Poe's Tavern

This is one of my favorite places to eat at Wrightsville Beach. The Chili Con Queso is my favorite appetizer.

All of the burger Combinations are delicious. The Annabel Lee & Rue Morgue are two of my favorites. The crab cake that comes on the Annabel Lee is so good they could definitely sale larger versions of that crab cake in a solo dish.

The french fries are very good and the onion straws are delicious. This is a must try if you are visiting or live in the area.

It was my first time here and I loved every second. Our server Jenna was super friendly and honestly went above and beyond to make sure our experience was flawless. The burger we had was HUGE and definitely worth every penny. The only thing I did not like was the fries but other than that everything else was great. We will definitely be coming back again .

I absolutely love Poe's Tavern, and I try to make it every time I vacation at the beach. The service is always incredible. I got a burger with a crabcake, but there are so many unique options. The best part is the atmosphere. Everything is so on theme, including the menu items.

Fun place with a great vibe. Food was delicious and you get the option for chicken, beef, or veggie for the sandwiches. Also good beer selection. Our waitress (I believe her name was Lauren) was super friendly and helpful! Would love to go back again and try another sandwich. A raven also visited us outside (lol)

Absolutely fantastic! It was my first time there and they exceeded all of my expectations! I would like to thank the server, Kevin, who was amazing and the kitchen staff, especially the main chef, whose name is unknown but will be in my memory of "rising the bar" of what a fantastic burger is supposed to be! (You, sir, toasted the bun to my burger, and I thank you!) Thank you guys so much! I will certainly return for another round of excellence.

Outside of all the food I found along the pier, beach, and lake here in Wilmington/Wrightsville; Poe's Tavern was by far the best one. Their menu is full of an assortment of burgers, tacos, and salads/soups. If you're vegan or vegetarian; they do offer a housemade black bean patty. At first, I was skeptical, but this little patty was full of moisture and flavor, unlike some of the dried and blend ones out there. The onion straws were to die for and salty to perfection. The service was good despite the ongoing flow of traffic. The food was affordable compared Poe's neighboring restaurants.
All in all, if you can fight the "2 minutes" beach traffic and elevator bridge, it's worth it!

Love a spot that yesses me!!! No gluten free buns for my burgers but all my alternatives were answered with a YES and an OF COURSE WE CAN.

Burgers were cooked perfectly. Fries were crispy and delicious.

Outdoor seating was perfect.

My last name is Poe...where else would I go to eat?. First time here. I like the open atmosphere and Poe theme. Seated promptly, however our waitress seemed a little distracted. Did her job but was not that friendly. Food was great. I had a Tel-Tale burger. It was done to my liking and everyone agreed the fries were some of the best we've had. We'll be back.

My family and I drove up for a couple of days from the Greensboro area. We chose Poe’s Tavern for dinner. Right out of the gate we were seated fast despite it being somewhat busy.

Our server was a gentleman named Reid who was prompt, courteous, and professional. After we took a couple of minutes going over the menu, we ordered. The food came out in seemingly no time and was delicious!

The chicken was grilled perfectly and their signature shoestring fries were outstanding! They were crisp and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. My wife and my daughter also loved their food.

From start to finish the food, service, and experience was complete satisfaction. I was presently surprised by Poe’s Tavern. If I should ever find myself in the area again, I will definitely come back!!!

Poe’s makes the BEST Nachos in Wilmington. Get y’all some extra pico and guacamole, add chicken with chili on the side. Never disappoints!

The portions are huge, the food scrumptious, atmosphere cool and our wait staff was attentive and funny. We were there at 11am when they first opened and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly Recommend.

Excellent place for Burgers and Beer. Burgers are cooked to order and all of them have Poe names which is neat. The bathrooms were clean and there is plenty of table seating. Even their outdoor seating was open and the table out there had their pets with them. Overall great food, good service, good music.

Service was amazing and quick. Even to accommodate our party of 7. Drinks never went more than half empty. Large variety of beef, chicken and vegetarian options. The side of fresh seasonal fruit was plentiful and fresh as well.

By all means Poe’s Tavern is the best restaurant at Wrightsville Beach. The food was freshly made, well seasoned and delicious, and the service was simply outstanding. I highly recommend it to everyone. Besides if you have an artistic soul and you are in love with English Literature and especially with the writers from the Romanticism, you must know that this Tavern is named after Edgar Allan Poe since supposedly he liked to write while vacationing at Carolinas beaches. For those of you who do not know, Poe was an American writer, poet, editor, and literary critic who is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. He is widely regarded as a central figure of Romanticism in the United States, and of American literature.

I just had the biggest burger and largest order of shoestring fries at Poe's. I ordered my burger "as rare as you can make it" and it was perfection! I always think that if a restaurant can't serve you a rare burger, they're not using good beef. This beef was great and it was a nice, thick, rare burger.

The big burger went along with the LARGE side of fries. I love shoestring fries!

The atmosphere was very "pubby.". The bathroom walls were covered in pages of Edgar Allan Poe's books.... Pretty cool!

You would think being on Wrightsville Beach the atmosphere would be the five star. It’s is, but the staff and the food are above that. Recommend the black cat burger or Annabelle Lee burger. Chili fries are amazing as well. Stop in whenever. You will not be disappointed at all.

My boyfriend and I love coming here for date night. We always ask to sit on the patio, even if it’s cold, and we always ask for Kelly. She is amazing and fun, and she always makes sure we get exactly what we want.
Also, I love that I never know what color her hair is gonna be.
Anyway, enough about how amazing Kelly is. The food is good for a date night, and it’s not too expensive. It’s too loud inside, but the patio is nice.

Service was friendly and fast. Waiter was very knowledgeable of menu. Wheelchair friendly. Food was delicious.

Solid food. Great environment. Excellent service. Poe is a family favorite and they really capture a Poe vibe with their decor…down to the bathroom being wallpapered in pages from Poe stories while a Poe book on take plays on the speaker. I would love it if they piped in the audio book to the dining room or had optional speakers at the table so you could listen to the stories while eating.

Very nice place to enjoy a nice meal and drinks. Menu is typical American fare with seafood choices mixed in. I had a burger and it was very good.
