Rotunda Cafe

Love this place! Lots of seating, plus several small rooms that can be booked for free for meetings, including one specifically set up for podcast recording! Great selection of drinks and locally made baked goods, including the incredible vegan Level 5 donuts.

I love the idea of making full use of a classic, lovely bank building by adding other services! Other cities should learn from this!
When our vacation plans in Madison were challenged by surprise cold and snow, this was a refuge. This "dining space" was spacious and attractive. We had a leisurely breakfast of breakfast burritos with hot beverages and wished we had brought a board game. We browsed through a couple books while our son took a video conference call in a vacant adjacent room. I hope more community groups and remote workers will use these rooms. How creative to also offer a recording studio space for vloggers and musicians! Stylish, clean, non-gender-specific bathrooms, too. Our son enjoyed chatting with the barista about mass transit, something Madison does well. In this walkable neighborhood, this space is an oasis with lots of potential.

They don't really have food anymore, although they do have snacks, like nuts, chips and oatmeal. But if you're looking for a place to get some work done and you want a nice coffee drink or two while you do it, this is a great spot.

They have big, wide tables, actually comfortable chairs for working, electrical outlets by the walls, clean, attractive rest rooms, smaller rooms off to the side that you can reserve (or, if nobody else has reserved, just hang out in if you need auditory privacy), and it's sunny and beautiful.

It's a big enough space that if you need to bring in your own food or sandwich, it's not awkward--I've done that, and for now while they're not serving food, the barista was fine with it. I wish they were open a little later, and on Sundays! You can generally stay in the space after the coffee shop closes, until the bank area in the back closes--usually until 5.

Love the partnership shown between Chip and Mel. The rotunda provides an excellent experience for the audiophile, IMHO.

I had a really nice time here this morning. This was my first time inside after passing by here often. The two staff members at the bar were very kind and welcoming. I had a nice mocha and sandwich. The place was clean and beautiful on a sunny morning. Great seating, and there are community rooms and conference rooms available too. I’m really glad I stopped in and I’m excited to go back!

Wherever Pauls Pelmeni goes I will follow. Great tranformation of a beautiful bank rotunda. Work very close by and was pumped to have a good local coffee shop so close. The dumplings are simple and perfect, probably a top 10 meal of mine that I will enjoy until the end of days

This is an amazing business! The coffee is good, espresso is good, bakery is good, AND they serve breakfast and lunch? If you have cash, they also have self-serve coffee if you’re in a rush.

I had a breakfast melt and it was huge! Great service and prices too.

What a neat place! Monona Bank has done right by the community restoring their historic building. The Rotunda Cafe occupies the majority of the extra large lobby, with plenty of space to spread out. The friendly staff serves tasty local coffee and has a good looking good menu that I haven't tried yet - but I'll be going back to change that!

Had a summer special-lavendar honey iced latte- just the right amount of sweet and coffee. Hope to be back for food!

Not only are the chai lattes THE FOAMIEST and paul pel-meni’s dumplings being so great, but there are conference rooms and open space tables you can work from. This is going to be my go-to spot when I’m sick of my home office. It’s not just a bank anymore, it’s a great way to bring in the community

Great new space in Schenk-Atwood! I always loved the rotunda in the Monona Bank building and thought it was a shame that most people never saw it. They deftly converted the rotunda and a big section of the banking area into a beautiful coffee shop with plenty of seating, FREE meeting rooms you can reserve for conference calls or quiet work time, a standard coffee shop drinks menu made with locally roasted coffee, smoothies, and a great small menu of sandwiches and soup. The absolute best thing is that they also serve Paul's Pel'meni (Russian dumplings) which is going to be hell on my waistline now that they're available in my neighborhood. Staff is nice. They're still figuring things out a bit as they've only been open for a few weeks but overall the experience is terrific. Try the roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce! Or the pel'meni if you've never had it. :)

I love this place! Not only are the food and drinks amazing, the employees are so very friendly. I had the dumplings for the first time today, and OMG! They are so yummy! I am so happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Located inside the Monona State Bank, there's plenty of ambient light, and the dumplings are amazing.

Excellent place to sit down and study, if you can get a spot at a table with a rolling chair.
