More Rush Food Gallery

I've been reading about so many people talking about More Rush on the Nextdoor app. I told my wife about the place and had the opportunity to try them out one day while we were out. My wife called in her order and spoke to the ever so friendly Ms. Lucy. We were only like 5 minutes away and Ms. Lucy said she'll have it ready when we arrived. Sure enough, we arrived and when I went in, it was ready as promised. It was such a pleasure to speak with Ms. Lucy for a few moments and the restaurant has a very nice appearance. I picked up a beef tip plate for my wife and some peach cobbler. The food was good, but the peach cobbler stole the show. It was so good that my wife sent me back another day just to get some more peach cobbler. We had read about someone talking about the peach cobbler and cheesecake. This is how my wife decided to try the peach cobbler. I'm pretty sure I'll be back for some more peach cobbler for my wife and try the cheesecake or other dessert for myself.

I ordered from More Rush for the first time in May of this year. I ordered the smothered chicken entree for my 28 year old son who is a very selective eater. I wasn’t sure he would eat it but purchased it anyway. I ordered the smothered pork chops and sides for myself. Now as you can see, there is plenty of food large portions for only $14.99 for protein and two sides. My son, who is very selective with food he eats, ate the whole plate of smothered chicken. I sampled the chicken and thought it was good…very rich in flavor and seasoned just right to satisfy my taste buds for comfort soul food.

My smothered pork chops and sides was just as delicious. I enjoy two servings out of that one plate. I have returned twice since my first visit in May. In fact, I no longer need to drive to “This Is It” soul food in Third Ward for my share of comfort soul food…More Rush is closer to home and I think, in my humble opinion, has moved to first place. It’s something about the rich flavor and gravy seasoned to perfection over fluffy rice and the tenderness of their protein that keeps me going back.. at least once a month..

I have read some of their reviews. Many of the bad reviews center around delivery from Grub Hub…missing food, delivery time, etc.which has nothing to do with food quality.

The one negative remark I offer is it takes forever to order and pay, then gotta wait for food order to be packaged…total time is about 30 min…and each time I patronized More Rush there was only 3 or 4 customers ahead of me… Gotta do better with time as people gotta get back to work.

I have eaten from other soul food places as well..like Miki’s which I went once and never returned…and they are located closer to my home than More Rush.

The food is DELICIOUS! I had baked turkey wings, yams, dirty rice & cabbage. My husband had smothered pork chops & sides. All delicious! Friendly staff & good service. The Owner shared they are taking Thanksgiving orders as well. Will definitely let them cook for me this holiday season. Especially with the pandemic. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered take today for lunch and the food was delicious. My entree was Turkey leg, cabbage and yams. Good serving portion for the price of $14 and desert peach cobbler $5. The owner was very professional and friendly. I will return to dine in with friends.

Great food and friendly staff!! The turkey leg/wing was delicious!! Seasoned well generous portions and fairly priced. I wanted to have the chocolate cake but they were out so we tried the turtle cheesecake and the strawberry cheesecake and all I can say is OH MY GOD!!! This will be one of our regular places to eat from now on!

My husband got their okras, cabbage, rice and chicken. Yes we’re kind of in a diet and that’s the best we could have asked for. The okras was to die for. Everything was absolutely delicious. My husband actually bit into the bones, the chicken was so tender! If you’re thinking about trying this place out. JUST DO IT!!

Everything about this place is great. The food is A1. The service is wonderful. Feels like home cause they welcome you in. When I say all the food is good it's all good. I couldn't pick a favorite. The seasoning is all good. The best soul food i have ever tasted. I will support you where ever you good. God bless this business and keep the hard workers covered. Y'all have to try it.

Oh my god, I am stuffed!! Not just any kind of stuffed. However stuffed frombthe kind of dirty rice my mother used to make along with the best boudin balls that you will get around here! The greens were amazing along with the beans and mac n cheese. I tell you.. it was sure busy inside. I did wait a bit. However great food is worth the wait. It's a must try.
Continuing it's almost been about a year since I wrote this review I went in this afternoon and I was hungry I'm a door Dasher so I know Miss Lisa and John and his wife quite well now going in there picking up y'all food orders. So I went in today and I was just hungry I thought that fried chicken I said Miss Lisa and I have some dark chicken of course she said and she started loading up my plate. I got in that car I took the chicken leg and I devoured it. It had no Fighting Chance. Their chicken is way better than KFC Popeyes and Church's Chicken. Oh man I had some mac and cheese and red beans and rice I'm sitting here wondering if I should hate all that or not because here I am waiting for other people's orders in this is not going to work out well. But honestly these folks are one of the most down-to-earth loving people that you will ever be able to meet yes sometimes it's not fasting there but you got to realize they're not microwaving your food they are cooking it to order this is not frozen food this is fresh food

Visited on a Sunday (opened one month)and brought a guest with me. The establishments interior  is modern and the signature pink color on the walls greets you when you walk in. If it's familiar to you it's because the other establisments are all ever town. (Sugar Rush Cake Gallery) We ordered take out for ourselves and family members at home as well).
The service was awesome. The food was fresh and hot.
From preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The entrees we ordered were fried fish, fried fish n shrimps(french fries), oxtails, pig feet. Sides were mac n cheese, candied yams, corn, collard greens, black eyed peas, yams, steamed cabbage and cracklin cornbread.
Desserts were cakes, peach cobbler, and cookies. Just the right balance of friendliness and efficiency. Looking forward to my next outing in the future. What a great place and a great value for the price. 5☆☆☆☆☆'s

The food is so good. Mrs. Lucy and the other staff are so friendly. You feel like family when you go there. They will take the time to explain the menu items to you. Their dessert is awesome also. You must try this hidden gem.

My son and I went there for the first time today. The restaurant was clean with great atmosphere and the owner and staff were professional and friendly. The food was excellent. Also good portions for the price. Will definitely go again.

I stopped here in a rush trying to find cupcakes for my 2yr olds b'day party, they were so sweet and helpful. And the cupcakes were absolutely delicious!! I didn't get a chance to try their food but it looked so so good! I can't wait to go back!

This place is well kept. People are very sweet and best of all food is awesome. Highly recommend if you are in the area to stop by for great food. Dessert is bomb.

Wow..what a great Sunday meal my husband and I just enjoyed..Thank you for what I call good home cooking..be sure to thank the entire staff..nice clean facility and many choices on the menu..I will be back

Food is on point, had the meat loaf with sweat potato and something else, can’t remember. Great customer service! I’ll be back 👍
