The Frugal Frigate

I visited today looking for a new book or two for my 16m old and I found so many great ones that I could hardly decided. There was a great shelf with picks from the staff, which I found super helpful! I ended up getting a beautiful book from that shelf that my daughter loved.

The shop was so cute and eclectic! They had reading chairs for folks to sit and stay a while and even a cute loft area. They had such whimsical, kid-friendly decor, I can’t wait to take my little one there to let her explore the place!

They were running a great special with a grant from the city where you could pay $25 to purchase a $50 voucher towards books at the shop! I’m not sure how long this will last so grab it while you can! 6/29/22

First time coming in today and met with the owner of the store. She went above and beyond helping pick out the perfect gift for my daughter and helped me hide it from her while at checkout. She even gave me extra complimentary gift wrapping paper to take home to wrap after I wrote in the book and since my daughter was with me at the time. We will definitely be back for the awesome one of a kind experience.

I would definitely stop here if you’re passing through Redlands and have children who love a good story. What a great traditional nostalgic bookstore that houses so many unique and beautifully illustrations children’s books. It’s worth taking your children here as I have for the last 29 years. Now my daughter is picking up the tradition with her first child on the way!

My 5yo granddaughter and I visited for the Halloween Storytime. We enjoyed the stories and the spooky harp music very much! The Frugal Frigate is a magical place!

Great selection for kids. A cozy and safe place to spend time reading to your child, and then you can buy the book you read and take it home.

Love this little hidden children’s bookstore in downtown Redlands! It is so nice, and has such a great inventory for toddlers too! Staff was friendly as well!

I love this spot! This is what small biz is all about. Fantastic books, great programming for children, beautiful, inclusive (LGBTQ friendly) space - I highly recommend. Doesn’t get better than this and Redlands is lucky to have this gem!

THEY CAN CUSTOM ORDER ANY BOOK
I will take my school and reading list to them and they will order it for me. Everything from popular books from Instagram to whatever you find on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It's a great way to support a small business!
They have a huge selection of kids books and my niece is obsessed with coming here. 5 stars isn't enough for how amazing the owner and staff are. Friendly and helpful, plus great people to have book talk with!

Love this little spot, been here several times and it's always a treat to go inside and discover something new! Love the variety of books they have for our daughter, and the room in the back has books for us grown ups too! Plenty to look at in there and will always return for a good book to get and read! Very pleasant lady at the register to help you find what you need!

This place is a shining gem of Redlands. They offer a large variety of thoughtfully organized books for children of all ages. There is also a new side room offering a selection for adults as well. As a bonus, the bookstore occupies a gorgeous historic building with unique and beautiful architecture.

Their selection is robust, diverse, and thoughtfully selected. They offer a teacher discount, and they will special order almost anything they might not have in a timely manner. They also hold community events like pajama storytime and author readings. A must visit for parents or educators!

Absolutely wonderful! Morgan was incredibly helpful, and the whole store had that wonderful atmosphere of discovery that makes a good bookstore just better. I walked into the place with no intention of talking to anyone, and left having told half my life story and having shared a poem I wrote a month ago. Anyone who remembers the vibe Imagine That! used to have in Riverside with fondness should absolutely visit the Frugal Frigate.

This book store is incredibly welcoming. It's decorated so cute and filled with amazing children's books. My kids could spend hours in here! They also love the Where's Waldo search that The Frugal Frigate puts on every year.

This is an absolutely wonderful Children's bookstore. The people who work here are well educated in all kinds of Children's books and willing to work with you to find what you are in looking for. This store also puts on great story times on the weekends! They do a Where's Waldo event in July that involves the whole community!

I really love this adorable bookstore. I did have an experience with getting charged incorrectly, however the owner Erin reached out to me personally and took absolute pride in my experience in her store. I can't wait to take my 3 little ones there for our next adventure.

This small business is a delightful place to bring young children to foster a wonder and love of reading. The merchandise is spot on to interest readers from preschool through middle school. Enchantingly decorated and staffed with knowledgeable, friendly people ready to help your child find just the right fit. I cannot recommend The Frugal Frigate enough.
