Squirrel Cage Tavern

A local bar, one owner, and I just like stepping back in time when I go there, no rush, local people, small conversation. I love supporting local places! No food, but he has take out menus there, he has bags of snacks hanging, nuts, chips, beef jerky.

Stumbled upon this place after arriving into town late- great drinks, and bartender was very nice! Pizza smelled very good too 🐿 ❤

Great lil spot, like a dive bar.. But let you tell you all this,, The Cleanest Bathrooms I have ever seen in a dive bar.

Terrific hole in the wall bar off Maple and 53. Good margaritas, price and service! I'm in the area every couple years visiting family and always end up here at night.

My kind of bar! Friendly place, perfect to kick back and have a few drinks with family and friends. Couldn't ask for nicer people. Laddie and Steve especially. My son and I will definitely be back.

Great environment of people without all the facades of your typical meat market bars. They have a fun Trivia Night, darts, music, and fantastic accommodating owners. But, really don't want to give this secret away to the pretentious ones. 😉

Quite possibly the best dive bar in the burbs. Rivals the old "Cal's Liquors" from downtown Chicago...with one important difference..clean bathrooms. Tell Steve I sent ya!!

The Squirrel Cage Tavern has been in business in Lisle for a long time. The building is historical with many good memories. It is family friendly. I am so glad it is still in business. Try it & enjoy it like I do.

Bar tender was nice and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and seems to attract a nice crowd of people. Good deals on pitchers on Tuesdays.

This tavern is unsuspecting from the outside. No sign telling you it’s the Squirrel Cage Tavern only a Pabst sign. Nice “u” shaped bar with great selections of beer and wine. Only second time visiting and only for trivia night on Tuesday starting at 8. Trivia is free, winners get prizes but not sure of the prizes because my group has never won. There are drink specials on trivia night so have cash on hand b/c they don’t do credit cards. There is an ATM. There is no specific signs indicating wheelchair accessible but you should be able to get through the door. I don’t think the bathrooms are ADA formate but call and ask if an issue. Squirrel Cage Tavern is a great little place to meet up with friends and have few drinks.

Always a good time at the squirrel cage. Super nice bartender, fine beer selection, and mixed drinks made right before your eyes. Once you find it, you'll want to return.
