in TCG Player shipping and the fact that if you pick up the cards in store you don't have to worry about them being damaged in the mail, the price is basically the same. I'll continue to use this store for purchasing singles in the future. Staff is also pretty helpful.

Huge tcg selection in stock and one of the best online websites local here in dayton. Great location and staff. Prices are great as well. Can't find a single negative thing to say about the place. 10/10

I used to go to this store a lot when I lived in the area. I'm getting back into magic the gathering and my family wanted to play so we headed over while I was staying with my parents and grabbed some commander decks, booster packs, and extra cards. The staff was very helpful and gave us good advice as we reenter the game.

This is a great store, very clean and organized. The owners and the people who work there are very friendly. They have a great selection of miniature games, including Legion and MCP, plenty space for games, good selections of boardgames and TCG, they have a Pokémon league.

Took my son in to try to sell some cards on black Friday. That didn't end up going as planned but that wasn't anything negative on the stores part, simply the cards he was trying to sell. He did however end up making his first black Friday purchase and scored an amazing deal! The attendent that helped us was absolutely amazing and patient as ever as I had my son handle most of the interaction as a learning experience. And they have pokemon training the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 5-8 which my son is very excited about. Definitely will visit again and reccomend this store!

I was in town for work and stopped by to buy some packs for a new MTG release. Store was nice and organized. Staff was nice.

But I am 90% sure they sold me resealed Collectors Boosters packs. My mistake for buying loose packs and being excited so I didn't examine them very well when purchasing.

But when getting home and looking at the packs there was clearly more air in the pack than usual, the packs were more difficult to open than usual with larger glue leftover when opened, and I also found a card inserted backwards into the pack half-way through one of the three packs I bought. I have probably opened thousands of MTG packs and never have found one with cards placed in back to front.

So nice enough place, just make sure if buying loose sealed packs you ask them to open a new sealed box for you to pick the packs from and examine them.

Update:
This whole interaction didn't sit right with me so I I dug into this more and asked around a lot. Seems the issues I identified are somewhat common in Collectors Boosters made in Japan. I apologize greatly for casting doubt on the integrity of this store and it's staff. They were nothing but nice and professional to me. I have updated my review score accordingly. Hopefully no harm no foul.

A neat, quiet little place I love to go to for quality boardgames! They've got really good products for D&D and other rpgs, card games, and desktop stuff.

My son and I recently stopped in the shop, and we were very impressed with the level of service and the variety of merchandise they had. We are both avid MTG Commander players, and they had a lot of the cards we were looking for at great prices. We plan on doing some online orders from them in the future. Top quality shop with super helpful staff.

Overall great experience here. I appreciate how clean this store is honestly. Staff were very kind and helpful. On the smaller side of retro gaming, but The Game Haven makes up for it in their tabletop gaming products. Can't wait to go back and purchase some D&D minis for my next campaign!

This place is great for getting anything you need for Magic the Gathering! You can even order singles on their website and pick em up same day! Staff is super friendly and the events they host are allot of fun

The staff is knowledgeable, patient and super welcoming. I've been coming to the shop for years. It feels good to support them as a local business. It's nice to have a local place to socialize that isn't a bar. Keep Game Haven alive!

Went to pick up a few cards to teach my son how to play Magic the Gathering, left a customer for life. These guys are top notch, incredibly helpful store staff, what I was looking for wasn't available, but they offered me suggestions, advice, and helped more than anyone could ever ask. I love this store as I do most stores I get my magic cards from. Most of the staff are really cool dudes and are really helpful. I am just getting familiar with this location so I will update this review sometime in the future. Like all card stores the only thing I can complain about is the card mark up but this is to be expected. I hate biting that bullet but I think it's good to support your LGS. Today I paid a good amount more for a Valki then I could have gotten it for on TCG but it's worth it to support small businesses. Unfortunately being a collector I end up spending a lot more at these stores then I would online. So far a couple hundred more but it is worth it for convenience and to support the businesses that keep our game thriving and social 😁 would highly recommend. If you are a magic player they have a huge amount of cards in inventory for you to find. Just hand them a list and they will have almost all the cards on that list if it's from a traditional set and not super rare.

The staff member who helped us was awesome - answered all of our questions and was friendly and respectful, even when I asked a kind of dumb question. Their selection of mtg cards, mini figs, and board games is impressive and worth the stop. I will be back!!

Stopped in to check out the board games available for purchase and although the selection isn’t as big as I thought it’d be, it’s a cool little shop. Doesn’t hurt that Donatos is right there too. :)

Best brick and motar store in town. I have two personal favorites of their staff that are funny and very helpful. The owner being one of them he can explain new games so a child can understand them and does it all while trying to give you the best deal possible. Have never had better service at a game store. Had gone out of their way on a few occasions just to help me out. I moved here only a couple weeks ago and this is already my go to. I used to tour game stores wherever I traveled and I will say this is one of the best. You won't be disappointed, anything they don't have they are willing to order so go here for both playing games and buying.

I love the feeling of this store. If you are looking for a cozy store that doesn't feel like you are constantly being pressured in to sales this is that place. Their selection of cards is reasonably priced and they are one of the only places that has those Commons you need in every sideboard but forgot in your other sideboard.

Their selection of tabletop and board games is good for getting people in to these hobbies, and once you are looking for the esoteric stuff they can order it for you easily. It helps in a medium where you have to have the thing the same day as you want to use it.

Over all this store feels right and doesn't intimidate like some of the others I have been in.
