We had an amazing time! It was more than worth the 3 hour drive up! We found some small “diamonds” but mostly quartz which were still beautiful, definitely bring eye protection and gloves. I also had ear plugs in that really helped since it gets noisey

I want to specially shout out the employee Christopher! I have some hip issues and use a mobility aid and he was super helpful without me even asking! He brought me some water and offered to drive me back up the path if I needed, he also was great at explaining the area since it was our first time there, it was super informative and helpful!

I will definitely be back again, it was such a fun experience!

Went as a group with part my sons boyscout troop. It was a lot of fun, and the kids and I loved it. We found a few diamonds and lots of other fun finds. The only recommendation i would say is its in an open area so be prepared with sunscreen, water, and a umbrella maybe for some shade for breaks or there are areas to hang in shade up back near store. By afternoon i was roasting in the mine area and needed a shade break. Also you may want to bring a chisel and a hammer to save some cash! You can rent Hammers.
Overall highly recommended and I will be back!

Our family had so much fun poking around the mine searching for crystals. The tiny ones were pretty easy to find, the larger ones were harder and felt like just luck. We visited late morning in July, and it quickly got HOT, and there's no shade so we weren't out long before my 3 year old was over it. On a less hot day we could've been out for a lot longer. My littles also enjoyed buying a bag of gems to sluice at the shop, and we had lunch right there which was very good.

The mine is above ground, more like a quarry. It's rocky ground, so I recommend good footwear.

You can rent hammers and chisels right there. We brought gloves, we'd definitely come back and bring eye protection and a bucket as well.

Very nice place been twice here. Pick a day that isn't sunny or bring alot if sun gear! In the part you dig! Nice shop they have to buy some gems and diamonds. You can bring your own gear or rent from them.

Finally took the drive up from CT and had a blast! My only regret is maybe staying the night, cause you can literally just mine all day, but do yourself a favor and make time for lunch and to visit the shop they have. They didn't have any plant based/vegan items at the food court they had so we swung by a sushi place just up the road.

We just brought glasses, backpack, hammers and chisels and we were on our way. Scored a handful of tiny diamonds, not bad for our first time.

Visiting the Herkimer Diamond Mine is an unforgettable experience. Here, you can uncover beautiful, naturally faceted quartz crystals known as "Herkimer Diamonds." The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the mine's picturesque yet rugged setting adds to the charm. With the thrill of finding your own gems to take home, it's a "must-visit" for rock hounds and adventurers alike!

The rocks are very sharp! Definitely wear pants, socks, and hiking boots. Don't forget work gloves and safety glasses. Dogs are not allowed in the mining area unless they have booties on. Otherwise, we had a great time. Once we found one Herkimer Diamond, we were hooked!
We also walked the campgrounds and plan on camping next time. A beautiful layout along the West Canada Creek. Bring your tubes!!

Great time looking for the diamonds. Both my son and hubby broke open rocks for a good two hours. A couple of good finds. Very happy with our time there. Plus they had a little museum with really cool different stoned from lots of other places.

Great place to bring your kids. Has a campground on site, bathrooms, and activities. I loved smashing rocks and discovering the crystals inside. The staff were very friendly and laid back.

Very cool place. The Koa was very busy but still had room to relax. Quiet at night and the diamond mine was great. I love the corn hole and beer and food trucks set up in the center of the park for everyone

This is by far the best KOA we have stayed at.

Lots of things to do for the kids and adults. A river, that you can float down, runs alongside. There are mines to look for diamonds. There are so many cool “cabins” to stay in. The people we met were friendly, other campers and employees alike. There were fun themed activities like a luau, pavilion movies, including many fun educational ones as well.

One employee there, named Harold, was so kind and helpful. We felt very welcome to be there.

We are coming back, at the very least, once a year.

I make the trek out once a year. You keep anything you find. I find most just by digging through the ground. You feel like you're leaving with treasure at the end of the day. They're gorgeous. I love it. 6 out of 5 stars. Pro tip: Always use eye protection! The rock fractures sharp and can fly.

We had a great time. The food was great, the chicken tenders were fantastic. We didn't endulge in the gift store instead we got the $30 mother load sleuth bags and they had giant pieces in them that made it the best souvenir. If you have a cloudy day like we did it was ideal. You are in the open....otherwise you will be baking. They closed at 5.... which was fine for us that day, but it felt early with 4hrs of sun left. Overall it was a great experience for all ages ranges. We are getting pendant necklaces through Amazon too show off ask the Herkimer diamonds We found. Have fun.

You won't be disappointed visiting here 😘

The staff is wonderful and helpful in and around the shops. We did not see any staff in the mine area, which was ok, since you're essentially just busting open rocks or sifting dirt. Wear clothes you are willing to get dirty, knee pads, sunscreen, hat and gloves. You are allowed to bring your own tools such as buckets, hammers, chisels, sives or screens and shovels, chairs, coolers, and, of course, water.

If I could give this place 6 stars. I would!!! This place is absolutely well manicured and so clean!! The staff was friendly, we met Harold as we were packing up and the pride and ownership he takes in his work is phenomenal!! Such a great person to meet! We visited the pool and walked down near the river!! There is so many things to do with the kids there! We met people that lived only 20-25 minutes away come for a recharge! We stayed in Cabin 4 a no frills cabin. But linens were included and the bed was made!! It also had a minifridge and small tv!

Took our elementary grades here. Kids had an absolute great time. They were kept busy the whole time we were there, exploring and finding the Herkimer diamonds. We had a tuff time getting them to stop so we could go get lunch and than get back to the school.
