TJ's Burritos

A friend of mine works here and has been inviting me to come check them out! Today is that day so here's how it went! There was also a Yelp Elite Event here that I was about 4 weeks late for, so I came with some other folks who also missed the event! Lol.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set out in East Granby, CT is this gem that lies within a lil' strip mall. The outside does this place no justice, but I'm sure if they had their own standalone building it would be done-up. Anyway, INSIDE is where all the fun is! There's so much going on no matter where you look. Once inside you can walk up to a counter to order fresh ground coffee in or some of their other baked goods. Off to the left of that is the kitchen and instructions on how to order your burrito if you want one of those. On the left side of the restaurant is a small stage for when they host live music! And finally, toward the back we have the big wrap-around bar. It was so lively and energetic here on a Friday afternoon.

Service: Everything was excellent. I had no complaints and didn't want for anything.

Food: The complimentary chips and salsa were very good. The salsa was super fresh and bursting with flavors. The chips were thick, crunchy and also tasted fresh. One of the funniest things about the restaurant is the amount of menus you're given when you first sit down. Lol. I received 4, one for flights, one for beer, one for happy hour and their menu of the season. It was a lot to look through, but if you have an idea of what you're looking for or have a taste for then it'll help with decision making. The margaritas I had were all a bit sweet, so I advise adding an extra shot to each one that you get. So for my entree I HAD to get a burrito. They offer several different kinds of wraps and I went with the keto wrap to up my fiber. I also added smoked chicken and carne asada as proteins. Then I added lettuce, tomato, poblano peppers and sauteed onions. It doesn't come with a side, so make sure to get one if you're really hungry, but the chips & salsa can cover that for you. The burrito was delightful. So I did get chicken and steak, but the proteins were on opposite sides of the burrito, making eating it easier and less confusing on the flavors. I loved how this was done.

Value: It's mid-class Mexican food so it won't break the bank. $20.00 can satisfy you here, but if you're a drinker, you're going to need a bit more. Lol.

In conclusion, I loved it here and this place felt so unique. It felt like one-of-a-kind and not like a cookie-cutter restaurant. You know what I'm talking about. I look forward to returning here, even though it's a bit out the way.

Yummy place to try. We got in pretty quickly around 1130am for lunch. Our table was a bit dirty and it took 20 minutes to get our check (I had to go up to the register and request to pay there) but the food was very good ans the staff was nice!

OMG! The birria tacos are the best I've ever had! This is a cool little place that could be easily overlooked if you didn't know about it. The service was pretty slow, but we arrived at peak time on a Friday. All the bartenders and waitstaff were hustling. It was definitely worth the wait and long drive to get there.

12.13.23 What a great little venue. Lots of free parking as this is in a little plaza. The food is amazing.The atmosphere is very chill, comfy, and casual. We didn't have a chance to try any of the "flights" but will be coming back to do some of those. My grilled shrimp tacos were perfect and the salsa was so good that I bought some to bring home.

I stopped in for dinner and was able to walk in and sit down on a Saturday night. The place is very tastefully decorated with a modern vibe. I ordered the bucket of beers(4) and 3 barria tacos combo. The taco were good. The table decided to get an order of the macho nachos, which was HUGE! I recommend stopping in. Lots of food and cocktail choices.

this is one of the bessssttttt places i’ve been in awhile! so cute inside and a perfect amount of menu options. this place has a giant cocktail, mocktail, and coffee menu, as interesting as that combo sounds, and specializes in flights. they have anything from margarita flights to latte flights, and have festive holiday ones as well - you just have to ask and/or stay up to date on their social media. there’s a bar inside and some tables for seating, and sometimes there’s live music. we went for dinner on a friday night so there were a ton of people and a short wait. you can order online using a QR code menu or using a waiter, but their service will be ridiculously speedy regardless of what you pick. the soft street tacos were absolutely delicious and their queso, guac and salsas are all great. i cannot wait to go back and try other items. you can get corn or flour tortilla chips and they can prepare a lot of items gluten free. additionally, a lot of cocktails can be made without alcohol, making this a great spot for a fun night out!!

Went with friends. This was super fun with a cool staff and great service. Food was prepared quickly with great attention to taste, style, and order accuracy. Our group of 10 ordered all sorts of stuff, we had separate checks - no errors on the food prep nor on the checkout (which was totally paperless and at the table). This placed rocked, literally! The band was playing Saturday early evening. We are outside. Drinks were prepared to perfection.

Was amazing as a first time Intro to Authentic Mexican Food , Staff was extremely friendly and helped Explain the different meats To someone who didn’t understand The spices and different cuts. A+ for effort. The Birria tacos were on point. The margarita flight was also a fun addition to our table Everyone loved it.

