SIS International Shop - Fair Trade

The lady who runs it is super passionate about helping people. She was very helpful in the store. And the store is just a wonderful Melting Pot of different cultures and amazing finds. I suggest everyone take a browse and here at least once. If not more because there's always new stuff

I love this shop! SIS International is the perfect place to find unique gifts and cards for any occasion. I always seem to learn something new about world cultures when I visit, and I never leave empty-handed. This store is a wonderful addition to downtown Davenport.

They carry dishwasher-safe Toys made from recycled plastic. The pottery is out of this world. The clothing is comfortable and unique. The toys will be played with for generations to come. The variety of teas is amazing. And the spices come from Africa, Where else can you get hot sauce? That is that good.

I visited SIS International the day after a concert at the Redstone Room, and was instantly charmed by the shop. It's not a huge place, but it is *packed* floor to ceiling with nifty goodies from around the world. I was really impressed by the range and quality of merchandise, and along with that the price range. One expects to pay a premium for fair trade, hand-made, and artisan products. SIS isn't exactly an exception - things aren't cheap here - but the prices are very reasonable and you get good value for your money, especially considering that your purchases support decent standards of living for the people who make the merchandise.

I bought some candles and soaps for a birthday present, but it was hard to choose. There were a lot of kitchen items that were tempting, figurines and knick-knacks that were actually really cool, a lot of fabric items, and even a few musical instruments. The amount of quality stuff here is really impressive, and I'd bet you could find something for almost anyone.

Moreover, I had a lovely chat with the owner. Her enthusiasm for her work, and her store, and for helping people find something unique was evident. This made the experience even better. I definitely will be back next time I'm in the area.

Oh - don't forget to check out the candy shop next door. It's awesome, too!
