Carl said the car I was interested in was "all good." He did fix the brakes and change the radio for me on it. However, before purchase I took the car to a nearby auto repair garage for a road test b/c I'd heard an odd sound upon accelerating. The mechanic said, "I don't hear a problem." So I bought it. Turned out to need a transmission gear for $750. And it turned out that the garage was the one Carl used for work on his vehicles for sale (Superior Auto). I should have taken it elsewhere! They're not in business anymore, so maybe not so superior! I asked both Carl and Superior Auto to share a bit of the repair cost with me but neither would do so. Had Carl offered even $100, I'd feel much better about buying another car from him. Since then though, the car has performed well.
