AK Smiley Bookstore

Very nice library with a great bookstore downstairs. Won an auction for 6 Action Comic books for $15 a week ago and had some trouble claiming it, but it worked out in the end. If you’re into collecting comic books like I am, the bookstore here is definitely the way to go. It’s 25 cents per comic book in a little bin. I just got 16 comic books for $4, and they’re great quality as well, I’ll send some pictures.

I saw another review say every first Saturday of every month they let you fill a bag for $6, or $5 if you’re a member. I’m not sure of this but I’m definitely checking it out next weekend!

The bookstore is completely staffed by volunteers working in two hour shifts. Many of the Volunteers have been serving in the bookstore for years. All the books (and cds, dvds, magazines, vinyl, etc) are donated. The bookstore is closed Mondays to allow a special team of volunteers to restock the bookstore. The prices are truly "the best deal in town!" with children books starting at 50 cents (25 cents if you are a member of the Friends). There is a Bag Sale the first Saturday of the month, where you can fill a bag of books for 5 dollars if you're a member of the Friends and 8 dollars if you're not. We have a large Young Adult section, in addition to children's, trade paperback, mass market paperback, hardcover in Fiction and Non Fiction. The Friends also have a thriving auction and run sales several times a year. The bookstore is located in the basement of the Library. There are both stairs and an elevator. The restroom is located upstairs past the water fountain on your right hand side.

I love the silent auction. You can get old books, new books, nonfiction, fiction, kids' books, DVDs, VHSs, etc all through it for great bargains. Weekly silent auctions end Tuesday at 1pm. It's right inside the main entrance of the library.
Also, on the first Saturday of every month, there's a book sale in the bookstore where you can fill up a whole bag for $6 (nonmembers) or $5 (members). All money goes toward buying new books for the library. All staff are volunteers.

Lovely, quiet place to come read or buy some clean used books. The people ee spoke with were very pleasant.

The librarians are grumpy, and worthless to help you out!
