Battle Axe Barbell

If you are serious about strength training, this is the place--the amount of specialty equipment in this space is almost insane, especially if you are a strongman athlete. I've been coming here for 3 years and I swear the equipment is upgraded practically every time I walk in the door. The passion and love the owners have for the gym (and strength sports) is evident, and the value for your dollar can't be beat.

One of the things I love most about the gym is the growing community of awesome strong women and the supportive environment for all. While women are making amazing strides I strength sports right now, it's not always the case that they feel at home in a strength focused gym. That's just not the case at BAB. If you're a woman on the fence about strength sports, you'll find a home and a place to grow here!

This might be known as a strongman & powerlifting gym, but its owner and members know the most important thing for everyone is that you hit your fitness goals whatever they may be. In the 2+ years I've been here, this place is consistently getting upgrades and growing its presence in the competitive world. Dog friendly too! Join us.

I currently live in the Austin area but visit Dallas often to see family & friends. I’m always in search of an independent gym that has great powerlifting equipment but also plenty of high quality bodybuilding machines to supplement as well. I’ve been to several gyms in the dallas area and Battle Axe has been one of my favorites to date!

They have a ton of powerlifting equipment (3 combos, 3-4 OPBs, deadlift platforms, calibrated plates) and a ton of great bodybuilding machines (belt squat, hack squat, cable machine, dbs, and many many more that I have attached pictures of). They also have a ton of strongman equipment if that is something you are interested in (not pictured).

Besides the equipment, the community has been very welcoming to someone who was only visiting for 2 weeks. It all starts with Derek! He is the owner of the gym but is super friendly and talks to each member at the gym. As I got to know him more, you could see that he put his heart and soul into the gym and is always looking for ways to make improvements (for example he just added that new carpet for us powerlifters). He also just had his first powerlifting meet this past weekend which seemed to go well! All the members/staff I met were super kind as well and helpful if you need anything at all!

I’m excited to be able to go to this gym whenever I’m in the Dallas area! You know you have something good whenever you have a built a nice positive gym environment and community. Thanks again, Derek! Hope you can come check out Gameday Barbell in Austin whenever you visit 😄

Really great owners, very personable and professional. The atmosphere is very much a ‘do your own thing’ type of place, but having gone here twice now, I’ve already met a few people that are willing to offer advice on form (I need it). Can’t recommend this place enough.

I really enjoyed my workout here, they had plenty of TSS combo racks and Rouge kilo plates which is the perfect set up I need, they also have various machines for accessories so even if you’re not a power lifter you can still have a great workout. The atmosphere is awesome with the garage fan up and anyone is able to que music on aux

Very clean and chill gym. The vibes are great and so is the equipment from a powerlifting standpoint. The owner is very chill and involved with his members. Would highly recommend coming by if you are in the area.

Battle Axe has wide range of equipment for powerlifters and strong(hu)man competitors. Everything was clean and in good condition. Setting up a day pass was an easy experience, and I was able to access the gym when most convenient for me on my trip. Highly recommended for travelers.

I visited battle axe for a week with my friend, and was very happy with my experience. Lots of equipment for any exercise, nice facility and great people at this place.

I met with Derek to take a tour of the facility and it was amazing! They have everything you could need for cross training, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, strongman, or classic hypertrophy work! I'm signing myself and my husband up today 💪
