East Carolina Outfitters

This place sets the standard for a low country turkey and deer hunt. The owner and his crew of experienced guides who know the land and the deer make it all the more easier to help us get on deer year after year. This year will be our 9th year coming down and we look forward to it, as it’s our favorite trip of the year. Whenever we first started coming down we didn’t know anybody, fast forward to now and those guys are like family. If you’re on the fence of coming down or not, do it. You won’t regret it.

I have been going to East Carolina Outfitters for the past 6 years with my brother and bringing friends each year! This place is definitely recommended for people who are use to free range hunting. There is never a guarantee of getting anything but the guides at East Carolina Outfitters will always go above and beyond to put you in the best place possible to see something. We are fortunate to have Joel as one of our guides and he is the best there is! I have been very fortunate in the past filling my tags every year. I have gotten several wall mounts from this outfitter. This year we went down the 1st week of November on a 6.5 day hunt and I did not get one. Our guide Joel did everything he could to try to put deer in front of me but I totally understand these deer are not fenced in and is free range. We are from upstate NY living in the Adirondacks so we are use to free range. The owner Ralph is always around and has been very accomodating to our group every year!! I highly recommend this place to anyone. We have already booked for this year!

I highly recommend this outfitter. I am satisfied with the trips I have taken in the past six years with East Carolina. The accomodations are clean and comfortable. The lodge is always large enough to fit our group. Buddy and Joel are the two guides that I have had experience with and they both are very knowledgeable. I have seen deer on all of my trips. I have been to several other outfitters that were not legit and didn't care about the group.That is not the case with this outfitter. I am looking forward to hunting with them again.

I've been hunting at East Carolina Outfitters for the past 12+ years. My hunting experiences are great memorable times with family and friends. This is where my son Jake killed his first buck at the age of 10, what a great memory of a lifetime. Not to mention that Ralph, Buddy and the other guides throughout the years have been the best. These have been by far the best hunting years in my life.

Great place to spend a week at! The guides are wonderful and made my week very enjoyable. And the deer hunting is just a bonus.

Great place to hunt, hospitality and experience is second to none. Look forward to going there every year anyone considering going there should have no second thoughts you’ll be back every year!!

Worked hard to give us a good hunt

Great place for hunting.

Had a great time with my friends and family that were with me. Accommodations were good and guides always picked us up on time. Besides that we were not shown any trail cam footage of any deer after asking multiple times. We asked several times to go back to a stand that we liked and were basically ignored. Our guide was friendly in the beginning but did not do his homework. No bait was out prior to us getting there. Most of the stands we sat in had little to no bait when we got in. 2 afternoon sits were a complete waste of time and we shouldn’t have been in them to begin with. One person in my group went 2 full days in a row not seeing any deer besides the last hour of our last hunt, and because it was the last day of our hunt he couldn’t shoot a doe so another tag was not filled.
Halfway through our hunt, our guides attitude changed completely. We felt that we did something to upset him with the way he was acting towards us and nothing had changed from the beginning. We would ask him what the plan would be for the next hunt and his response was “I don’t plan”. The night of our last sit no one came in to ask what we thought of the trip, if there was something different they could do. The next morning we left no one said anything to us.
We put a lot of time and money into a hunt that should have been fun and exciting. Instead we felt that we were just a filler for them to make some extra cash.
We had several other friends eagerly waiting to hear from us so they could book next year, we told them to not waste their time.

Went out for early muzzleloader, nothing was ready/prepared for us. Asked for trail camera pictures and Joel refused to show us. Wouldn't let us go back to a stand that we hunted before. Rude to us when we were going to leave, seemed like we were a burden to him. Had several friends looking to book a hunt every year based off our experience, they will not be going to East Carolina Outfitters.
