Step back in time to an old west saloon after you just rode into town. Usually a real Nevada cowboy or two jawing at the bar. I'd describe the menu as cowboy basque gourmet. On this, our third time stopping for dinner I chose Scallops. They were large, plentiful, and cooked perfectly. Definitely on the same level as the Chart House in Lake Tahoe. A definite must stop for drinks and lunch or dinner in this true Nevada out of the way ranch town.

Man I tell you what, the food, the service beyond amazing. What a treat no doubt. Left there feeling like I had a Christmas dinner. Beyond appreciate the lady serving the bar and tables absolutely non stop making things run like clock work. Never an empty drink, food so much food, if you get their dinner meal be prepared to share cause there ain’t no way you’re going to finish that alone.

This place is hands down one of my favorite places to eat!!! The service is always excellent and the food is top of the line. Tonight I enjoyed the Beef Wellington and let me tell you, it was cooked to perfection. The meatball soup they serve is like nothing I've never had. No matter what it is always worth the drive!!!

This is a beautiful historic building. They serve up some pretty good food. The staff is very friendly. There's a bar in separate room if you don't want to sit at a table. The Inn is located in a pretty location. If your in the area it's worthwhile to stop here.

Nice rural place to eat dinner with a nice ambiance. No waiting to be seated when we arrived. Bread and butter served after being seated.

The wait staff was very friendly and answered all our questions.

Food portions are quite large even for the sides and the food is tasty. I had a special of the day steak when I visited and it was the most tender cut of meat I've had in a while. Will stop by again.

Three of us rode from Reno to Wellington for lunch at the Heyday Inn. We had cheese burgers with fries. Great tasting meals and very attentive and attentive staff.

Outstanding food and service. Had the Western Burger and it was one of the best I've ever had. Two thumbs up, this place is great!

This is one of the only restaurants in our valley and we are glad it is exceptional. We have been to the Heyday many times over the past couple of years, have taken many of our guests and contractors and have yet to have a bad experience. Food is fantastic (Sunday night's Fried Chicken is delicious and sought after so must be reserved in advance), service is great and the cocktails are awesome. We have yet to try the picon cocktail though but will soon. Highly recommend this historic restaurant.

I'd call this American during the day and basque in the evening based off the menu. This is my first time going here and I will absolutely be coming back. I came for brunch and had a very good Bloody Mary, the the blackened french dip, and garlic fries. This french dip is definitely one of the best I've had. I love a good french dip, but sadly it's often bland with what seems like cheap deli counter roast beef and packaged reconstituted au jus. This was obviously made from scratch with care, and was extremely tender and flavorful. Other dishes in my party included a huge jucy burger, and chicken strips that looked like they had the perfect light crispy beer batter crust even I would try (I am not someone who orders chicken strips). The food was simple but I have to say it again; it was so, so flavorful! There was only one person working the front due to unforseen circumstances so we had a very leisurely meal and it was absolutely fine with me to have a tasty memorable meal that was absolutely worth the cost of going out plus the 35 minute drive it took me to get there from home.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch today as we traveled through Smith Valley. What a delight! The service was friendly and quick. I had the shrimp and cod with fries. The shrimp were freshly battered and fried, as was the fish. Both were delicious! If I am ever back, again, I will get the shrimp basket so I can have more of shrimp - they were excellent! I am not a connoisseur of crispy, thin fries, so I would opt for the home made onion rings if I make it back this way. My husband had the Ortega turkey sandwich with onion rings. He said it was really fresh and good. He loved the onion rings.
This is a definite 5-star recommendation!

The centerpiece of dining in Smith Valley. Basque style atmosphere, great dishes & service, nice bar, & great owner. Both lunch and dinner are amazing!

I don't give many five star reviews. I think it sets up unreasonable expectations. The service the menu top notch. My wife has the Wellington I had the rack of lamb both large enough to split. The dessert was fresh and house made. Reservations recommended.

First time tonight. Loved the old fashion feel, historical pictures of the area. The amount of food for the price is unreal! Everything was excellent. The clam chowder was very good, resembled Cape Cod. The New York steak was absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection. The cheesecake...OMG! Best I have ever tasted! We will definitely be back!

Wow! Highly recommended if you are looking to get a great steak. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection so it was delicious. The staff is very friendly and courteous. It does get a little busy so, recommend making a reservation ahead of time.
