The Door

Filling the void left by the closing of Ear Wax records, this is a record store specifically geared towards metal and punk fans. Great selection, reasonable prices and a knowledgeable staff, make The Door worth checking out.

Gosh. I love The Door. Always a superb selection for those that lean towards heavier listening; hardcore, punk, metal. Etc. Some other offerings as well, really something for everyone. Just started stocking vintage band tees as well at very reasonable prices to boot. Shop owner is always courteous to the nth degree and is always down to chat tunes. Can't recommend this place enough.

Owner was the friendliest dude, the girl behind the clubs was incredibly personable and awesome. I LOVE THIS SHOP!!!! The music selection was fantastic, little bit of everything, with a really nice focus on metal. Not enough punk, but that's just how it goes. I can't speak highly enough of how kind and readily helpful they made themselves. No sense of gate-keeping, no unwelcome vibes. They get all the gold stars!! ❤❤❤

My favorite new underground record store. If it's punk or metal, it's probably there. Good selection of new and used vinyl and cassettes for the discerning listener. Owner is knowledgeable and friendly.

Great little shop for metal and punk vinyl and CDs. Nice tiny selection of other used vinyl. Friendly owner will order anything he doesn't have in store for you. Great place for treasure hunting and I always end up buying more than I expected!

This Metal Merchant is contributing greatly to the Metal scene in Madison. He knows everything about upcoming metal shows and sometimes has free ticket. And a toybox to keep the kid busy when I am vinyl shopping. I call this the "fish in a barrel" store because I always find something I like. 666 stars!!!

This was the coolest record store I’ve ever seen. The selection of metal records had highlights from most subgenres, new and old. The owner was nice, helpful, and seemed to enjoy the work. There was a B-52s sticker on the wall outside. I loved this place.

A breath of fresh air as far as Madison area record stores go. There's a focus on punk and metal records, but they have a well-curated selection of all genres including jazz, blues and classic rock. He sells CDs, cassettes, DVD/blu-rays, shirts and other knickknacks too. Prices are *very fair*, and the proprietor is friendly, and clearly has a passion for music collecting. Bought tons of good stuff my first visit, I'll definitely be back.

Just found this place. Looks intimidating, but everyone was really nice and welcoming. Great place to find older bands (Danzig, Blood Sucking Zombies from Outer Space, ect) they don't carry in main stores

Hidden treasure of vinyl. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. It is small, but great selection of new and used records. Always seem to find something when I visit.

Great selection, I would say the best metal selection in all of Madison. Owner is super friendly, great conversations, knows his craft. Will be back.

Hard to find but worth the slow drive down the parking lot to find it. Owner is friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is good. And looks to be ever changing. Records, cds, tapes, dvds/blu-rays, vhs tapes, memorabilia--tons of stuff is a small space. Good prices too.
