Fantastic place to stop if you're in the area. So much to see inside. Lovely woman running the place. Delicious jalapeno sourdough bread and some fun sodas to try!

I stopped in to get a soda. Very neat place, very nice people. She gave me a sample of the Persimmon Bread-delicious! I really wanted the Pumpkin Bread so that’s what I bought. Next time I will buy both. Good place to stop on the trail 😎

We drove from Blowing Rock down Globe Rd. which took about an hour, to hike Harper Creek Falls. Afterwards we stopped by Coffey's to get something to drink and a few snacks. The Store-Museum is fabulous to wander through with all the history we wanted to spend more time but is was in between heavy rain storms and we felt a little rushed to beat the crazy storms. But the lady working the counter who makes the wonderful bread was a blast to talk to. So incredibly sorry that I don't remember her name! We definitely have to go back because my husband wanted the praline bread and mistakenly picked up the pistachio but he loved it! Oh and I want to try her famous strawberry rhubarb jelly. Great store highly recommend taking the beautiful drive out to Coffey's.

A lovely place in the middle of nowhere to learn about the history of the area, grab some snacks and poke around. Staff was very helpful in answering questions and talking about the history or Mortimer and Edgemont.

Love this place and the woman there with all the info on history. I think this place was 135 years old. So many cool old things to look at...I was in heaven!

This is one of, if not my favorite place in North Carolina. I get out here as often as I can. The store is a gem. Something out of a movie. The drive through is gorgeous and this is the best place to rest for a while. The homemade pimento cheese sandwich is delicious, as is the banana bread. The owners are friendly. As a rural girl, who loves driving backroads, and history, this place is my heaven.

So happy to see this historic place renovated and kept open by it's new owners. I have property in the area and stop by the old store frequently when out fly fishing or riding my favorite Forest Service Roads. Eric and Teresa Clark have worked wonders for this little ghost town and I love it. IF I could give them 10 stars, it would be done. "Bo" Cash, McDowell County, NC

I used to visit this place 40 years ago as a kid. It still have that great old-time country store look and feel...but updated with a well stocked inventory. New owners are great. They even went and got a tractor to tow my van when I got stuck in the mud. If you are near Wilson's Creek go visit, you will not be disappointed.

This place is outstanding! In the middle of nowhere this store has been open 132 years serving this community on the top of the mountain. What a fantastic experience seeing all the relics of the past including the old old post office. Make the trip, it's worth the drive.

Oh just great memories when I come to Edgemont NC. The old Coffey's Store bring back so many memories. After my Highschool Graduation (1972) I planned to spend a week camping at Mortimer alone - fishing, hiking, and enjoying one heck of a week. That changed on Thursday. A tour bus pulled in and unloaded 50 Girl Scouts from Charlotte.
There went the quite surroundings.
What luck - I was the only teenage boy around. I didn't cook another meal all week. Great bunch of kids and adults in that troop. Some great memories. If you were part of that trip - text me.

I remember going to the store as a child. It was a nice trip into history. The antiques and memorabilia really made it special. * Be sure to grab a loaf of the pistachio bread.

Great historic place to stop if you are in the greater Edgemont metropolitan area. Lots of pictures from the region during earlier times (hay day). Also a gathering spot for the community, which makes it a good place to meet people.

I fell in love with the owners and their country store., I worked at store below them, but myself and staff would visit this store because of the delicious homemade food they had to offer. Always friendly and helpful.. stop by and take a trip back into history because it is also a museum.

Under new owership since April 2021. Longer hours of operation, much nicer & organized inside. Lots of interesting history of the Edgemont, Wilson Creek and Pisgah areas. Great place to visit, get supplies and just enjoy.