So I came here about a year ago. The place was about 1/3 the size. My girl said “let’s try this new burrito place!” I was like we have been there, it was just ok. Little did I know how much they have upgraded since we first went! We walked in and it’s a whole new restaurant now! Full bar, tons of seating, and PACKED on a Monday lunch. Really beautiful. Super chill vibes. All employees were hard at work. The fajitas were hot and delicious, the steak was fresh. We also got a coffee flight. It is made using Girl Scout cookies! So unique! They are very digital, so be prepared to order online, I have no issue with that. I like it. If you want, they will take care of you table side for ordering though. A very elevated place. They are doing well and will continue to do well I’m sure. Thanks for lunch!

An absolutely amazing place. The food was delivered so fast and the quality was top notch. I couldn’t believe their business design on how you order your food. It was so efficient I was speechless. Only order as soon as you’re ready to receive what you ordered because it’s that fast. It was also pretty busy, so the speed was that much more remarkable. I would give a 10/10 of quality, taste and effectiveness. A MUST HIT SPOT if in town for a short amount of time. Also, affordable. Which is hard to come buy these days for the quality and atmosphere here. There’s nothing I wouldn’t recommend here!!!!!

Came for dinner the other night and I’m ready to take on the hard lemonade flight all over again! They offer margarita, mimosa, and coffee flights, all of which I thought were really unique. While you’re sipping on your drinks, start off with an app of their queso flameado for some cheesy goodness, you won’t regret it! For our meal, we shared some carne asada street tacos off the tapas section of the menu, and I just had to try their Crispy “Dorito” Chicken Sandwich! The cheddar fried chicken was delicious, and the avocado crema made for a great flavor combination. Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a burrito! We made ours with carne asada, Monterey Jack, cilantro basmati rice, cumin stewed black beans, queso, and sautéed peppers and onions. It’s not too often that we have burritos, so TJ’s really hit the spot! Not only do they serve great Mexican food here, but their desserts are amazing too. It was National S’mores Day when we went, and one of the first things that caught our eye when we walked in was the s’mores cake sitting in the case. We split a slice and had some chocolate stuffed churros too! Honestly, we were blown away by how great everything was here. This was our first time visiting a restaurant in the Granby area, and TJ’s was certainly worth the drive!

Stopped in for dinner hoping to find a good local place for burritos and I'm happy I did. We had a great meal and enjoyed a very nice chat with the friendly and enthusiastic owner. Everyone was very nice. I had a chicken burrito with grilled peppers and onions. It was perfectly seasoned and very quickly served. My wife had fish tacos which she said were good. The prices are fair and the meal came with chips. The atmosphere is casual and there is some seating. They are also set up well for efficient take-out. I'll be back to try the Cubano sandwich I saw on the menu. UPDATE.... Tried the Cubano. It was excellent. I'll be back for another in the interest of science.

Such great atmosphere... outdoor seating with bonfire ... flights are a must have.. both margarita flights and coffee flights were so delicious!
Update: Expanded indoor seating, no outdoor seating at the moment, and possibly will have outdoor seating during spring or summer. Fast & simple service

I went here for lunch, checking out their tacos. No ala carte but plenty of very fresh ingredients. There is something very wholesome about this restaurant. There's a local fresh produce market right in the restaurant. This place has it all. Ground beef available and all of the fat has been drained, unlike the last 5 taco restaurants I reviewed. Hard to find anything negative about this restaurant. I had a ground beef taco, a pulled pork taco, and a Korean short rib taco (+$6). You pick the toppings, awesome twist. Homemade Habanero sauce and milder Verde sauce, plus hot sauce at the table. I am forced to give this freshest of the taco restaurants I've reviewed in the past anything but 5 🌟's check it out and tell me if you agree. My next review is their nachos, I got them with ground beef, pork, pico and sour cream to go, very very awesome!!!

First visit today to have brunch. It was busy and we had to wait for a table but the environment is so entertaining and the music is killer! We didn't mind the wait at all. The coffee flight was fun and pretty tasty. I have the breakfast burrito bowl with chorizo and all the fillings...YUM! Everyone enjoyed their meals. I'll be back to try lunch/dinner for sure!

my husband and I stopped by for dinner with a friend. we sat outside because we had our dog with us and it was great. Service & food were great. No issues with my dog...people even came out to see her and take pictures. I love it when I find a place that I can bring her and people love her...she's a 170lb corso full of love...thank you so much

Had the most delicious meal and drinks. Nacho plate is to die for. Mango strawberry margarita was the most delicious margarita I've ever had. I really love the ordering system. You use your phone camera to scan QR code and order that way. Food comes out super fast. Checking out is so simple. You just settle your bill and go. Will definitely be back often. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

The food and drinks were excellent - the best we’ve had in the Connecticut area. The margarita flight was very good, and we both enjoyed the dip platter, loaded nachos and burritos. The atmosphere really added a nice touch; the decorations and vibe were very enjoyable.

The most disappointing part of our experience was the service - it was subpar. We waited a very long time to have dishes cleared, drinks replenished, and very little personality.

Big shoutout to Jen though, who was not primarily waiting on us to start, but delivered stellar service to us every opportunity she had. We plan to ask for her if we decide to visit again.

I love this place. Food is great the coffee is great and the staff Is so nice. Love their coffee flights. You can tell them put a lot of love into the place.
