I've driven by this place for years but never stopped in until my last trip back home to Wisconsin. The place is small and quaint with lots of artwork along with a gallery. They have a nice coffee selection and some breakfast food items and baked goods as well. They do different events throughout the week featuring different food options as well. Everything we had here was delicious and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Cottage Grove.

Neat little place. I'm not a coffee drinker but my wife said it was good. My iced tea was fine. We got a few goodies and everything was good. A little "heavy" on the crust for the square pie but maybe it's just me. Super friendly folks too. :)

Incredible service and such a cozy, unique atmosphere! We were greeted with a warm welcome at the door by the owner. We unknowingly came at closing time and they insisted to still whip us up some lattes. The baked goods looks delicious as well. We will most definitely be back!

This place was amazing. And that is an understatement. The food was spectacular, but even better than that was the people. David, Peyton, and the mother who name I forget (my apologies) were so friendly and inviting that I am already planning my next trip. The coffee was superb and the eagles were perfect. David came by or tablet and chatted with us. Will be back as soon as possible.

I love this place! It has a wonderful, laid-back atmosphere. The people who work here are super friendly and helpful every time I've been here. I usually stop for coffee and a scone, but I finally had their fresh, homemade savory crepes on Saturday morning. I will have to go back another Saturday to try the sweet version, as well as a Friday night for the live music. ... It's just off I-94, Exit 244, and so worth the stop!

We stopped here on a whim for a quick cup of coffee. I was floored at first, the building itself is so cool and historic! And inside, the decorations and setup are very creative and comforting. The coffee itself was tasty and so are the pastries. The man behind the counter was so incredibly kind and gave great suggestions. Come here if you have the chance, you wont regret it!

A rare gem of a coffee shop. This place quite literally has it all. The service is top notch. They go out of there way to talk to you and genuinely show interest in you. The coffee, fantastic. Best I’ve had in Madison area since moving to the area 4 years ago. The food, terrific. I’ve had their scones and breakfast sandwiches and both had me wanting more. Lastly, the vibe here is truly wonderful. Feels like you’re stepping into a museum but where you get to hang out and drink lattes. They also have outdoor eating and life concerts in the warmer months. Go out of your way to come here. Make a date out of it. Whatever it takes. You won’t be disappointed!

Pulled off 94 for gas and saw this while heading there. Convinced the fella to stop and I'm glad I did! Good coffee, a few gluten free treats (along with a ton of straight ones)and awesome energy. Service was quick, perfect for an on the go cup of coffee. I told him we need to stop there every time we come through. Love the building, colorful nostalgia all in one.

I love this café's cozy, creative atmosphere. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the deck. They occasionally feature live musicians. The inside of SchoolGrounds has hardwood and warm paint tones. The walls feature works from a number of artists and craftsmen.

The staff are so friendly. They'll ask about your day and often offer you samples of new recipes. I stopped by yesterday and found out they were debuting all-day waffles. I got to try out a waffle with brown sugar mixed into the batter. It was so tasty.

Found this place on our way to Madison. We were going to stop at the gas station for coffe, but happened to spot this instead. Ordered a mocha at the last second before they closed and the staff was very upbeat and kind. Thought we came in late. They did not seem to be bothered. We took a quick walk through the place check out the variety of artwork. All of it was impressive and I LOVE the little balcony area.

We recently held a private event birthday party at the School Grounds and highly recommend it for such gatherings. It comfortably held our small group of 20, but could easily accommodate twice that number (or more) by using the upstairs space or, in good weather, expanding to the outside deck seating. David was excellent in helping develop our menu choices of finger foods and cupcakes, everything made in-house, and everything of top-quality. Ben arranged our personally-selected music choices as well as a continuously running photo show on a flat screen TV. He also was our bartender/drink meister, and always with his sparkling and witty good humor. Our guests all had nothing but praise for the location, food, and staff. We often eat Sunday breakfast here and the food and beverages are always great and the people friendly and competent.

The espresso is good! It really smooth; not burnt. The service is fantastic and baristas are friendly and fast. DEFINITELY buy a scone while you're here! They are all well made, but I'd skip the pumpkin one. I couldn't taste any pumpkin in it. My son, who never likes anything to drink but water and Gatorade, really enjoyed their chai tea with a flavor shot of vanilla and their ginger snap cookie.

I’m new to the area and decided to give this place a visit and I am SO happy I did. Excellent coffee and the scones were the best I’ve ever had. The owner and his son were super friendly and made you feel welcome. Definitely will be a regular stop for me.

Stone Grounds Coffee Shop has always been a favorite of ours. Food is great, bakery is amazing and the service is always prompt and the place is very clean. They've got a beautiful deck when the weather warms up, and they even have music on the weekends when the weather is nice. Definitely a 5!

They have awesome crepes on Saturday and delicious waffles on Sunday. The Double Dutch Mocha is the best! The staff is very friendly and the owner, Dave, came to our table and introduced himself. The building has great vibes too!

Dropped in this morning and was greeted by who I assume is the owner. Super friendly guy who told me about the events and specials this weekend. Very impressed by him and the staff. Coffee was excellent and scone was also great. Highly recommend!

Really cool coffee shop. Have wanted to stop here for years, so not sure why I didn't stop sooner. Nice bright atmosphere and good coffee. Beautiful building and nice porch when the weather permits too. Wish the hours were later into the day, but understandable. Will definitely be back!

I look forward to my coffee refuel and break from the road at School Grounds on my weekly travels between Madison and northern IL.The coffee is wonderful, the food is delicious, the ambience is peaceful, and the baristas are friendly, as well as genuine. I feel the love put into their work. The venue also provides exposure for local artists and gives the patron visual appreciation along with joy to the pallete! Thank you for being where you are! ❤

Not only do they have wonderful coffee but amazing service as well. I had a flat tire and not one but two associates came out to help me in the 40° weather. I can't thank them enough for their assistance. I would recommend this place to anyone.
