We just moved to Jackson and wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner. Found this place down the road and we ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The vibes were immaculate. The staff was awesome. And the food was to die for. The ribs fell off the bone and the steak tips were delicious! Definitely recommend.

Super cozy pub with live music and the friendliest staff. The wait for a table on a Saturday night could be long, but you can grab a drink at the bar and relax by the fireplace while you wait. The ambiance was perfect after a long day hiking.

There’s no drink menu at the bar, but it looks like they could make you just about anything you would want.

Tried the Mac and cheese and wings. Both were good, but seeing the other plates around me, I would try something different next time.

They had a really good lobster Mac and cheese! Their garlic wings were tasty but most of all, I really loved their water (lol). The water came straight from the mountains. This pub is also next to the inn we stayed which was super convenient! Worth the visit!

The blueberry maple glazed ribs and the steak tips are amazing. The barn is so rustic and has an amazing story behind it. One of my new favorite places in New Hampshire.

We absolutely love everything about Whitney’s and the Shovel handle pub. The atmosphere, the music, the food, the area and the owners. Eaten here many times, working through the menu and haven’t had a bad meal yet. We got married here in July 2021 because of our great experiences here and we are returning customers for life.

If I was having a mountain wedding I would definitely consider the Shovel Handle for the rehearsal dinner or reception. Beautiful rustic setting 10/10

Best nachos we have ever had.

Absolutely some of the best food I've ever had up here since I've been coming here. All the staff are extremely kind, the restaurant itself always gives me a good bit of nostalgia, and the food has always been a hit. Anytime I'm up here, I try to hit up the Shovel Handle at least once. Cannot recommend this place enough.

my boyfriend and I enjoyed tasty burgers with bacon and some perfect French fries. Our server was awesome and super helpful. We had wings for an app, and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Everything was lovely and filled our bellies for our 1st night in the white mountains. It was a really cute, intimate barn atmosphere with live music from a very talented singer and guitarist. The sun was setting and the fairy lights set a peaceful vibe. The food was perfect as a left overs for a midnight snack, the fries were still crispy. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area, the staff are friendly and inviting and the food was comforting. Thanks Shovel Handle!

First time here for us, and we had a nice meal, reasonably priced, and a really good guitar entertainer, Bobby Sheehan.

Enjoyed two delicious meals here while attending weddings. Both the steak tips and chicken cordon bleu are delicious. Best food i have ever had at a wedding. The restaurant is a old barn with lots of rustic charm draped in white lights. Perfect venue.

We had such a good time there. We came in at 6:30 on a Friday and sat right down. It was a beautiful atmosphere, plus alive band was awesome. Every server that we met was absolutely amazing and very kind. I will definitely be coming back maybe for my sister-in-law's wedding because she loved it so much. And when the food came out oh my God. I had the ribeye steak which was melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness it had crumbled on blue cheese and it was huge. My boyfriend's and brother-in-law both had the steak tips which I highly recommend anybody that goes there should get those. All in all it was a wonderful experience I can go on and on about it cuz we had good laughs and just a great time there thank you everyone that treated

Eaten there many times during ski seasons, over the last several years. Although you may need to wait to be seated, they are always up front about it. The food is great...never a bad meal, and the atmosphere is casual and fun. Sit at the bar and have a drink (bartenders pour great whiskey drinks) and relax listening to live music. Only thing, on wicked cold nights, dress warmly in case you end up sitting downstairs...it can be cool down there.

What a great rustic restaurant. Located at the base of Black Mountain ski resort which gives this place excellent views all year long. Don't be fooled by thinking this is a typical over priced ski resort restaurant. I had a mahogany roasted duck that was to die for. crispy skin and juicy meat, one of the best duck dishes I have had. Stocked with a wide variety of bourbon and a live guitar player gives this place an upscale feel in a rustic laid-back environment.

I ordered the pot roast and my husband had the Salmon. The food was really delicious and our waitress was attentive. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and we sat close by to the fire place. We enjoyed the evening.

The drinks were perfect while we waited (no more than 20 minutes) for our table at 7 on a Saturday night. Ended up getting three different apps (buffalo chicken dip, wings, and pizza) and everything was to die for. Not to mention the band that was playing filled the pub with wonderful sounds. I would highly recommend this place, one of the best restaurants in NH without a doubt.
