This bookstore is delightfully squishy in all the right ways.

Imagine the used bookstore in that book you love, the one where the main character is always drinking coffee or tea and is best friends with the owner. It's a little cramped and almost hard to walk through, but books of all kinds line the walls from floor to ceiling, with stacks on the floor that couldn't fit on the shelves, and the odd shelving unit running through the middle of the room. There's a display on their favorite topic or genre crowded into the window around a cozy logo. Some books are newer, some are very much older - looking both very much regal and a little bit tired, but still happy for you to pick them up and take them home. The very reasonable prices are neatly marked on the first page of each book in pencil, so there's no vile price-sticker goo to deal with once each book finds their new home. There's music playing quietly, but nothing rowdy; just quiet, comfortable music from a bygone era. The busy street outside fades away the moment the bells on the door stop tinkling. It's just you, the books, and the lovely shop owner.

That's what this place is. I had an absolutely lovely time exploring this store, and I'm incredibly glad I stopped in!

Amazing book store, they have some really old gems as well as newer titles. Great way to spend a rainy day(or any other) excellent prices!

Quiet bookstore with a large selection of genres. Fair to low pricing. I was able to bring a book in and exchange for another with no cost. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to. I have purchased quite a few books over the course of the last 10+ years.

Incredible selection of historical, old, and new used books at unbeatable prices. An absolute gem, will be back every time I'm in town, or anywhere near it.

This is a very good book store with both used and new books. It's an especially great resource for local history but they have a little bit of everything worth reading. The owners are great folks and very supportive of the local community. I highly recommend.

I loved visiting Catnip Books. Nice atmosphere and plenty of lighting. Plus plenty of books to look through under many different topics. I found 5 books which will keep me busy for a while!

The way a bookstore should. Books piled everywhere. For Book-O-Files this is the place. Great staff. Great ambiance. Lots of lesser known and known titles to find and search for. Great local fare too.

Excellent selection of vintage classic and not too old used books. I drove over an hour to browse the books here.

I have been a customer of Catnap Books for about 7 years, and its not only a MUST visit shop when I am in the area, but I find my mind & soul getting lost amongst the books, the words they contain, and the very atmosphere of the store. The owner, Jim Brooks, is a great guy, the book selection is wonderful, & the prices are very affordable. Its one of the best book shops I have ever been to.

My sister lives in Cobleskill and I visit Catnap Books every time I arrive for a visit! I love the "smell" of the old books that greets you as you walk in the door and especially appreciate the wonderful collection of Civil War books as that is a special interest of mine. The prices are great and I always leave with a sack full of wonderful hours of reading!

The BEST used bookstore, hands down! The owners, Jim and Roberta are friendly, knowledgeable, and the books are very well organized. A treasure-trove for antiquarian books with very fair prices.

Catnap Books is one of my favorite used book stores. There is a large variety of genres-my favorites are historical fiction and historical romance. There are plenty of classics, mysteries, and fiction, as well as non-fiction. Plan to spend a lot of time browsing. There's a lot to see!

Best little bookshoppe ever. They have a most excellent poetry section for pennies. Perfect way to build up your own home library.

They always have a great selection of books and I never walk out without finding something I want. Pretty much all of the paperbacks are only $1 and nothing else is very expensive.
