Capes Hotel

Clerk at check in is a sweetheart so kind and helpful. We stayed the night elsewhere (near) and our room was ready for us pretty early. The room is roomy and nice. I love that it smells clean and is clean. The only complaint is the pillows aren't great and the drink machine on floor 7 wouldn't take all of my quarters but I did go to the 2nd floor and had no issues with that one. These are such small things but I'd definitely stay again. We stayed in the king suite with a spa tub.

My mom and I stayed at the Capes Hotel for Mother’s Day. While it is an older property, the reviews were good so I gave it a chance. I was greeted by Michele, who is an GEM, upon arrival and our room was ready. We were extremely pleased by the cleanliness of the entire room. The bathroom was small, but there was nothing out of place or dirty. I would recommend a grab bar of some sort for the tub for safety reasons. As a heads up, there are not a lot of outlets for device charging near the beds, but we worked with what was available. We had plenty of towels, cups, a microwave and a really cold fridge, which is a refreshing change from a lot of hotels. The beds were comfortable and the large tv was nice, but after cleanliness, the most important thing is the VIEW!!! Waking up to the gorgeous sunrise and view of the Atlantic Ocean was EVERYTHING!!! The balcony was spacious and our view from room 802 was perfection. We were literally on the boardwalk!!! While it is not a part of the hotel, the restaurant downstairs was Awesome!! We ate breakfast there both mornings with a beautiful view of the ocean and the food and service were outstanding. I also recommend the Bloody Mary’s with the jalapeño stuffed olives!! My mom and I agree that we would definitely stay at the Capes Hotel again!! Michele and the rest of the front desk staff were accommodating and kind. Sure, there are newer properties with more amenities, but if you’re looking for a reasonably priced oceanfront hotel that gets the cleanliness, comfort and customer service right, the Capes Hotel is for you!!!

We had a reservation at another hotel. Through a mishap it got cancelled before we got here so we had no where to stay. We looked up hotels on Google this one popped up. Made a reservation and within 15 minutes we were in our room. The girls at the front desk are always cheerful and saying hello and goodbye. Rooms are very clean and stocked. Will staying here anytime we come back to Virginia Beach.

The front desk attendants were very friendly and professional at all times. I loved the view and hot tub in the room. The hotel was located where I didn't have
to drive anywhere. I could walk for food, drink and grocery. Thank you

The ladies at the front desk were excellent. The people in the small bar beside it where great as well.. All the house keepers seem to be nice but never saw much of them as far as the room maintenance went. Rooms weren't bad, Beds seemed to slide around and the bathroom was small. Should have had a rail for older or disabled people to hold onto while getting out. Check tub before stepping in was pretty slippery. All in all I say it's a great place to stay because you're close to the beach and right across the street from the shops . Definitely will be back again.

I just spent 5 nights there on a solo vacation. Loved everything about this place. The front desk staff were fun to chat with. The housekeeping and front desk staff are very sweet and provided me with everything I needed. A very warm and cozy hotel with easy access to the beach and shopping. I had the best sleep from the sound of the waves!

August 2023 - My family of 5 had an amazing vacation. We were able to check in early and use the amenities. Staff and housekeepers were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and very clean, and the view from the balcony was unbeatable. The hotel steps away from the beach and shops/restaurants. Pricing was fair, would recommend you stay here.

I love to travel locally and abroad. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in so far. very clean, can't complain. The location is a perfect place to unwind and recharge after a stressful day. All the staff except Darla were friendly, welcoming and helpful, I felt valued.
I had the balcony door overlooking the ocean opened the whole day and night & enjoyed the fresh sea air, the sound of the ocean was music to my ears. The sunrise is amazingly awesome!. They have very good food at the restaurant; the owner is very friendly.

Had highly recommended this hotel and the restaurant to my family and friends, wished it was cheaper for just one person, then I'll be a regular client :)

But where do customers of the restaurant park if they just want to go eat without being a guest at the hotel?

We had a great stay! The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. Room was very clean. Listening to the waves through the night was very calming and relaxing. Yes! We slept with the balcony slider open in the middle of January! No heat needed. Would definitely stay again in the future. Kudos ladies!

The Capes hotel was great! The beachside location along the boardwalk was excellent and we were lucky enough to get one of the rooms with the giant deck overlooking the beach and boardwalk. The staff there was nice and helpful with questions and requests. The hallways and room had a little bit of a musty basement smell that nobody else but me seemed to notice but it was a good sized room and pretty quiet so pretty good overall.

We stayed there from Dec. 8 through the 12th. Upon entry the staff were very welcoming. We went upstairs to our room and the room was very clean. One of the first things my wife looks for Is the water pressure, and it was awesome. I went over to the bed, and the bed was really comfortable.

