One of my most favorite places in the Triangle to look at birds and have a casual hike. The bridge has some cool graffitis and provides a great view of the Haw River!

Beautiful scenery, easy to follow river trail. Super cool graffiti on the bridge and other concrete structures. Really neat mix of graffiti with nature 👍 There is also a dam nearby that you can visit.

The Lower Haw SNA and Bynum Bridge area are two of my favorite places in NC to visit. The views are incredible and that section of the Haw River is just stunning. An excellent spit for birding with warblers and other species present in large quantities. Very long trail along the river with many access points for getting in the water. Usually the water level is low and allows for some rock hopping and exploration. This is an incredible place to visit.

Beautiful area. Great Class II-III piedmont whitewater for experienced paddlers. If you plan to paddle the Haw go with someone who knows it, know the water levels and know how they would relate to your personal abilities and paddling skills. Unfortunately, there are rescues on the Haw almost every year due to inexperienced and uninformed paddlers getting in over their head (pun intended). If you want to learn how to paddle whitewater nothing beats professional instruction.

It's a beautiful place to walk with a very nice trail. There are beautiful views of the Haw River. You can park by the old bridge and walk over to the main parking lot and trail, or you can park in the main lot and access the trail from there. It can get pretty overgrown in the warmer months, so fall, winter, and early spring are the best times to walk. It can also flood after a heavy rain. Otherwise, it's very nice.

Beautiful place to hike a long the river. Flat hike but a few rocky section and creek crossings.

Interesting spot -- a concrete bridge covered in graffiti is now a pedestrian bridge over the Haw. The Haw is extra wide here and quite scenic -- not far from where it joins the Deep River to become the Cape Fear.

We absolutely love this place. It was easy to get to and fun to walk across the ‘Art Bridge’, then through the little jungle right before you get to the river. When we went there was only one beer bottle cap laying in the sand of the shore. Saw absolutely no other signs of trash anywhere. The water was actually kind of warm, which was odd because it was only May of 2018 when we were there, but that’s alright because I hate being cold lol.
Also we went during the week around noon, so hardly anyone else was there.

Quiet and peaceful. There is a housing development near by but the times I have been out here there has been no one else. It's a small but nice park to relax and just be outdoors. There is a small playground if you want to bring kids but mostly just open area

Have a lot of funs here when we walked along the trial surrounded with thick bush and shade. Very few people. Very quite. But be sure wearing long sleeve long pants coz lots of ticks are ready for landing on you (actually one had successfully landed on me)

Lower Haw River State Natural Area protects a section of the Haw River from US-15/501 in Bynum south to Jordan Lake. As a natural area, it is less developed than a park and as such there are few amenities besides parking at the trailheads. The north trailhead is in Bynum off Bynum Church Road and the south trailhead is along US-64 eastbound, just east of the bridge over Haw River. A four mile along the east bank of the river connects the two. It is not an official trail, so it's not maintained. And there are a lot of beavers in the area, so many trees across the trail. But its easy to follow and a beautiful trail that stays right alongside the river. We only saw a couple other people on our hike and we were here for about four hours. Three tributaries flow into Haw River and you'll have to go upstream a bit to cross. Pokeberry Creek, the northernmost of the three, has the most water and is the most difficult to cross. Overall, a great hidden gem for hiking and nature and I definitely plan to come back again.

One of the best short out and backs in the area. Pedestrian bridge has good views and interesting graffiti art.

Love this place. It's rarely crowded, though there is evidence it's a popular spot; trash mainly. Popular with kayakers, fisherpeople and hikers, I've seen bald eagles, herons and other birds, racoon and deer tracks andv numerous flowers and flowering trees. I love this park for its accessibility.
