This place was amazing. Definitely a fun place to hike with beautiful waterfalls. We liked parking by the dam. Google maps had us taking a route and the road wasn't there anymore. It looked like a farmer's property but 6 minutes away was the dam.

You need to get to the LYONS FALLS TRAIL, leave the car there and walk 30 minutes to the waterfall. I liked it very much, I love hiking 🥾

This area is an immersive experience with a towering rock wall and vibrant colors during the month of October.
You can get to Big Lyons falls by following the Lyons Falls trailhead (starting at the Mohican Bridge or Pleasant Hill Dam).
If you start your journey at Mohican Bridge, you walk along a gorge that was in the path of a recent tornado. Several huge trees were toppled and you can see the cavity where the roots were buried. The park crew did an excellent job clearing the trails. And, just before reaching the falls, there is a picturesque spot along the Mohican River that has some wondrous colors.
If you start the trail at the Pleasant Hill Dam, you’ll wind through a pine forest that leads up to the Little Lyons Falls first. Not as many fall colors in this part of the trail.
This area is dog friendly.

Very nice hike! A little strenuous due to the hills, but not bad at all.
The falls are falls based on the rainfall. But no matter what it is still a great hiking trail. The falls are closer to Pleasant Hill Dam. But you can also park at the covered bridge.
There are two falls along the path.
Definitely worth the time to see.
The entire trail is within the forest. So even on a hot day you will not be hiking in the direct sun. But still bring water! There is no water located at the dam. There are latrines... but no running water.

This was a little over a mile hike in a slightly challenging path as it was all covered in snow and ice. Super beautiful scenery. The path is well marked and you must cross a small creek to continue on path to falls. I did see a long staircase in the other side, but did not investigate as to where it led. We entered path by the covered bridge and map.

Not a big flowing waterfall, but it's always a nice hike to it.

Wonderful area of Mohican State Park / Forest. Convenient parking at trailhead near Pleasant Hill Dam. Trail is well marked and easy-moderate. Some elevation gain. What a great way to spend an afternoon.

We just did the quick out and back to Big Lyons Falls. It is an easy hike. After Labor Day but before the leaves really start changing is a good time to go of you would like to do it when it is less crowded.

This is definitely one of my new favorite trails! It's well marked, well traveled, and has boardwalks and bridges where the going gets tough. It's a very good novice hiking trail with fun rocks and roots and beautiful geological features!

Beautiful views of an impressive rock formation, the falls were a trickle when we went but it didn't make it any less amazing

The pictures can't do this any justice. It is absolutely gorgeous. The waterfalls are cold even when it's hot. The rocks and cliffs are insanely awesome. The trail is challenging but not too hard. We hiked it with our 5 year old and 3 dogs. Definitely will head back here sometime.

Great hike. Expect mud or ice or lots of people depending on the time of year, and mid summer to fall the water flow is usually very minimal. But spring is wonderful. And the ice can be stunning in the winter. Be careful!

This is an amazing trail to walk especially early in the morning. I cannot wait to go back in the fall and do this hike again. It is so peaceful and beautiful.

Nice hike and beautiful falls. Was a little dry so it wasn't flowing as much as expected but still gorgeous.

We had a fantastic time at Big Lyons Falls! The trail is only about a half mile long and you pass Small Lyons Falls on the way! The trail head is located at the Mohican Dam, and the trail was quiet and easily traverseable. The Big Lyons Falls are similar to Ash Cave at Hocking Hills. It's a beautiful sight, I would highly recommend seeing the falls!

The Lyons Falls trail is heavily trafficked all year round, but still one of my favorite trails at Mohican. Go early, around twilight or sunrise, if you prefer to encounter fewer people on the trail. This trail tends to get crowder by mid-morning or afternoon.
You can park at the dam or covered bridge to hike this trail. Big Lyons Falls is closer to the covered bridge. If you start at the bridge, there is a shortcut trail to loop you back to the bridge. Or you can continue on to see Little Lyons Falls and the dam.

Very beautiful hike to Big Lyon Falls. You get to enjoy every bit of scenery the park has to offer.

We visited the Big Lyons Falls in the late fall and it was a gorgeous hike. Only about a mile out to the falls, and not incredibly challenging. Even with no recent rain or snow melting (and therefore no dramatic waterfall) it was an awe inspiring site well worth the hike.
