This is truly an up and close encounter with nature.

Be very very careful, the snakes were out and sent us running ( I was not expecting them be that close) I am glad my son spotted the snake and I was looking up and taking pictures of the trees.

This is truly a beautiful and fun experience... I must say.

No guide it is a self guided walk
Bring your bug spray, camera, smile and sun block have fun and create memories with your family. It is so worth it.

Had a 30 minute movie I recommend watching in movie theater 1st - tells about the lives in the region. Very educational~ Cost was $6.00 a person (we were given a discount for our group 😁) Amazing staff and so friendly! Also recommend walking Nature Trail right behind Museum - we saw at least 6 alligators.

Awesome place to get away from the city and the crowds and when we were here, there was only one other couple I saw with their child the entire time. The water level was about six inches from the boardwalk and a little flooded over in one tiny little section but easy to get by with some careful walking. I was hoping to see a gator or two, but didn't while I was here.

I walked around the wetlands trace as the museum was closed when I was there. A beautiful hike in the winter. Do not hike there in the summer due to the abundance of biting flies and mosquitoes.

Nice wooden boardwalk hike. It is just under a mile to make the loop which goes through swamp with Spanish moss covered trees. Lots of dragonflies on a mid June afternoon. Also some biting flies in a couple of places. Nice lagoon with picnic tables under shady trees.
The folks at the museum were super friendly. The museum accepts cash and check only, no credit card accepted.

Just hiked on the trail. Didn't go into the museum. The trail was short but cute. Saw a gator! If you're looking for a free solution to a swamp tour this could be it. You might not see a gator though if that's what you're hoping for but you might.

Was pleasantly surprised by this park. Very peaceful and enjoyable walk across about a 1.6 mile boardwalk through the swamp. Smalln pond in the middle with picnic tables. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

Beautiful nature trail and raised wooden pathway through the swamp. Meander through cypress trees covered in Spanish moss, amidst the calls of birds and alligators. There are plenty of benches under covered pavilions interspersed throughout this serene natural course. If you find yourself in Jean Lafitte, make sure not to leave without experiencing this wonderful insight into the swamp.
