Super 8 by Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

All these bad reviews for this hotel are ridiculous. I’ve never written a review for a hotel before, but I felt I had to. I spent so many days stressing over which cheaper hotel to pick because they all had the worst reviews unless you wanted to spend $375+ a night. That being said if scuffed walls and bad paint jobs offend you then this is not the place for you. I saw complaints on other reviews about the hallways being dingy and dark. Yes, they are. Good thing you don’t sleep out there. Yes, the elevator is slow. Take the stairs lazy bones or have some patience. Anyways, our room 203 was clean, nothing broken, smelled fine, no bugs, had a nice shower head with handheld option (nice hot water), pillows were firm (unlike most hotels). Front desk staff is brief and to the point, not rude. Parking across the street (minor inconvenience). Pool was clean as well. If I had to complain about anything it would be the five minute paint jobs on the walls throughout the hotel (again only effects your visual aesthetics). Definitely would stay again to get ocean views for that price. Pictures attached for proof.

Super helpful and friendly staff upon check-in and throughout the stay. Our room smelled good and was very clean. The bed was super comfy. Perfect place to stay for a few nights' beachfront. Our balcony was the perfect place to sit and watch the sunrise. We will definitely be back. Make sure to grab breakfast across the street at Harvest!

Based on the other reviews, whoever is responding is placating those who give reviews. Months have gone by and then I visit and still see the same problems. They aren't going to fix it.

We managed to get an early check-in (about an hour) so that we could get situated for a 2 day stay. Check-in was kind of smooth. Like other comments parking is at a different location. The parking lot is a half a block away and is located between the backs of two restaurants. The parking lot is small so if you have a large truck, unless you know how to whip that jawn, parking there might not be an option. No matter where your room is, you will not be able to see your vehicle.

If you get a room facing the beach you get a balcony. If you book a room facing the pool it's similar to living in a fish tank. Basically the hallway with the rooms has a window to your right that overlooks the pool, to your right are the rooms with a big window. If you walk by a room with the curtains pulled back, everyone can watch you changing clothes, getting dressed, or worse Virginia is for lovers.

The rooms feel very musty. The walls, floors, and ceiling are concrete. The floors are finished with tile flooring and don't feel very inviting; we found ourselves wearing footwear throughout the room. The room was packed with a small fridge and microwave. Our microwave didn't work and we were able to have it replaced with no issues. The A/C is located towards the back of the room and next to the bathroom with the shower and toilet. The shower is a stand-up shower with a cloth shower curtain. The water pressure was suitable. The drain system however left a puddle at one side of the shower and we were forced the push the water to the other side of the shower when we finished. The floor in the room and throughout the hotel is either wet, covered in sand, both, or stained. Understandably, it's a beachfront hotel so these types of things get tracked throughout. There was one wire hangar in the closet; similar to the one you might get at a dry cleaning place. There are no other places to hang at towels or clothes other than the shower rod, backs of chairs, or go to the dollar store and buy hangars to hang things; I just used the lamp. Nothing dries; not even people.

The pool had sand at the bottom and some litter around the lawn chairs and deck area. There is a room along the outside of the pool that looks have questionable stains on the floor (midway from the lobby to the elevator on the floor in front of a room); scraping it and using Goo-Gone from Lowes should get it right up.

There is one elevator in the building and it has 7 floors to serve. It's a small elevator that can fit about six adults and three kids with no luggage. The 4th Floor hallway has a broken AC unit sitting in the hallway. The ice machines do not work.

We checked out early. Our experience wasn't very inviting. My biggest criticism might be the trash pile next to the exit and pool. When we arrived there was a mountain of trash piled up outside of the door. While we did arrive the day after July 4th, I think a proper dumpster would create a better image of the place. Space is limited but trash collection should be better maintained; it was probably the biggest disappointment of my stay. To be fair, the whole pile was removed the next morning, but it sat visible July 5th.

The owners were very nice. The oceanfront view is the only way to go. The only drawback is that you might need pest control to return. I smashed a roach in the hallway twice. I didn't actually see them in the room however. I hate to even say this because of how nice you were to me, but I'm just trying to give honest feedback. Whenever we want to return to Virginia Beach, we will return!

Staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was clean. The view was excellent of the Atlantic Ocean . We saw multiple dolphins out jumping just from our room on the patio.The Navy recruits marched doing their early morning drill. We had a great time. We walked to all the shops and restaurants. Very convenient place to stay. We metal detected too.

The hotel is right on the beach, which was the first requisite I had in making my choice; then was price. Let me tell you, the value of this hotel is outstanding. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. The room overlooking the ocean has a nice balcony to sit on and enjoy the air. Everything in the room is very clean, all of the sheets looked newer and clean with no stains, the cable works and the television is big. The bathroom is clean and has one of the largest showers I've had the pleasure of using. The room is extremely spacious, it has two queen beds and easily enough room for a blow up twin mattress. Before booking, I saw a lot of negative reviews, but I disagree with them. Everyone expects a $1000 a night resort experience for around $200; if you come in with reasonable expectations: cleanliness and spaciousness, beach access, location (right by the pier and amusement park), and price, you will not be disappointed. I will absolutely be staying again the next time I'm in town.

We had a great trip. The staff was helpful, our room was clean throughout the week, we had no problems with the elevator. The person in charge of breakfast wasn't very friendly but that is the only issue we had. The hotel is right on the beach and it is right on the boardwalk near many restaurants and activities. We will definitely be back next year.

