Great food for an even better cause.
Although they have a weekly menu, they are always willing to accommodate your requests if they can do so.
There are no prices. You make a donation as a payment.
Please don't be a cheapskate. I've seen party's brag about leaving just $5.00 to feed an entire table.
Any plate & drink is worth at least $15 or more anywhere else...and it won't taste as good.
Expect to wait to be seated. It goes quickly & certainly worth the wait.

First time coming here and I am not disappointed. Service was fast and attentive despite it being extremely packed. Servers are sweet and can answer any and all questions.

Food was delicious, felt home cooked and was served in HUGE portions. I recommend the New York sandwich!

Just remember they take cash as payment ONLY however they do have an ATM in the back.

Highly recommend this place and love that I can give back to the community by being here 💕

I finally had the time to try Comfort Cafe today for breakfast & it did not disappoint. I ordered the special they had which is Waffle Flight & roasted tomato soup. Everything was full of flavor and delicious! The waiter who served me was extremely friendly & kind! I will definitely be back soon :)

We really enjoyed our food and the experience at this restaurant. Our server was so friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and well made. We didn’t know anything about it and selected it based upon the high stars it had received. We learned when we got there about the mission of the organization to support people struggling with addiction. We also learned that you pay based on a donation. That was such a nice surprise. We were so pleased with everything that we donated slightly more than the meal would have cost at a high end lunch restaurant. We also gave a generous tip as the staff were amazing and also were participants in the program. Would love to support establishments like this one all day long.

Ok, so it’s a donation based restaurant. I do like the premise, but I really didn’t know this going in there. It’s a cool idea, but I’m more… structured (I don’t know if that’s the right word) than that. I don’t like unknowns or “pay what your heart tells you”. They give you a “rule-of-thumb” of $15 a plate, but I really didn’t think my plate was worth that. I’d rather pay the price of the plate and then donate on top of that, the pay what you want model gives me anxiety. Also, we went there because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. We didn’t go to First Watch because I was hoping to save a little and we saw a cafe on google thinking it would be cost effective, but then felt obligated to pay $15 a plate plus some…

That being said, the food was really good! Our service was great. I loved the decorations and decor. I was really vibing with the place. I don’t think my waiter understood my tastes when I explained what I was looking for, but that’s more on me. Overall excellent food.

So would I go back? Yes absolutely and I suggest trying them out. Of course it’ll only be on a breakfast where I’m cool with spending a little more. Again, I like the idea, and while it’s not quite what I prefer, I’d go again

Been hearing about this place since I moved to San Antonio four years ago, finally remembered and made it out. Absolutely love this place! It’s a pay-what-you-can style restaurant, where they ask for $15/entree. Anything over that is donated to help people who can’t pay and/or to benefit the charity they support.

And that doesn’t even start on the food! The food here is excellent, the Benedict’s being better than plenty of other restaurants that would charge way more for worse quality. And the chocolate chip pancakes… my weakness. Genuinely amazing food and atmosphere.

We came before 0900 on a Sunday morning and we were quickly seated with no wait...Lucky! My husband had the crabby benny at the server's recommendation - delicious crabcake eggs benedict! I had a tasty florentine omelet. Our fresh, hot, coffee was always quickly refilled. Our server was excellent. Bring cash for payment or use the on-site ATM. Love the cozy atmosphere and spacious parking at the Bandera location.

Took my little brother to the new location on Bandera today for his birthday breakfast. We arrived about 9:20am, went inside, joined the waiting list, and was called to be seated at 9:37am.

If you have never been you have got to go, food is always amazing!

We ordered the following:
Huevos Rancheros plate
Breakfast Special with bacon plate
Chocolate strawberry stuffed waffles
CBGB benny plate
Pancake Flight (strawberry, blueberry, and cinnamon roll)
Coffee/tea/water

Our waiter RJ was able to explain the tip process: "what you feel you want to pay for the food goes in the server book ($15 suggestion per entree)and what you feel you want to tip goes on top of the server book" Although, the tip doesn't go directly to that server, they do combine and split them.

Overall, it was a 10+ experience for food AND service. My brother and SNL had never been. They totally enjoyed it as well as the mission/purpose, and my SNL said she would even be mentioning to her family so they can enjoy the wonderful experience! ❤

Worth the wait! You can check in on Yelp ahead of time. Service was very good and down to earth. Turnaround time from placing our order and receiving it was under 10 minutes and that was with a full house. Definitely recommend, and I love the cause!

Portion sizes are large, food is tasty, the service is great. This is a chatty backed establishment with a suggested spend of $15 per plate. No alcohol here as they’re helping people from addiction recovery. Great breakfast

Must try breakfast/brunch spot. We only had to wait 5 min before being seated. The staff are all friendly, polite and very helpful with info. We were told our food would take 10-15 min but arrived well under 10 min. Everything we ordered was excellent. Give this awesome restaurant a try, you’ll be glad you did. We will be returning to order the other dishes we saw while there that looks great. 🤙🏼

This Cafe has won our heart, the food was delicious today the least. Comfort food without a doubt. Gina was such a sweetheart and very professional. It was the mission that has touched our heart and we were blessed to learn the importance of giving our support to Comfort Care. My son is a server at 54th Street and sometimes he works all day and make very little tips today he gave all his tips he made this week and felt happy to do so. My parents who didn't understand the story perfectly gave from their heart and I tipped Gina for being an amazing example. The family favorites are the Parfait, the San Antonio burger and the Hash brown casserole... Every single thing was delicious. I invited you to visit and give from your heart. Wonderful people work here!

The second visit was great, it's like walking into your own home. I enjoyed my stuffed french toast.

Food is Amazing and let talk about the pancakes OMG!!!!
Everyone is so friendly and very polite you might have a little wait but trust me it’s SO WORTH THE WAIT!!!!come judge for your self

French toast flight was amazing. Great staff and cause to support. Wait time was better than most places in SA they use yelp.

This place was beyond my expectations. Food presentation is gorgeous, taste was delicious and staff was amazing. I can not wait to go back. They ask that you pay 15.00 per plate. That price is very reasonable for what you get. However we were compelled to pay over for the experience and the cause. Food is amazing! The staff are friendly, love that my money is going towards helping the community. I will say the wait time is long due to demand, but it is without a doubt worth the wait. Will definitely be coming back again.

My first time here! The Rueben Sandwich was excellent, the Strawberry Cheesecake was the bomb and service was impeccable! Excellent overall and will be back. Pay what you feel like and tip as well. 15% is a fair price!

The mission itself is incredible. But the quality of the food and the atmosphere and service were even better.

We were seated right away and didn’t have a wait. There are plenty of tables to dine at. LOTS of food choices. The menu is extensive. We could have ordered breakfast or lunch.

All is donation based ($15 suggested).
