I was an Intern at this school for 3 months the staff was very nice. The kids were always sweet. I enjoyed being able to teach the kids while getting a learning experience myself. I, too, also went in 6th grade. I still remember how much fun and how nice the dorm adviser was. We stayed up telling stories of the Indians the use to roam that area. I'd recommend this outdoor school for any Elementary School wanting the children to learn about the outdoors.

Oh wow! Couldn't sleep so I decided to have a little Google maps sesh looking up memorable places from my childhood and found this little gem.
I absolutely LOVED this place. I went here for a week as a 6th grader back in early 1990 and it's one of my most cherished memories from that time.
We went for night walks and learned about the constellations and how to navigate by the stars, we called wild turkeys, raced paper boats in the creek, learned how to make a survival shelter. We also (hopefully) learned how to not waste so much food and to manage our spending money. I still have one of my arrowhead necklaces that I bought with my "checkbook" from the little shop.
I think the only thing I didn't enjoy is that it was the middle of winter and my boots weren't the best, so I often had cold wet socks.
Of course I'm from the last generation of kids who went outside all day to play and only came home when it started to get dark. Not sure how today's kids would fare. Especially if they're not allowed cell phones, which I honestly hope is the case.
We all could benefit from unplugging every once in a while and going for a nice long walk in the woods.

My son just came back from it. Sounded like it was not too fun. Was not able to take pictures, unless he bought their camera. Didn't eat much because he didn't like it. Had to use his money to buy food. He got an expired orange juice. Tried to exchange it, couldn't. Only good part was the leader of cabin was cool and he won the archery contest.