The hotel is dated, but our room was clean. Bed was very comfortable, sheets and towels were fresh. The staff were the nicest people ever! Great location too!

Don’t let the reviews fool you. I had an amazing time at this hotel. Had no problems whatsoever. The staff was incredible, everyone was so friendly. Never came across a rude staff member while staying two weeks. Everything worked great (ac, elevator, etc.). It was a great deal for two weeks and only paid $650. The location is amazing. I will definitely stay here again!

Rm404, 24-25apr2019 There is a lot to like about this hotel, even after scoring the super low room rate. All off the employees here are super friendly, helpful and hard working. The rooms are spacious, the views are great, and the beds are comfortable. When you arrive there is a small parking area north side of the hotel but on the south is a garage that is not where you need to be. Don't go up the ramp. Rooms have microwave, fridge, etc and a small desk and chair, and another upholostered chair. Balconies have 2 plastic chairs. Pool isn't open yet but looks refreshing. Looks like an elevator modernization project is underway so I usually used the stairs which was kinda cool meeting my neighbors and the hotel crew as we passed. I will return here for sure, even if there's a less expensive option, which I kinda doubt. Thanks for a great stay

There is nothing wrong with this place from what I see! My check-in was good and they were polite and respectful. The room is clean and looks nice. I saw some people comments online and it made me think “should I book here” but I am glad I used my own judgement and now here we sit ocean front about to enjoy ourselves🏝👙🏖🩳🩱🥰

This motel was recently remodeled, and it looks wonderful. It's a great deal for being at the oceanfront. The floors in the room don't have carpeting, which is nice. The showers in the oceanfront rooms are amazing! The water pressure is fantastic and the removable showerhead has a large diameter. They don't have rooms with just one bed, all of the rooms have two beds. The beds are so comfortable! The television is large and the wifi is fast! All of the rooms are non-smoking. I noticed that when guest were staying in the oceanfront rooms, it smelt like they were still smoking in the rooms, instead of smoking on the balconies. I wasn't able to smell smoke in the room, it was really only out in the hallway. The heat/AC unit worked wonderfully! The oceanfront room had a balcony, a large window with thick curtains (it did a good job blocking out the sun), and a tinted glass door so you could watch the sunrise without leaving your bed.
We stayed during the off season for a total of two months. They offer affordable weekly rates.However, what made this stay so enjoyable was the staff!
Melissa works at the front desk and she is wonderful! She is so polite and sweet! If you have any problems, she will take care of it. Her customer service is impeccable!
Millie (I believe is her name) and Priyanka also work at the front desk and the customer service that they provide is what I would expect from a five star hotel!
The maintenance man John is wonderful. Our coat rack needed to be fixed, and he did the job correctly. If there was ever anything we needed fixed, he did it correctly and in a timely manner.
All of the other motel staff was fantastic! If there was ever a disturbance in the middle of the night at the motel (which there is always going to be noise down at the oceanfront), the staff would quickly fix the disturbance.
I recommend this Super 8 to anybody who doesn't want to pay too much to stay at the oceanfront. Long-term or short-term, for the quality it's worth the price.
If something is wrong with your room, just tell the staff, They'll move you into another room if it's available, or they'll fix the problem!
I'll definitely be returning to this Super 8!

Room was very claen. Staff knocked on the door to see if you was need of towels or toiletries. No do not disturb hanger was not in our room but next door. Walk to the beach, restaurants etc. and great location.

First Iam shocked by all the negative remarks!! This place is awesome starting with all the workers I've met today.. They let us check in way earlier than they had to but the worker asked me if I was ok and I let her know I just had a major surgery and needed to rest.. She was on it instantly... Ocean balcony view very clean room and the tv and everything worked.. And we had towels and wash rags.. The cleaning lady said if you need more just call down to the desk... Great workers... I will be back.. Maybe some people are just to picky and if you walk around with a chip on your shoulder thinking everything has to be perfect I feel sorry for you... ⛵⛵⛵

I would have had it no other way than to have stayed in the Super 8 at the oceanfront. Front Desk Manager Rachel and Melissa was extremely helpful with getting me and my family checked in. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. The pool was also too my son's expertise! We loved our stay!

Love love love Virginia Beach oceanfront and entertainers. If you come out to Va Beach be sure to see Krendall the magician. Absolutely awesome. Clean beach great family environment. Well organized and great shops available. So much to do and see. A must if you love the beach!!!

For the price it was a good room comfy beds hot shower which was a big walk in shower nice TV heat worked well you get what you pay for I've stayed at worse front desk worker was very polite and helpful since my cousin out of state booked the room for me and she let us check in at noon check in is supposed to be 4pm

The staff is fantastic! Handicap room is perfect with rails and walk in shower. Nice breakfast and clean facility. Overall great experience on the ocean!

i really enjoyed my stay there this week me and my husband were their for 3days and the rooms were clean and i loved ocean front veiw wakeing up to see the sunrise in the moring 😋and the staff were very nice AND THE HOUSE KEEPING LADY WERE VERY NICE AND KEEPING UP THE ROOMS YOU GO GIRL👍👍👍I WOULD COME RECOMEND THIS TO EVERY ONE I WAS IN ROOM 305

Stayed here on vacation it was good for the price. And no bed bugs i checked both rooms we were using when we got there. Ita a fun vacation spot. Highly recommend
