Light Rail Cafe

One of my fav hangouts in Jersey City! The street name has special meaning to me ,so I keep going back for the food, music and atmosphere! The vibe is always good and the sips are tasty. I've been twice in 2024 and both times , had a great time. This is a multi level venue with a rooftop deck and a lower outside area. The servers are always pleasant. I'll be back before winter for sure!

I would suggest anyone reviewing this place, understand it's setting and vibe before doing so.. This is a small, casual place, that offers good food and drinks at a reasonable price.. They are not "Fancy", so don't expect that..

We were 8 people in total and showed up without reservation since it was unplanned, and we were all just hungry, after a long and tiring evening, and this was the only place nearby with a good rating.. It was 1st time for all us.. Place was packed with barely any room but they got us seated right away by opening up the upper level.. Service was a little slow, but that was expected with the crowd, and the fact that we were seated separately from the rest of tables..

There was no complaints on the Taste or Quantity of the Food, especially for the price.. There was mix up with the getting separate checks, but again, it was understandable and they were quite apologetic about it..

Food was delicious! Good prices and the Mac n cheese was maccin’ !! The server Mabel was sweet as well. They don’t accept Apple Pay but I was able to zelle my server :). Definitely coming here for my birthday!!!

Visiting the area. Went after a visit to the Liberty Science Center. 10/10 food and service. Our server Henny went above and beyond in every aspect. Overall great experience. Great food, great atmosphere. Great experience. Family friendly. Only bummed we missed out on the rooftop patio. Must visit!!

Great food, friendly service, very reasonable prices. Place was packed, but they found a place for 8 people upstairs. And served food very fast. All the dishes were great, but two stood out - hunger stake and chicken with waffle!

Really pleasant experience. The chicken & waffles were really good! Loved the extra crispy and flavorful chicken tenders. The sangria was pretty tasty as well.

Great food great service. A neighborhood spot where even NYers felt welcomed. Definitely looking forward to visiting during the warmer times to experience the rooftop and the view!

Amazing spot ! I love when the customers show personality ! The staff was super pleasant and the food was delicious. I ordered a BLT and teriyaki wings With fries. The teriyaki flavor was phenomenal, & my favorite part about this brunch was the sandwich and the low priced beers. Oh and they have an itinerary for they’re events this month. DOPE

Gem!!! Great space, menu, staff, events, music, back yard, drink specials and corner location. Cash only but so worth it! Good coffee as well. (Susanna you are too cute honey!)

Great coffee and drinks, excellent food (I'm just a tourist but are these the best fries on the east coast???), and the kind of stellar, caring, compassionate service that you only get from a small shop that's clearly run with a lot of heart. Pedro is the chillest bartender / barista ever, and starting my days with a coffee and a smile from him made our vacation so much better!

The host and waitress were amazing. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. What stood out the most was they cleared the table of any type of trash before we even noticed. That's a huge PLUS.

The service and food was excellent. I was surprised at the variety on the menu, they even serve oxtails! The flavored Sangria was delicious and they have several flavor options.

ordered the penne ya way with vodka sauce, the caesar salad and chicken tenders on uber eats at 11:00 pm and everything was so fresh and tasty—something i hardly experience with late-night delivery orders. the tenders were still hot & crispy and the penne was one of the best i’ve ever had. will definitely be ordering from here again!

Good simple local spot - a bistro/bar would be an accurate description.
From the name, I was under the impression this is a grab a coffee and pastry/desert type of place - for that head to The Grind down the road.
Owner and waitress were nice, and allowed me to get some work done on my laptop in the upstairs area.

Really good Catfish sandwich and calamari with the sweet chili is excellent!
