The Pennywell St.Louis Downtown, a Hilton Hotel

I’m giving them 5 stars bc even though the rooms were a bit older and worn, the service was great. Everyone at the front desk was helpful, valet (Kevin) was great, security (Carl) helped us get our car quickly one night when valet had gone to the restroom and we had a small emergency and needed our car quickly. We didn’t utilize housekeeping but they were very friendly in the hallways. It seemed like everyone was very happy to be working there! Very accommodating! Walking distance to Arch, Starbucks, and several other places.

I recently stayed at the Pennywell Hilton hotel in St. Louis, and overall, it was a pleasant experience that deserves a solid rating. The lobby is quaint and charming. I loved the old bank vault in the lobby that was turned into the food shop! There is great food options in the hotel as well!

First and foremost, the hotel's location is fantastic. Situated in the heart of St. Louis, it provided easy access to popular attractions like the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, and the Dome. This made exploring the city a breeze. The hotel's staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any questions or requests. Their hospitality added a welcoming touch to the stay especially since they had a busy weekend!

The rooms at Pennywell Hilton were comfortable and the amenities provided were adequate. However, a bit more attention to detail in terms of room cleanliness would have been appreciated to elevate the experience. The linen shower curtain had some black spots / mold along the bottom of it and the shower head leaked. Noise from the streets came through since there was not much sound proofing.

In conclusion, Pennywell Hilton in St. Louis is a comfortable and well-located hotel that offers a pleasant stay.

Staff is very friendly. We have always felt like we were well taken care of. The bar and bartender are top notch, with unique signature cocktails. The atmosphere of the hotel from the entry to the room is amazing. The rooms are not cookie cutter with high ceilings and character. Stayed twice so far and plan on staying again.

I was on a last-minute weekend getaway with my daughters, and we stayed at the Pennywell Hotel. I originally booked with a 4rd party that got our reservations wrong, but was able to cancel and rebook directly with the lovely women at the front desk.

We enjoyed 2 exquisite meals. We had dinner and I would recommend everything my party ordered. My girls were adventurous and had the octopus, with a cheese burger back up they shared. They are still raving about 4 days later. I had the shrimp and grits, and let me tell you, the greens that came on top of the grits were something to tell your mama about. So good. Again, the service at the restaurant was great. the staff was attentive but knew when to give distance for my kids and I to enjoy each other's company and the live music. The next morning, We ended our stay with breakfast because dinners was so good.

The service was great. We stayed in a double queen room. The beds were comfortable, and I liked that my room had a roomy desk and strong wifi, so I was able to complete work after everyone was sleeping.

I stayed at the Pennywell for a short weekend. The lobby was beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the overnight front desk man was not friendly and awkward, which was slightly concerning. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would still return!

The front desk agent was extremely helpful and nice. F&B was lacking a little when it came to service however the food was great. Full of flavor but the presentation was lacking.

Great location if you are visiting to see the Arch. Only a 5 min walk away from hotel.

This is a classy hotel. Great room and very clean. They have a great valet service and beautiful lobby. The shower had enough pressure to blow your skin off. I loved it. Very unusual for a room on the fifth floor. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The location was with walking distance to many great restaurants. I had a very pleasant stay. I would book a room here anytime.

From the Valet Workers to the boss man everyone was absolutely phenomenal. I cannot remember anyone's name from our visit in December but everyone was extremely helpful and went out of their way for us. Would 100% recommend the Pennywell to anyone

We stayed at the Pennywell The night of Christmas Eve, 2023. When we entered the hotel lobby, we met Alex, the hotel manager, and this guy was absolutely wonderful, from being hospitable to entertaining the children even to a room upgrade he made the entire experience wonderful not to mention the staff and service members of the Pennywell Who did their jobs to the T. I’d highly recommend the Pennywell for their clean rooms, impeccable service, excellent manager. -Keri Petty

We loved our stay at the Pennywell hotel. It is a little price but it was worth every Penny. 😜 The hotel is a 5 min or less walk to the Arch. It’s about a 10-15 min walk to the Cardinals Stadium. We used the valet option for our rental car, it was $45 per day but it was worth it. We were able to send a text and our car was ready and waiting for us whenever we needed it. We also didn’t have to deal with trying to park in the parking garage because the valet took care of it. Our room was super clean and the hotel staff were friendly. Overall a beautiful Hilton hotel with the usual quality you expect from Hilton.

Alex the manager was such an angel. we got to the hotel and had some issues with verification of our room and such, but he was so quick to go above and beyond to help us out and get it sorted out, even tho we were the ones who made the problem with our checkin. we also talked to him about how our plan of skydiving got canceled because of the weather and he wrote out so many options of things for us to do instead. he made sure we were safe going out at night, and checked back in with us to make sure we were finding fun things to do. he just had such an easy going personality and was really fun. also shout out to carl the valet guy for accepting my push-up contest challenge. you’re epic

Stayed here because I was in town for a concert. There is a lot of things within walking distance. The rooms are spacey and the beds are really comfortable. The people working the front desk and valet parking were all really nice and professional. Will definitely stay here again if I'm ever in the area.

Don’t believe the haters! We had a good experience at this hotel. Room was very nice with no problems. We liked that it wasn’t some cookie cutter hotel and has sort of a 20’s style about it. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend it.

I just want to say how absolutely amazing our stay was. Great location, lots to do, staff was absolutely welcoming, warm, and helpful. From the valet to front desk. The gentleman in valet even helped with our luggage!

We just drove 16 hours from Colorado to St. Louis. We pulled into St. Louis at 6am. I called the hotel to see if we could check inn early. Raden at the front desk said yes come on in. That was the best news ever. Raden for my weary family into a room, was so helpful, warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. We can not express how much we appreciated everything he did that day for my family!!

The Pennywell is a special property, with a bright lobby of a historic bank and modern rooms. Liked all the design details, even in the hallways. It's an upscale hotel, around the corner from the Arch and a couple blocks from Busch Stadium, etc.

My team and I recently stayed at this hotel and I can’t thank the entire staff at the Pennywell for their kindness and fantastic customer service during our stay. After a very distressing event during our work day on the other side of the city, the staff here went over and beyond to ease the distress of my team members. Management and the restaurant staff made a really bad day a bit more bearable and took amazing care of us all. We ate almost all of our meals at Pennydrop (Best Deviled Eggs EVER!) and every single server there was fantastic with a great food and drink menu. Loved the whole feel of the hotel and spacious rooms. Thank you to the whole staff who helped us during our stay and this will be our choice hotel when we visit St. Louis again for sure.

Very nice hotel remodeled from an old bank. High ceilings and tasteful decor. Nice large rooms, twisting halls, secure elevators, and restaurant on bottom floor. Door make an awful racket when slammed, can hear the toilet flush from outside the rooms. Clerks were very friendly, valet service available. Tweekers kept away from the front door.

I'm enjoying my weekend stay. They need more variety in the snack area. No chips or Coke

I had a very nice experience at this hotel. The rooms were not huge, but nicely decorated. The lounge/bar seemed to have events almost nightly when I was there. They have a self park or valet. This is a great location of the Arch and the ballpark area.

Architecturally unique! Lots of Character! The usual exceptional Hilton experience EXCEPT when one is an early riser or needs to leave the hotel before 7, one must do so without a morning coffee. The Pennywell reserves all coffee for the paid sit-down breakfast, which opens at 7a.m. I am no fan of a free buffets but to need to wait until 7 for a cup of $4 coffee I found off-putting. However, the excellent location of the Pennywell allowed alternative venues for an early cup of coffee.