After the first night, we fell in love with
The sheets. They are very soft. E used the hot tub so that we could relax, and that was amazing. The sea salt grill is awesome. My wife and I ate breakfast there and lunch a different day. Neither time were disappointing. All in all, it was a great place to stay and would highly recommend it.

My wife and I wanted to find a room to rent with some charm that wasn't just another chain hotel and we absolutely found it with the Capes Hotel. Located right off of the boardwalk we were able to see the beach from our balcony as well as listen to a number of live bands who set up on the boardwalk over our stay.

The hotel is a bit old-fashioned and doesn't have some modern conveniences that travelers might expect, such as USB ports in the room or room service. But the rooms are well furnished with a kitchenette that includes a mini fridge (large enough for bottles of soda and leftovers), a microwave, and a sink. There was also a bottle opener in the bathroom, built right into the wall. At first my wife and I wondered why, but it ended up being very convenient. The wi-fi never gave us any problems at all, even when streaming from an Amazon fire stick.

We went for the Queen Whirlpool Deluxe room, and the whirlpool tub was amazing. My wife and I tend to go for rooms that have whirlpool tubs in them, and this is easily the largest one we've ever had. Instead of the 'triangle' shape that most of them tend to be this one is like an oversized bathtub that is nearly as long as the bed and about half as wide. Since it is next to the bed you can easily watch TV from it, and there is a step and handle to make getting in or out very easy. If you are looking for something to make a romantic getaway special this will absolutely fit the bill.

The staff is out of this world. From the person who we spoke to on the phone who answered all of our questions, to the person who checked us in and gave us a ton of local recommendations, to the person who helped us find food options at 3 in the morning, everyone we talked to was warm and friendly and made us genuinely feel welcome. The room was very quiet as well, which was helped quite a bit by the in house restaurant having mostly outdoor seating and being closed during extreme weather. There is a wide assortment of restaurants and bars within a short walk, and every one the staff recommended was wonderful.

The only negative that we experienced is parking. The hotel has a small lot right in front and a second lot that was only open once during our stay, and there isn't much room to maneuver. It wasn't a problem for us, but you may have some difficulty if you came with a rented van or something similar.

We will definitely be coming back.

Location was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was amazing. The room was sketchy. Way outdated. The shower was moldy the shower head was horrible. I would go back but get a better room

This is a wonderful hotel! Our 1st time staying there after many years of coming to Virginia Beach-and that would be 30 years. The ladies that run this hotel-Stacy, Lori, Vicky-all excellent! Lori was awesome when I called to book-so helpful & patient! And the ladies holding doors on our arrival-one on each side! Never treated us like we were a bother & ALWAYS so nice! These ladies rock!
The room was very nice-smelled GREAT the entire time. No outside smells at all-that was a big plus for my family! Housekeeping was awesome! The beds & pillows were great-very comfortable! No pain from them! The temperature of the room was perfect & changed quickly to whatever you preferred, which was wonderful. Thank you for a great, relaxing, pleasant stay! See you ladies next year! ❤

We have been coming to the Capes for 7 years. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Especially Stacy & Lori. The attached restaurant's food is delicious! Jeff is great chef. Highly recommend.

We loved it here! Room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. 3 pillows on each bed. Air conditioner worked great. Wonderful view. Indoor pool was good. Closes at nine. We wished it was open later. The bathroom was small which made it hard to dress. Staff was very friendly and helpful.. Housekeeping gave us everything we needed. Very nice young gentleman.The doors were locked at nine. That made us feel safe.The only thing I can say negative I guess would be that the pool closed early.

My wife and I liked the room. We got a king suite with hot tub.
This was a nice big room and another room to lounge in. We enjoyed our stay .I liked the heated pool. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was a restaurant in there next to the pool. It had good food for reasonable prices.
If we ever came back to Virginia Beach ,we would stay here again.

This place was absolutely amazing. Very charming and loved the location. The staff was excellent. They all went above and beyond to make our stay the very best. This is the first hotel I have every stayed at where the staff treated you like family. I found my new hotel at VA. Beach. The rooms were spacious and very clean.

My husband and I had got to the area a little earlier than expected and knew we couldn't check in quite yet but we wanted to park and go around to some of the shops. I went to the front desk and explained what we'd like and the lady at the front desk was so nice and was able to give us our parking pass. She also checked on our room status so we knew exactly how long until we could check in.
The staff is so incredibly kind, no matter how many times my husband and I walked in or out, we were greeted with great smiles and kind words.

The hotel it self is gorgeous! The room was very well kept and clean, has great amenities, and a ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS view of the ocean from our balcony!

Will have to come here and stay again.
