The Backyard at Meehan's

It has been a while since we were impressed with literally everything that came out of the kitchen! Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had. Wings are amazing, try the screaming whiskey sauce!! The Rueben rolls are fantastic. We had multiple styles of baked oysters, all soooo delicious. And some of the absolute best key lime pie!

Early afternoon, cool day, sat at the bar. Had the Smoked Fish, I try Smoked Fish anywhere I go, this was….different. Throughout my stay in St Augustine it may be the local preparation but this was with Gouda cheese & pimento, I could not taste any fish ;(. Good service, great patio space, heated tables in the winter.

Start off by saying , I have been here before. First time to catch up with a high school friend and was more interested in the conversation.
Second time, wanted oysters , shucker was off. Went back last night only had 4 of the 6 flavored oysters ( menu posted ) (no Johnny’s ).
What I did get were fantastic . Great taste, fresh ingredients. ( talking toppings, oysters have to be alive to eat them raw) Staff very friendly and helpful( Outback) they had cocktails on the inside menu, do not serve them outside, he said he’d be more then happy to mix up fruit juices ( not the same) went inside, hostess had no idea what I was talking about .
So it’s a hit or miss with the oysters due to shuckers limited schedule. But the atmosphere itself is worth it.

Fast service and lovely private but open atmosphere, located right in the intersection of all the restaurants. We ordered the clams in white wine sauce with linguini. Normal portion size but very light meal. Flavorful

We thought we weren't going to be able to get in because the place looked so crowded for lunch, but that was the front of the building. Do yourself a favor and go around to the back. Much more open in terms of seating. Less of a hustle and bustle feel. The wait staff was very nice, super friendly and very attentive. We all loved our food! The fried oysters I had were probably the largest I'd ever seen. The Mac and cheese with bacon was absolutely delicious. The piece of fish with the fish and chips was huge The only complaint was the Ruben egg rolls. So you might want to avoid them. We would absolutely return next time we're in town.

The outdoor seating area at Meehens is also a casual bar area with standing tables as well as seating for those choosing to dine. They have a giant fishbowl drink that's always a fun time for a group.

Our server, Kristy, was great, super nice! The buffalo oysters were absolutely amazing! Best buffalo sauce I have ever had! I will buy the first case if ever bottled! Love the atmosphere, always a favorite!

We just needed a quick snack and most places are closed on Tuesday in St. Augustine. We stumbled upon the backyard and since it is seat yourself it was easy to get a seat here to our surprise. We got the last table. The waiter came over quick. We ordered a bowl of the Irish clam chowder to share $7. It's 2 bowls of soup. But costs $3 less. 2 waters and in 5minutes of waiting we were eating this delicious soup!! Thank you!! $10 with a tip. Perfect.

Such a perfect spot for amazing food, good vibes, and great tunes.

Very nice place. There is all out door sweating but they have fans and covering for the weather. The food was priced well and all tasted good. The conc fritters were a little over done but if they were done right they would have been awesome. The pulled pork was very good. It’s toppings really added a nice flare to the sandwich.

Absolutely going to come again next time

Drinks are good, food is great but for the Irish bar no Irish music. That is the only downside. Besides that all is great it's a great place. This is the second time I am here and whenever I am in St Augustine I will always visit.

We had one night in St. Augustine & we ate dinner here. The atmosphere is cool. You can see all the people traffic passing by. Bar is nice. French Dip sandwich was fabulous! Cute spot! We didn't get enough time in town so we will be back and will definitely come back here!

Great atmosphere for outdoor seating at the Backyard; I was able to bring my pet. You have to ask for the full menu or you get the limited Backyard menu which has its own yummy options. I got Jack Daniel's bread pudding which had no Jack Daniel's flavoring but was still good, the bangers and mash was DELISH! Nice rich gravy. The chicken curry was very, very bland but tasted fresh. I would go again for the Bangers and Mash and live music ❤

Great food in a good environment. We had friendly table service from one of the younger bartenders. We'd definitely come back here. Get the painkiller!

Absolutely our favorite bar / restaurant in St. Augustine. The atmosphere, food, and service is consistently fantastic ! The prices are very reasonable and the portions plenty. I would highly recommend The Backyard at Meehan’s, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite spots in downtown St Augustine, the food is constantly great and the live music is a huge plus. Key lime pie yesterday was just about the best I've ever had... So good that I had to take a pic even after I'd dug into it.

This place is a favorite of mine that i discovered a year ago and came back for another round.
The food is excellent, the live music makes for a very peaceful afternoon.
Did I talk about the staff ! Omg 😱 they do fantastic service and I also saw them handle a very disrespectful person in a very professional manner. They went above and beyond to handle the situation and kept the peace very well.
Drinks are served in very timely manner and they are made right.

A hidden gem in St. Augustine! Awesome patio with a few fireplace tables. We enjoyed a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day and absolutely loved it. Highly recommended!
