The historic old Dixie highway was a really cool experience. The road is lined with bricks manufactured by a few different companies from the time period. The road is covered with soft sand at times which makes it difficult for two wheeled vehicles traveling the long road. A sign at the entrance states to drive at your own risk ⚠. Definitely worth the time to learn about this section of florida history.

Not a bad drive if you go slow

Also known as the Old Brick Road. A fascinating, historical drive through rural Flagler County. The road is very bumpy in spots, so don’t plan on “rushing along” at 15 mph, but with patience it is easily driven by car in dry weather.

Enjoy it now PALM COST IS SET TO DESTROY IT. yep these money hungry commissioners and allowing more development with no thought to preservation of a historical site. Yet another Beautiful place destroyed.

Historic brick road near US1 and Bunnell. 9 miles, interesting to see off the beaten path!

We loved this drive! We drove it in my wifes Honda crv and it did fine. Its pretty secluded. The only people we saw were hunters.

Very cool old rd. Stay in the middle to avoid soft sugar sand on sides. 4x4 helps but not necessary.

Would not suggest going over the jumps at over 70mph but a great shortcut

Took my K1600 bagger down by mistake, seeing signs that just said Old Dixie Highway. Great views but a little sketchy in places on a big motorcycle due to sand and mud and not knowing where it was going. I'd be OK to do it again, but better on a dual sport or car. 4 wheel drive not necessary for cars. Nice diversion.

A great trip back through time. A lot of the brick road is overrun with dirt and such because it's still part of an active access system, but it's definitely worth a slow drive.
Mind the bumps though, it definitely needs a good hour reserved for slow speeds and taking some pictures.

Careful using Google to enter from I-95, Google Maps ran us back into private hunting roads. Use the entrances (North at CR-204/Old Brick Rd) or (South at CR-13/CR-205)

Super cool road! However, it is not well suited for any vehicle that is not designed to go off road, even though it is possible in a Civic! I proved it! Ha! However I would proceed with caution. It might look easy! But, between the sugar sand, the washouts and the washboards it is not a pleasant experience. (Ask my wife’s Civic) If you aren’t driving something designed for off pavement use save yourself the trouble and park where it turns to brick, walk in a few yards, take some pictures of the bricks, and turn around. If you want to go Jeeping, it’s easy as pie! Have fun and enjoy!
