Chittenango Falls State Park

We visited the Chittenango falls on a holiday weekend but it wasn't too crowded, which was awesome! The falls are really pretty, open for viewing till sunset and a side view is visible at a slight walking distance from the parking lot (We paid $5 for parking).
But if you want the front view, be ready to walk down and then up some stairs and some rugged pathways to reach the bridge that faces the falls. If you prefer fewer stairs, the path at the opposite end of the parking lot is the one to take, but it is an equally steep climb, mind you! You can even dip your legs in the water below the bridge, but the rocks there are sharp and slightly slippery!
Overall, it was a very pretty waterfall and a fun 0.5 mile trail to get to it! The green lakes state park is just 15 minutes away and it is worth a visit as well.

Chittenango Falls State Park is a small park with a big waterfall! The trail to the waterfall is well marked and found near the parking lot. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and be careful because it can be steep. The trail goes down one side of the waterfall and takes you to a bridge in front of the waterfall. The bridge is the best spot for pictures of the falls. After you cross the bridge the path goes up the other side of the waterfall and goes up stream from there. The trail is not very long, but it does provide much scenery.
There are some other hiking trails in the park. None of them appeared to be very difficult, but they do provide a nice walk in the woods. There are also picnic areas, restrooms, and a baseball field.
There is an entry fee to get into the park. If you have an Empire Pass this will cover your fee. No camping is allowed.
A great place to spend a few hours!

This State Park is a beautiful location to explore with amazing waterfall views. The Town is roughly 20 minutes away with a yellow brick paved sidewalk.

It’s a pretty cool area. Highly recommend it’s like a lower key New York State Park not a lot of people. There’s also Chittenango right down the road and that’s a pretty cool town. If you’re visiting cool place to eat there’s nice gazebos there’s some trails to hike. There’s lots of fishing access down the Chittenango river. Caz is also pretty cool place if you’re visiting.

Lovely small state park that is very well maintained and perfect for a picnic. The day use rate is just $5 per car. The hike down to the creek with awesome views of the beautiful double waterfall is easy. I showed pictures to a friend who thought they had to be created by AI.

Chittenango falls State Park is beautiful. Different points to see The falls before and after the falls. 2 / view is spectacular! It's a steep walk and a little rocky but not too bad at all. There are restrooms and plenty of places for a picnic. It's well worth the time to seek out this little spot of beauty.

Took my grandson for his first visit. After having a picnic and playing on the playground, we walked down to the bottom so he could see the waterfall. He loved it!! Always enjoy visiting this park.

Great for hiking, although the trail is steep and has lots of stairs. The view is worth it though! Definitely would recommend!

Beautiful little state park with nice trails and a very nice waterfall

After parking you can walk down a paved trail to a beautiful overlook of the falls. This short, paved, walk makes it accessible for all ages and disability's. The overlook is fenced off for safety to allow optimal viewing of the drop-off into the gorge as it's surrounded by beautiful landscape (especially in the Fall). There is also a pavilion and playground for families to settle in and enjoy their time visiting.

I visited Chittenango Falls State Park for the first time just this month of October 2022, and I could not believe the beauty of it during the Fall season, it was like a wonderland. My husband and I loved walking and gazing at the beautiful trees and walking trails, and watching the Falls. This is a beautiful place for the family to come for a picnic and walking. It would be a great place for wedding pictures too! We will be coming back, no doubt!

If you want 45 minutes of nature, take the short hike around the falls. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. Truly a natural gem.

Went in and was there alone on a Thursday afternoon. Very beautiful and nice hiking trails. Too bad we can't go in the water. Restrooms were closed, but picnic and parking area were opened. There was construction, so perhaps they will reopen soon.

Gorgeous falls! The gorge path around is short and rocky but very manageable and provides the best views. There are less defined paths up above the falls as well.

This was an experience unlike any other. We traveled the Gorge Trail to get to the waterfall. Once there the atmosphere was inviting and calming. The sky looked as if it was painted and for a moment it felt as if the world around us paused. It’s the perfect place to release any doubts and fears into the universe and take in all the positivity and abundance the world has to offer ✨

Always a wonderful place to visit. Water was really flowing over the falls. Light snow morning of our trip, made the climb down to the bridge little tricky. The trails are well maintained.

It was amazing. Watching the water roll down the stream right before the waterfall was beautiful. The water is freezing cold and you can get very close to the water so you should be careful if you have really small children. While in the park it doesnt have the best view of the waterfall so take pics of the waterfall right before getting to the park.
