Balsam Motel

Just stayed here with my wife and i must say the place was awesome felt right at home ! The staff was super friendly , private beach (lakefront) is beautiful , fire-pits next too every cabin ,Great place too go with your family, lots of stuff too do there you dont even need to leave the property !! Mike the owner was very accommodating and helpful this weekend with our last min plans ,will be returning soon thanks for having us !!
Bathrooms are a little outdated and toilets are low lol but the room is very nice

Perfect location to stay for visiting Lake George. Just far enough away for it to be quiet & relaxing but still close enough that you can walk to the main drag and not have to worry about parking. The owners are also very friendly. 👍🏼

The owners are so sweet. Very clean and well-kept Adirondack style cabins. Great parking. Right at the beginning of the main strip so you can walk to shops or restaurants. Very close to the water. Our cabin had a view of the lake. I will absolutely book here again if we’re able to come next year. Highly recommend, especially for couples and families!

Perfect for my family we had a great time the cleaning crew was always around asking if we needed anything, the rooms were clean and air conditioned. a small walk to the beach but it was still beautiful beach, ping pong, will def be back, thank you for a lovely stay!

Excellent cottages!!! Pet friendly, and very, very clean! The nicest couple owns this place too! There is lake access right down the road. There are multiple cottages all of differing sizes and definitely well priced! The couple that owns the place was so generous to us and we are definitely going back! 100% recommend !!! What a great place to stay. We bring our dogs every year and it's just perfect. Clean, friendly new owners, and very great to us and our dogs. They even have towels for them and sheets they can lay on. We enjoy coming every year. We have been here a lot and none of the pet friendly places are as nice as this one. I'd give it more stars if I could.

We’ve been coming to Lake George for a few years now and I believe we found the place for us at Balsam Motel. The cottage was fantastic, clean, comfortable and had everything you needed for your stay. The owners are very nice and welcoming.
This will be the place we stay from now on! Give this place a shot and you won’t be disappointed.

The Balsam motel and cottages is an amazing place to stay! It's small, quiet and pet friendly. There is a small motel with 8 units (I believe it's 8) and a bunch of single/double cottages.
It's clean! We brought our own disinfectant wipes with us (due to covid-19) and wiped everything down upon arrival. The wipes looked completely clean after using them, not a bit of dirt or dust.
There's access to the lake as well as a pool (which is maintained well).
The owners are extremely nice and go out of their way throughout the day to check in with you and see if you have any questions/concerns/needs.
When we went the second week in July there happened to be a family reunion in the motel part. Upon arrival they explained that there was a large group with lots of children in that building and offered to switch us to a cottage instead! The large group was also using the pool the entire day (nobody else could use it and safely distance themselves from this group) and I saw it was empty once and commented "It's empty now, let's go before they're back!". Apparently I wasn't the only one who made a comment about it, because the next morning the owners let us know they had made a schedule so more people could utilize the pool. The set 3 hour blocks of time for the reunion party and other guests throughout the day. We didn't ask for this, but the owners wanted to ensure everybody had a good time!
The location is amazing, only a couple minutes walk to to the main part of Canada Street shoppin/dining and Shepard Park!
I highly recommend Balsam and we WILL be returning the next time we are in Lake George.

I just returned home from my second stay at the balsam. I've been visiting lake George my whole life, and this is now my go-to hotel.

The balsam is everything that makes a lake George great. Everything about it is just right- The location, the rustic look and feel of the rooms, and especially the owners who run the place. They make it feel like it's more of a bed and breakfast than it is a hotel. Not to mention the fact that it's pet friendly!

Can't recommend this place enough. If you're reading this review, please check it out for yourself. Support these types of family businesses. They're getting harder and harder to find!

My husband and I have found a new favorite in Lake George. We have been going to the lake for the past 6 years. Usually stayed at the same place until it got sold last year. So we luckily booked at the Balsam this year. We LOVED IT. Gary and Susan are the best hosts. So attentive and friendly. Cabin was clean. Kitchen was stocked with all necessities. Walking distance to village. I have already recommended the Balsam to all my friends. Can't wait for next year.

We just left the motel and we can’t wait to come back. It was extremely clean and quiet and exactly what we needed. The owners were so nice and welcoming!! Nothing bad to say about it except we wish we stayed longer. The beach right by the hotel was awesome and the woodsy feel of the place was so relaxing. 😀

Owners/managers very pleasant and helpful. Nice large clean cabin. Up to 2 dogs allowed, which is why we chose it. Very close to town center of Lake George.

Wow! This place is so clean and located in the perfect spot for restaurants or to walk to downtown. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. We will be making this our annual vacation sport for years to come.
