When I lived in Mt Horeb, this was my favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. A small town diner with a bakery, everything made fresh, traditional/unchanged appearance, all the great breakfast favorites. Schubert's has been around in one formation or another since the early 1900s.

Originally it was a Norwegian bakery, and they still have some Norwegian menu items. The new owners are Hispanic, and have also added some Mexican menu items. At my most recent visit I tried the Mexican Haystack which was a hash brown scrambler with beans and salsa. My friend had the Reuben which came on a fresh made Pretzel roll.

Everything is still made fresh. Some items are more bland than others, to accommodate small town palates.

My only complaint is that they close too early!a

The food was delicious and I had never tried crepes before. Even the employees were very polite and professional. Definitely worth the trip and money well spent.

Food was delicious! Recommend having a cream puff when you visit. These things are works of beauty!

Just got back from a delicious breakfast at the historic diner in town (Schubert's)!! The food is amazing and our service was exceptional. Our food came out quicker than expected and portion sizes were plenty!

The place is always filled with happy families and a comforting atomsphere with Jerry in the front of the house! We always love seeing his smiling face :)

I strongly recommend enjoying your next breakfast at Schubert's!

Sooo good! We only make it there once a year when we travel through Wisconsin, but it is always dependably great food, excellent coffee, and friendly service. Be sure to order the 13 grain toast... or any of their baked goods... they're made in-house from scratch and delicious!! Thank you, Misti, for your good service!

Great little diner! Out family popped in for a quick breakfast, and we were very happy. Great food, good prices. Had w not been so full, we would've grabbed some bakery to go.

I worked here in high school and I was a little afraid to visit again, honestly, because when I worked here it was a little... Icky. But imagine my surprise when I met the new crew! It's under new ownership now and they've got the place cleaned up better than I ever managed to. And some super creative and delicious additions to the menu- while still keeping up the tradition of the rosettes

Best breakfasts place I’ve been to in Mt. Horeb. It gets crazy busy during times, but they manage to work around and greet guests right away. Love their lunch sandwiches, and the coffee is AMAZING. Would definitely recommend stopping by this diner.

Step back in time at this downtown landmark, and enjoy fine hospitality along with wonderful food. Hash browns are crispy on the outside, steamy and tender on the inside. Corned beef hash is hand made, and the Rosettes are irresistible. Seriously, do not resist.

Talk about going the extra mile: Schubert's went the extra 21.6 miles above and beyond this past weekend! Our family took a pilgrimage to pick up two pre-ordered pecan pies on Saturday. We enjoyed flavorful coffees and delicate rosettes dusted with powdered sugar while waiting for the pies. Alas, some ingredients needed for this special order arrived late, so we agreed to return in an hour when the pies were ready. We were informed on our return that the centers were still far too moist, so Chef Antonio offered to have his son, a UW-Madison student, meet us at the Psyschology building where our son was finishing an exam. True to their word, the boxed pies were delivered to the agreed-upon location some 21 miles away, still oven warm! Once we arrived back home in Germantown, the pies were prize-winning in flavor, appearance and aroma. Thank you, Schubert's. We are all still smiling at your superior customer service!

Cute, historical spot. Better than average diner food. Adds to the vibrant downtown of Mt. Horeb. We drove out from Madison for breakfast.
