Cork and Glass

Last week I was visiting my sister in Georgia from Portland, OR, and she told me I just HAD to go with her to visit her favorite new place for wine tastings: Cork and Glass. This is a lovely new wine shop that is owned by Pepe, the son of Antonio and Maria who own Casa Nuova, the amazing Italian restaurant next door (see my separate review for details).

We visited on a Saturday afternoon, around 4:00, before our dinner reservations next door, for some wine tastings. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how beautifully everything was arranged and decorated. There is a long tasting table located in the middle of the room, with plenty of space on all sides to walk and mingle around without having to stand too close to anyone else, so I felt very safe and comfortable. Also, all of the employees were masked up at all times which I found very respectful and was much appreciated.

Their wine selection is quite diverse, from a variety of regions, and with bottles ranging anywhere from $10 up to $500+. I was personally very impressed to see so many options from the Willamette Valley region in Oregon. They also have a large selection of micro brews and ciders for purchase. I was taken aback by how much knowledge Pepe had about every winery I brought up from back home. Even some of the smaller ones that not many people outside of Oregon have heard of. He even taught me about a few up and coming wineries in my area that I hadn’t even heard of yet that I will definitely check out now that I am back in Portland. So if you are looking for someone with a depth of knowledge about wines from many regions that can steer you in the right direction, Pepe is definitely your guy.

They also offer several monthly wine memberships. I do not know what all of the different levels or prices are, but my sister and her husband are both part of the Founder’s Club, which features a variety of perks that currently include two free bottles of wine per month, unlimited tastings, 15% off all store purchases, and one free appetizer each month at Casa Nuova next door.

Overall opinion: Cork and Glass is a 5-star wine shop and tasting room that is well worth your time to stop by for a visit. And make sure you take a moment to talk to Pepe; he will hook you up with exactly what you need.

I am so happy the Cork and Glass opened. The price are competitive with Costco but no lines. The wine selection is very good. The staff is very customer focused. Pepe takes his time to explain each wine. The Wine Tastings are fun. They made a special gift box for me. Once you go visit you will go back.

I am a proud Founder of Cork & Glass. I drive out of my way on a regular basis to come shop with Pepe and his team. They are super knowledgeable and treat you like family. Great atmosphere, helpful staff, and fun events. Pepe has cultivated a vast selection of products that appeals to many palettes. We enjoy stopping in for a tasting or anticipating our selection for the monthly wine club membership.

This is a fantastic place to not only purchase wine but they also have wine tastings and wine dinners with different wineries from all over. The owner Pepe is extremely knowledgeable in the products they sell. It’s a very pleasant atmosphere and the pricing is on par with the bigger stores too. Can’t say enough good things about the owner and this store.

Pepe has an awesome concept for a wine store here! Lots of very good wines you don’t see in your everyday shop at extremely good prices! Plus the guys working in there are extremely knowledgable to get you exactly what your looking for! If you like wine or drinking in general you should stop in and talk with them for awhile! You will thank me afterwards!!

The owner, Pepe, was the first person in a wine shop I had that actually took the time and recommended several bottles of wine to me of which I chose two and loved them both. Also very reasonable pricing. I even signed up for his wine club!

Pepe is quite the expert sommelier! Customer service is top notch. Friendly and fun tastings. Selection and prices are unmatched.

Stopped in today with friends... what a WONDERFUL experience! Tasted some great wines, found some great wines for great prices. Highly recommend stopping by and enjoy the great wines and friendly staff!

Love this place because I can order my wine online and pull up and they'll bring it out to my car. Its a really helpful thing that they offer especially if you have kids. They make life easier!
