I am so glad that we got to visit the 200th anniversary at Ft. Gibson. I especially enjoyed the folks who were reenacting people and activities common in Ft. Gibson history.

A very interesting place. Must stop in and tour. Self guided tours so you can take your time. They still bake bread in their amazing bakery on certain days. There is a gift shop. Family friendly and just a lot of history.

Nice fort to visit in eastern part of Oklahoma. It has multiple areas to visit. Main fort area that has parking, which extends with a few more buildings and a couple chimneys. Further up the road about 1 mile is the museum with a few more buildings including the first school for the blind of OK, a bakery and a building in ruins. A few miles more and you get to the dam too! Worth the stop!

If you're into frontier historical forts this should be pinned on your map. The Fort has two distinct sections. The lower quadrangle has the main post with the barracks, brig, Commander's quarters, etc. The upper section has a five or so original stone buildings. Enough displays to keep you engaged, but not so many to as to be overwhelming. Various artifacts to see on the grounds as well. The Fort supports various events throughout the year so check out the website for more info. I also enjoyed the old downtown Ft Gibson, the former road bridge (next to train trestle off wooden fort) and the National Cemetery.

We visited in late January and were the only ones there. Got lots of attention from the ladies in the museum. haha We really enjoyed seeing the old reconstructed fort and the "newer" stone buildings. The history was really compelling and you could almost imagine what it would have been like back then.

Neat historic site but a lot of it is blocked off due to lack of maintenance. Its sad to see how the structure has deteriorated over the last 30 years.

Excellent and important site for not only Oklahoma history, but also US Native American history. This site is a first step in the US policies towards the Native populations as the door to the frontier.

Stopped here to check it out. No one around but ground were open. Found donation box so we place cash there. I wish there were some interpretation signs. Nice to check out though.

This is a great place to learn about American history in Oklahoma. The staff are knowledgeable and kind. The site dates back to 1845 and 1932.

This place is a treasure. A building built in 1840s, and a recreated fort! So much history- It's truly amazing. The bake day creates heavenly bread! It's wonderful!

I learned so much when we visited. Eventhough you can't go in the submarine, it's still worth a trip there.

A very interesting place of history in the state. There are several small sites in the area with original and restored 19th century architecture.
