Left voicemails 3 days in a row, called probably 4 times each day. Still no call back. Horrible experience trying to get reasonable information. Their website is very unorganized and permit info/ requirements are vague.

The Building Department not only disrespected me and my realtor after we sent my Furnace Certificate over four times; for a re-inspection added more items and wrote about an item that the front office worker said the inspector George never even saw. The inspector never contacted me or the seller to discuss any issues of being locked out.
The lack of communication, respect, and work ethic from this city is the exact reason why it is going nowhere and Becky is an absolutely atrocious front desk worker. I am young and cannot wait to move out of this horrible city!

Update: After 3 separate court dates for this, the prosecutor dismissed the case. The Westland City Ordinance officer appeared to be an annoyance to prosecutor this whole time. I was finally able to sell my house and be done with Westland!

Gave me a misdemeanor citation to appear in court for renting a house out without a rental certificate from the city of Westland. Problem is, the house isn't rented out. But the court date is mandatory. Does Westland just throw darts at a map and make decisions on houses without talking to the homeowners? This is why I left Westland.

Never will I ever purchase property in Westland. The process you have to go through just to sell your home is unreal. We submitted plans to have a porch built and the plans were approved. We built the porch and when they city came out to inspect it they did not approve. Now the city is saying we have to pay $75 to have it reinspected. The amount of money they drain from you for pointless inspections is frustrating beyond words. I cannot wait until my home is sold so I don't have to deal with this anymore.

They charged me $45.00 to register my mechanical license for 3 years.I just got an email from Lara the state of Michigan. They can only charge a maximum of $15.00 . The $15.00 covers us to the expiration of my license. How many contractors have they ripped off. They owe me a $30.00 refund.

Nice building, but unpleasant staff. We had to pick up files in person that could've easily been emailed.

Terrible they never answer the phone

The building inspector is terrible.
