Local spot full of soul, character, friendly staff and people. Food was full of tasteful flavors, especially, the fried pickles (a must order). Had a great time with my wife, spending time in the establishment for a long period of time talking over beers. Staff didn’t rush nor care and were welcoming.

Great prices too.

Very nice hole in the wall location. Nice, clean, and calm location at the time we visited. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and music choices. Bartender was very nice and friendly and quick to respond.

I had the bangers and mash. The beans were yummy and classic beans. Mashed potatoes had a hint of sweetness which paired well with the very savory brown sauce. And the bangers were fantastic, cooked until a nice crunchy outer layer. My wife enjoyed her chicken bacon wrap very much and thought the English chips were great.

We will definitely be coming back in the future and I highly recommend that you stop in as well!

When you think of a British pub, this place fits the bill. A small slice of Britain just off the main street in Shepherdstown yielded an excellent beer selection on tap and some great pub appetizers. The bartenders were also the waitstaff, and the place was busy. TV's with sports playing (but not overly loud or taking over the place, dark wood behind the bar, regulars at the bar, and a steady stream of people coming and going.

The place was not highly rated but I think it is a diamond in the rough. You should look the place over and take it for what it is: a pub in the US with good food, good service, and good beverages. Shepherdstown is a small community where smoking is still prevalent so you'll run into some stink there. The D is dog-friendly so you may or may not like that aspect. Cozy, quaint place. The fish and chips hit the spot and were prepared well. The chips are hand cut fries but still full the bill. Service was quick and our server was very nice. No kids menu but they do have, grilled cheese, BLT, or sides like bacon or fries too make a kid happy.

Fast and friendly service and delicious food and beer selection. The fish and chips was nice and crispy while still being moist.

I'm in town for a wedding and stopped here for dinner before checking in to my Airbnb. I ordered the fish and chips and they were exactly how fish and chips were supposed to be. My boyfriend ordered the bangers and mash and they were great. The gravy was very flavorful. Everyone here was overwhelming friendly - staff and guests. Best part is that we were able to bring our puppy inside and everyone here gave him LOTS of love! Would definitely recommend!

Was in town for work and found this place. The locals there were incredibly friendly. Didn't eat but only had their beers. Glad I found this place

I love this place! Always so welcoming and the food! The food is wonderful! The people, the food and the atmosphere, the best! Plus they always make over my dog, Poppy (Schnooper-Schnaps)! Can't go wrong here!

The daytime staff at the Dev are absolutely fa-nominal. My friend introduced me to this place a year and a half ago and I have never even considered another bar in Shepherdstown. Food is great, Cook is great, Jason the bartender is polite, friendly, and patient!

If you want friendly service and great food this is the place to be! I would not recommend coming past 5 or 6 because the evening staff are only worried about talking amongst themselves and more focused on the football game then the customers(Sunday evenings)

Dog friendly, Guinness on tap (of course) and the best burger and thick cut fries in the area.

If you need a pub, the Dev is your answer. Fun staff, great drinks at reasonable price, great British inspired food fare, and a cast of regular characters worthy of a Larry David sitcom. It's sort of small but that adds to the charm. It's open later than just about anything else around here, and live music is a regular occurrence. Worth a visit or fifty.

Stayed locally for the weekend. Tried this place on a whim. Great decision! The atmosphere is unique and welcoming. Staff is amazing. Cook even came out and made sure our food was cooked to our liking. Above expectations. Great place. Had a ball. Will be coming back again soon.

Great atmosphere, Tom and Alejandro are attentive bartenders, and the customers are friendly. Tuesday nights you'll have the place to yourself. Friday and Saturday are of course the nights worth going to.
