Blue Owl Coffee East Lansing

A great location with a good amount of seats. This place fills up with college students studying intently drinking plenty of coffee. The blue owl, properly named for a nocturnal creature being by a college campus, lots of caffeine consumed.
The staff was nice, upbeat and helpful. I enjoyed my original hot chocolate but there are many flavorful options available as well.

This coffee was so good! We got it to go and service was very quick. The baristas were also so sweet and even gave me suggestions on what to order. I’d definitely visit here again!

UPDATE:
The original review was written about their previous location on Albert Street. I went to the new location on trowbridge and while the employees are kind as ever, the shop just isn’t the same. I assumed they were changing location for an upgrade, but this new location doesn’t have the sunlight, the open space, or the quaint atmosphere. It is much more sterile and silent now, like a Starbucks.

Love this place :)
I live nearby, and come in when I need to get work done. It could be considered loud, but the smells of coffee, the music, and the consistent bustle of people around you is the perfect recipe for people who like working in public spaces. One wall is all windows and I love the natural light that floods the whole shop.
In the years I’ve been coming here, I’ve never met an unpleasant employee. Quite the opposite ! In fact, not long ago I ordered my usual iced Earl Grey latte, but it was a little weak, so I asked the workers if they had steeped the tea enough. It turned out that their coffee machine’s hot water was not heating up enough, so they quickly brought out their kettle to make my tea instead. Since then, I’ve had a perfect latte every time ! It was that extra effort that makes this place so special, especially since coffee shop baristas aren’t always well acquainted with the science of making tea. Love them. Love it <3
My one gripe is that the baked goods tend to be a bit too sweet. But whatevs. Maybe im just an old geezer.

It was so cute and nice in here. I went in my first date ever with a guy I really like here today. We both got the hot cocoa, and it was lovely. Tasted like it was made with care, but that might just be my delusion. <3

Second location for Blue Owl, just as beautiful as the first! Coffee is perfection. I really enjoy the vibe at these locations. The snacks are always good and are a perfect match for all the delicious brewed coffees and teas. The nitro coffees are really good. The flavorings in the lattes are delicious! Pure essence. I really enjoyed the peanut butter blossom. Love their commitment to artists and the art world. if you're looking for a great late night coffee shop, look no further. You're here!

Blue Owl has a really cool space in East Lansing. I love the counter, which is made from old suitcases and travel trunks! Great coffee and ambiance. It is also conveniently located near basically everything downtown. Great place!

Great customer service, the friendly Baristas were very helpful, making good drinks and being efficient behind the counter.
The coffee is great, roasted out of Midland, MI. It has more of a medium earthy taste.
They offer an assortment of items for your enjoyment.

Best time of my undergrad and time in East Lansing. A coffee shop like not other. Their coffee drinks are well-made. Always tasty. Their indoor vibes go along with work environment and social events. Perfect for any occasion.

Extremely knowledgeable about their coffee, but without the snobbery I've experienced at other high quality coffee shops! They were happy to give a brief description of the options about my order and even more happy to go into further detail when asked. They never talked down to me and helped me learn something new about coffee! Would highly recommend this place to someone for a small meeting or just catching up with a friend; great atmosphere.

Blue Owl is great. Their team genuinely loves what they do and desires to get to know their customers (even though they always have a ton of people coming through). Great coffee. Great environment. Great location (especially once the Center City District finishes up construction in a couple months).

The chai latte was delicious and the service was fast and attentive. Also, the open mic that is running on Thursdays was spectacular. So much talent in that coffee shop tonight. Full of support and transparency. I will most certainly be back for more.

This new location has great seating and nice staff! The coffee is delicious, but I wish there were some vegan food options, even it was just some kind of granola/energy bar. However, I think this will be a good place to study/hang out even if it's a bit farther from campus!

Very clean coffee with with good atmosphere. I get simple black coffee but the taste is flavorful.
Staff was very friendly, there is another space they have across from side entrance.
It would be a good little place to go for meet ups but not a place to go for peace and quiet.

I go to Blue Owl about two or three times a week. My friends and I use the space for creativity and writing, and Blue Owl serves as a high quality space for this exact kind of work.

I don’t frequent many coffee shops, so I didn’t know what to get the first time I came in. When Terrence (my fave Blue Owl employee) heard me saying I had no idea what I wanted, he offered to surprise me. After asking what flavors I liked, he made me a brown sugar latte, and I’ve ordered it every time since!

We’ve spent upwards of 6 hours there every time we go, as there doesn’t often seem to be a viable reason to leave! The back private room is often available to us, and the environment is relaxing and inspiring to us, with all of its plants and natural lighting.

We love every minute we spend here.
