Parked at the creamery, walked up the private drive to the right, passed the state land sign and up the stone stairs to the observation deck.

This is a little wooden platform built and restored by Eagle Scouts. Very sturdy and pretty high, which all you need I guess. If you park at the lot across from the creamery it's a short walk to here. Beautiful open view and there are benches built in if you want to sit.

I have no experience with this place, but some reviewer saying "no birds" probably does not understand that hawk watching is not like visiting an aviary with guaranteed birds to see right in front of your nose. Hawk presence is highly dependent on migration season and weather patterns. A random day at a typical hawk watch is not going to present a hawk in view at any particular moment, or even within the whole day depending on the weather. However, during migration season, if the weather is fair you might lose count of the hawks you see during a few hours of observing. Also, hawk watching does NOT mean hawks will all fly within 50 feet or less of you for a great look at them. A hawk might be hundreds to thousands of feet away as it soars along. Hawk watchers might not even be able to identify the hawk its so far away. During migration, I would expect a few to come close enough to present an excellent view. Of course, the hawk might cruise past your vantage point at twenty MPH, so don't expect the view to last long for any particular hawk. If the hawk is circling around in a thermal, it might hang around for several minutes, but it will be ascending with the thermal and look quite small as it gains altitude.

Great view over the valley and this time of year it’s empty

As an amateur radio operator, I go up there to test my equipment and to make long distance contacts to all over the world.
